No girl!!! No offense at all, I just got on your post because I know you so well, just was really thinking that being nice and good does not get us salvation, but only through Jesus is a man saved. My apologies If I was taken wrong! Baptist folks are great...used to be one myself!!! LOL |

Quote cats meow: Quote juliet: cats this is a good question also to see what other people responses are should be interesting thank you, i thought so too, i think we all have very different ideas about this Isn't it ironic that all denominations that are Christians such as Catholic, Episcopal, Luthern, Methodist, Baptist, Southern Baptist, Evangelicals, and even non- denominational Christians all believe different aspects of Christianity and how you get to Heaven and many believe ONLY their way is the right way. I just can't for the life of me believe that our LORD would not love one of his fellow men if they were a Muslim or a Jew or another religion. For example both Muslims and Jews believe in Jesus Christ but Jews believe he is a prophet and not our Saviour. Man has perverted religion and used religion to justify torture, wars, and the taking of property for thousands of years. I am not either Muslim or Jewish but I do want to think that they also have a right to the kingdom of heaven just like Christians do. I really don't know if it's good works here on earth and accepting the LORD JESUS CHRIST as your personal savior or being 'born again" that gets one to heaven but I always try to remember Jesus having love, compassion, understanding, acceptance, and him saying treat your fellow man as you would wish to be treated. It seems to me MAN has made religion into something that our Lord did not intend for it to be. |

ITA!! With everyones definitions. For me it means to try and be the best person I can be. To follow the commandments give to us by God. I've never even really thought a great deal about it. My mind frame is Im catholic, I went to Catholic schools, growing up and church every Sunday. I don't go to church alot anymore but my children take ccd my son is an alter boy, when he serves I go and after ccd on Sundays I go with them but it only runs from October-April. I may not agree with everything in the bible(but that is mostly because of things like Dinosaurs but as a nun once told us 7 days was not necesarily that it could be 7 years 7 months etc. But on the really important things, I agree! I could go on for hours but any way bottom line to be a good Christian is Do unto others.... |
