1963-civil rights leader medgar evers, 37, was fatally shot in front of his home in Jackson MS. ( in 1994, byron de la beckwith was convicted of his murder... he died in prison in 2001.

1929-Holocoaust diarist Anne Frank was born.

1967-the Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia, struck down state laws prohibiting interracial marriages.

1994-nicole brown simpson and Ron Goldman were slashed to death outside her L.A. home.
