Wedding & Baby shower Gift Ideas

Wedding season has begun, so I thought it might be fun to toss out ideas for wedding &/or baby gift givers.
I got lots of wonderful gifts 12 years ago when I got married. The best one I think was a laundry basket filled with laundry supplies, garbage bags and other cleaning products. What I look for is practicality in wedding and baby gifts.
My eldest niece is getting married in OCT and I went frivolous, kinda, this time b/c it has to do as much with the fact that she's been living on her own for several years now and already has a toaster (let's hope her's doesn't catch fire like mine did) and that sort of stuff.

I wanted to get a photo album w/ their names embroidered on it in their colors, but their colors weren't available and to get their initials and the date was about $100, so I decided on a photo album that was wood front and could be carved.
As for baby gifts my sil is expecting twins that will make them have a total of 7 kids she has 3, my bil has 2, with the twins they'll have 7 ,Glad it's not me. I think they have full custody of all 5. I'm thinkin' diapers...
At my last baby shower, I got more clothes than Nathan could wear before outgrowing. I got 4 diaper bags but not the first pack of diapers.
Please share your thoughts.

If you buy diapers buy them in a size 2, the baby is never NB or size 1 for very long. I usually put together a basket...diaper rash ointment(Butt Paste or Balmex is the best imo), Tylenol and Motrin, Mylicon gas drops, orajel, lotions and shampoos, diapers of course and wipes, those little kits with nail clippers and things like that, and I always throw in extras such as onesies and socks, outfits or whatever, and I put it all in one of those decorative wicker laundry baskets. As far as weddings...I just give money.

With my oldest none of the rash cream worked she always got them after taking antibiotics, so I ended up resorting to Monistat. But of all the rash cream I think Boudreaux butt paste is best. My son never had a diaper rash.

Boudreaux Butt Paste is the best, not only does it heal, it is also prevential.

For Weddings, I do something similar. I do kitchen/meal supplies. I like doing a huge metal strainer and gourmet pasta and spaghetti sauce (Rossi is the best) and then put gadgets, towels, ect....It goes over very well.

I think my favorite baby shower gifts are thing that baby can have for a while like I got a picture frame with 4 slots for each seasons that I really liked. Also I got his baby book. Stuff like clothes and diapers are the normal I like special gifts. Gift cards always come in handy!!

PS the only cream that works for both of my son is the triple paste its close to the boudeux cream but man that stuff is pricey!

That is basically what I do for every baby shower I go to...I call it the medicine cabinet. Everything that my hubs had to go out in the middle of the night for, I put in the "cabinet" which was a diaper genie or something useful. I also have done the tub with all of the "fixin's".

Weddings, I typically give money unless they register. Or, if they are in a tight financial spot, I chip in to cover the cost of a DJ, or a couple extra servings of food for the caterers...something like that to make their day what they want and ease the financial burden. Usually I only do this for close friends or family because I don't want to be presumptous.
