Lovesit - we are all individuals. That is what makes us unique. Yes China has individuals. Japan has individuals. Russia has individuals. What gives us our unique bonding point is that we are American. I am not discounting that at all. I am saying that we are free. Our military has fought so we can be free. If an individual in China spoke against their country on a message board...can you imagine? The behead people because of dog food. |

Quote cats meow: don't worry lovesit, that information is wrong, the new coins have it printed on the rims, i got some stupid e mail at least 3 times giving out that mis information I had a sneaking suspision that was incorrect info. Good, until we completely change our judicial system to be founded on something else, IMO it should be there. |

Quote Plot-Twister: Quote bigtimesoapfan: Have you read your history books have you looked at the $$ in your wallet? It says in God we trust! I repeat our 4 fathers are rolling over in their graves! We also have seperation of church and state. I don't think they are rolling over in their graves. And yup I have looked at my money (what little I have of it) and I know what it says. And as for the 10 commandments (I thought they were mentioned here...oops wrong of me) not all of them are even laws. I wish they were and I could lock my kids up for not honoring me. Oh yeah, and my dad could have been in jail for adultry (he would have deserved it) I would actually be there because I covet my neighbors no weed filled grass lawn. I agree with the 10 cammandments they should be law! They are rules to live by! IMO!! Sometimes I wish I could lock mine up too! coveting and doing are 2 different things! IMO |

Thought about something else...in regard to the discussion of 'In God We Trust' on the money, etc. We are not a Christian nation in the sense that we have no national religion. No one is going to poke you on Sunday morning & make sure you're up for church. If you want to go, great. If you don't, that's great too...that's freedom of religion. |

"Our creator" is deliberatly vague. Your creator may be god, while another's is evolution, another is reincarnation, another is the speghetti monster. "our Cretor" is not a specific person or entity and it was stated that way to cover all beliefs. |

i am confused, what does this have to do with the reporting on fox news, what happened?? |

It was about how Obama said last week that we are not a christian nation I think it starts on the other page. |

"our Cretor" is not a specific person or entity and it was stated that way to cover all beliefs. True, it is vague, however I don't think many American men & women have given their lives in the pursuit of freedom - for Americans or others - b/c they felt freedom was an unalienable right bestowed on men by the spaghetti monster. If you read the writings of America's founders, there are many references to God, to the Creator, but no references (that I am aware of) to a spaghetti monster. The beauty of America is that you can believe in whoever or whatever you want (or believe in nothing & no one), but our founders & our military fought for your right to do so b/c they believe(d) you have the right to be free, & they believe(d) that right is yours b/c of their belief in God as Creator. Americans have & continue to benefit from our founders belief in an Almighty God, & just b/c some don't believe in Him, doesn't mean they don't continue to reap the benefits of living in a country that was founded by men who believed in God. |

I still say that you are putting words in the founders mouths. Yes I have read many things by our FF's and they all (Especially Jefferson) advocate against mixing religion and politics. That is why I say that "creator" is deliberately vauge. Yes, the military has been to war to secure our rights including the right to be free. However, don't assume that the military is filled with god fearing men & women. There are many people fighting for this country who would like to get on that pirate ship and sail around the world and worship the Speghetti Monster. God does not give us the right to be free, America does. Our constitution does. And our constitution says that I can believe or not believe in anything and the military will still protect me. And yes, they believed in God, but they also allowed for freedom and again, advocated seperation. Can't have it both ways. Anyway, back on topic....That is why I think that Obama did a good thing in recognizing other faiths. Finally, everyone is included in this great big melting pot. We have already combined ethnicities, now we need to combine/accept religions. |

Creator, Higher Power, Diety, or that Spaghetti guy (I'm not familiar with that one) can be referred to as "God" if one so wishes. In God we Trust was not ascribed to be the general feeling of the citizenry of this country nor was it meant to assign any one religious belief system , but instead it refers to the belief of the signatories' and their fervant hope for guidance as they pondered the wording and meaning and the law of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. Each citizen is therefore 'free' to pursue his/her own spiritual guidance as it pertains to their own understanding. If one takes offense if the wording "In God We Trust" in not attached to every coin, etc. we should remember that God is not soley a Christian Diety. He can be whatever provides comfort , solice and guidance in our lives. We should be proud that we have that right and not nitpick who is more right than the others. We're all in this together folks!! |

How is this fair and balanced for anyone: |

Quote lovesit: How is this fair and balanced for anyone: An angry alleged white supremicist (still too early for facts) shoots down a guard at the Holocaust meuseum. Every news station runs it. A Muslim Extemist guns down two military recruits in front of the recruiting office, says afterwards says he is a hero, and no one knows about it????????? What happened to the days where the news media's sole purpose was to be the "watch dog" of the gov and our society? When did they start getting the right to pick and choose what and who to report about???? What, b/c its safer to report about a white supremicist than Islamic extremists? Thats a bunch of crap. All of it. Weren't the military recruits shot in Arkansas? It got very little coverage. Ironically this incident occurred the same week Dr. Tiller was shot (tons of coverage). I found this on the incident: www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,524139,00.html |
