Rupert Murdoch Conservative Billionaire and Enterpreneur Extrdonaire owns Fox Networks. Enough said. His media holdings span the globe and in the USA include Dow Jones owner of the Wall St Journal and 175 Newspapers throughout the world.
In 1996 News Corp (his Conglomerate - Parent Company) purchased Fox News Channel (Sports/News/Entertainment) to compete with his arch rival Ted Turner's CNN.
Murdoch also owns the NY Post competitor with NY Daily News

Since 2003 Murdoch owned newspapers (175) editorialized in favor of war with Iraq.
Yet..citing Obama as a Media Star his NY Post supported Obama in the Presidential election!!! He may be a conservative but business is business and he can pick a winner and knows which side his bread is buttered on!! LOL

If it is balance you are seeking...tune in to both Fox and CNN..then make up your own mind. It isn't so much what is said but what isn't. also..lead stories vary according to philosophies. There ya go!

Its pointless to tell some people to research things for themselves. Its Fox=bad, period. We are all apparently just, wait for it, wait for it, I'm almost done laughing... racist sheep in a cultist vaccuum for including Fox as one of our many news outlets. I think CNN is blatant opinion-based news, I think mediamatters is funded by treasonists, yet I still read them with Fox b/c I feel you have to utilize every source you can to get to the "truth" from all sides, especially since Fox is the only (quasi-)conservative outlet.

You can give me an article from media matters that says the grass is green, and I'll give you one from Fox that says the grass is brown, and another from CNN that says its yellow. Its up to you to see if they are talking about the dead grass fried in my backyard from the 105 record temp, or the grass in New England that has had sufficient rainfall.

I don't find the actual news on Fox (current events) as unbalanced as I find most of the commentators when they editorialize the news...which is a commentator's job by the way. Commentators are not news gatherers nor are many of them actually journalists.

not anymore, unfortunately. Gone are the days the media was society's watch dog, and he who got the truth first got the biggest ratings. Now they are the lap dog spinners to whoever pays the salary. I would kill for one news story where I did not hear a single opinion from the reporter.

Although I am a Christian, and have quit taking offense to him totally dismissing how this country was formed, this is a complete lie. The majority is Christian.

China is a nation of individuals, too. Its called the "People's Republic of China." Lets just move there to see how a nation of "indivduals" is treated. Why aren't BOTH parties raising up and confronting him on some of these issues" We are losing our "self" to appease every one else, and that is not fair, nor balanced. And no station is reporting on this.

we are not a country of christians. We are a country of freedom. We are free to be christian, jewish, agnostic, athiest, muslim, speghetti monster worshipers, anything we want. We do not have a national religion.

This country was formed by people coming here for religious freedom. Most were outlaws of some sort and didn't want to be catholic. Actually I am grateful that we all aren't that puritan factor that got so much play. I look very pale in black and I like witches.

lol. some of my earliest ancestors came to America to keep from getting burned at the stake where they came from. And as their descendant, I say keep the religious fanatics as far as possible from government. And even though my people have fought in every war we have ever had and have been Americans for hundreds of years, that does not stop me from seeing when we are doing something wrong (like torture) and wanting it stopped. Let's behave in a way that we can all be proud of.

Enjoyed your post..funny and inspiring at the same time. While I look good in black I am glad the Old Puritans did not remain in the majority. Like you I am a descendant of the earliest Americans and have ancestors whohave fought from the beginning uptoand through the present time for this beloved country. One has to remember this country was founded by Patriots that recognized when a government went astray and used the people and was not for the people and why we had the American Revolution and became the country we are today. Importantly, and what so many do not realize, the signers of the Declaration of Independence were not Puritans but atheists or lax Christians - especially notable was Benjamin Franklin. Their tolerance and recognition for religious freedoms were born of their beliefs and why we have Freedom of Religion (beliefs) and Seperation of Church and State in this country unlike Great Britain.
Fanatical teachings have proven to be at the root of ignorance, hatred, and many excuses for taking a life beginning with the Witches Trails and for the eradication of the Indian tribes evidenced in one sad tail "The Trail of Tears" among many others. Today it continues in many forms against certain people cloaked in the religious righteousness of fanatics not limited to one particular religious belief but existing in all of them.
In this "Ingormation Age" having knowledge and information at our fingertips at the speeed of lightning it is our responsibility to understand viewpoints opposite of our own and keep our minds open to new ideas available to us through new technologies. It is our obligation to respect all religions and viewpoints because this is a country for the people and by the people who do have the freedom to descent which is the very principle upon which this great country was founded.
Americans are not trained seals accepting of all that is told to us. We must be vigilant in guaranteeing ourselves and our children have the right to unbiased news reporting and that means taking the responsibility to speak out when it isn't. God bless AMerica.

No news outlet is fair & balanced. None of them. Some flaunt their bias a little more than others, but they all have an agenda beyond delivering the news. He11, they decide what is news & what is not...they are very powerful & they are all biased.

In my opinion, NEWS is actual current events and can be corroborated by tangible proof...either eyewitness, papertrail, or credible journalistist investigation. News is NOT someone's opinion, with two or three biased heads sitting at a table or remote camera blathering their opinions or speculations about what is happening. That's what we get a lot of on FOX, and other (s). If one could actually hear their conversations when they are not talking over each other, I still think we are not getting the actual facts of the NEWS. The murder of those poor people in Pensicola is what I consider NEWS and is not subject to someone's opinion or interpretation. Otherwise, it's all OPINION.

I would have to agree with the few posters that stated that no cable news program is without bias NONE!

I find that watching my local news gives the news, not commentary. They are not "celebrities". They work for minimal amounts compared to national news anchors ABC,CBS and NBC. The local news people and are not trying to push any agenda..just stating whats happening.

As far as cable news Fox, CNN, MSNBC, HLN. Etc... all are out for ratings and each has an agenda PERIOD!

The local news reporters should be commended for their real Fair And Balanced reporting!
