I read everything, I think, but w/out quotes it is a bit confusing. As far as the Catholic thing, I was responding to this:

" and technically America WAS founded as a Christian nation...it may have been Catholic"

which I didn't understand b/c while there were Catholics here, there was a never a perception that we were a Catholic nation. I pointed out JFK b/c it was a big deal, at the time, that he was the first Catholic president & I think he even gave a speech about how his Catholic beliefs (nor the Pope) would influence his decisions.

what i meant was that in the very beginning Colombus had the intent of spreading his beliefs....finding America was not expected however there was an intent for us to become a Christian nation in the *very* beginning of it all. I said it may have been Catholic just b/c C.Colombus was. he was funded by the queen of spain after all. Now as for our founding fathers, there was a huge divide of Protestants & Catholics, etc. Their main goal was to get out from under the Kings/Queens to create their own nation of equality. not ALL of the beliefs of our founding fathers attributed this to God. our "creator" was mentioned purposely to be vague. the constitution further clarified things. our military fights for the constitution and it actually was "people" that we owe our freedom to. those would be our founding fathers. George W was Christian and said to be Catholic but i'm not sure if that is true or not. i do know that alot of our early colonies were either protestant or catholic in the beginning. both are denominations of Christianity ..since freedom of religion was a part of the constituion (10 years after the Declaration of Independance) - this changed everything. our founding fathers (no matter who's belief was what) had the intent of using the roman repulic as a model. so although the initial intent was a nation based on some form of Christianity, it was not so nor was the idea of freedom solely about Christianity. it was much more complex. it had more to do with economics, politics etc. yes i'm sure some Christian ideals were used but it was far from the sole purpose or reason.

Yes i realize JFK was Catholic and that was in question alot but i was not speaking of that far ahead at all.

Quote alwaysEJ:
Quote lovesit: How is this fair and balanced for anyone:

An angry alleged white supremicist (still too early for facts) shoots down a guard at the Holocaust meuseum. Every news station runs it.

A Muslim Extemist guns down two military recruits in front of the recruiting office, says afterwards says he is a hero, and no one knows about it?????????

What happened to the days where the news media's sole purpose was to be the "watch dog" of the gov and our society? When did they start getting the right to pick and choose what and who to report about???? What, b/c its safer to report about a white supremicist than Islamic extremists? Thats a bunch of crap. All of it.

Weren't the military recruits shot in Arkansas? It got very little coverage. Ironically this incident occurred the same week Dr. Tiller was shot (tons of coverage).

I found this on the incident:
www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,524139,00.html

In recent days, Fox News hosts and contributors have repeatedly accused other media of inadequately covering the June 1 shooting at an Army recruiting center in Arkansas, which resulted in the death of Pvt. William Long and wounding of Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula -- while touting their own network's coverage. However, as the blog Think Progress noted, when Ezeagwula, who was shot several times during the attack, spoke with reporters on June 9, CNN and MSNBC -- but not Fox News -- carried the press conference live. Moreover, while Fox News covered other aspects of Long's killing on June 9, according to a review* of Nexis and TVEyes.com transcripts that day, it did not cover or report on Ezeagwula's remarks to the media, either live or afterwards.

As Media Matters for America has noted, on the June 3 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, while comparing the coverage of Long's killing and the slaying of Kansas abortion provider George Tiller, host Bill O'Reilly falsely claimed that on CNN, "[o]nly Anderson Cooper at 10 o'clock covered the story" of Long's murder. On June 5, O'Reilly offered a "correction" to the claim, stating that that day, "[A] snide and surly guy on CNN pointed out that the story was covered more extensively by that network, and that was true. I was wrong -- my apologies to CNN."

Other Fox News figures have similarly criticized other networks' coverage of Long's murder in comparison to Tiller's murder, suggesting or claiming, in contributor Fred Barnes' words, that any difference in coverage "is obviously a case of liberal bias."

Last night O'Reilly interviewed the father of the young man shot to death in AR. The man said he has been amazed at the outpouring of support from those in AR & around the country who have sent cards & also donated to Wounded Warriors in his sons' name. I think O'Reilly donated $50,000.

So even though it didn't receive that much coverage, people are responding to the families grief.

How do you know the man who lost his son isn't a Democrat? I know his party affiliation was not mentioned on O'Reillys' show. An army recruit is shot by a Muslim - how can you spin that? That is an American issue, not a political issue.

I think O'Reilly's best shouting match EVER was Barney Frank...good stuff. I sometimes disagree with O'Reilly, but he's just good at what he does. I mean his interview with Obama was one of the best ones before the election. We need people like O'Reilly...I mean can you imagine Olbermann interviewing Obama? Olbermann wouldn't be able to hide his erection.
