Hannity crops clip to claim Obama "decided to give 9-11 sympathizers a voice" in Cairo speech

http://mediamatters.org/items/200906040053

On the June 4 edition of his Fox News show, Sean Hannity stated that in his June 4 speech in Cairo, President Obama "decided to give 9-11 sympathizers a voice on the world stage," then aired a cropped video clip of Obama saying, "I am aware that there are still some that would question or even justify the events of 9-11." However, the context of Obama's comments makes clear that Obama was condemning those who would "justify the events of 9-11"; immediately following the clip Hannity showed, Obama stated:

But let us be clear: Al Qaeda killed nearly 3,000 people on that day. The victims were innocent men, women and children from America and many other nations who had done nothing to harm anybody. And yet al Qaeda chose to ruthlessly murder these people, claimed credit for the attack, and even now states their determination to kill on a massive scale. They have affiliates in many countries and are trying to expand their reach. These are not opinions to be debated; these are facts to be dealt with.

beautiful!!! i imagine this will end up being a lengthy thread

Dang Cats....lol....why even bother? You must be feeling fiesty this morning!

Fox News is going to show what they want to show and their audience will believe it. Simple as that.

But really, I don't see the problem with reaching a hand out to try to heal. Sometimes understanding is better than killing everyone and destroying innocent people. I think that many of these groups (not all, maybe just some) just want to be understood and that fuels their anger and hatred. If we show some tolerance, perhaps that will help.

We have been at war for years now (against a CONCEPT!) and in the words of a popular TV personality....How is that working for us? Perhaps it is time to kill em with kindness instead of just killing them?

Yes the Obama Apology Tour 2009 continues...now showing in cities across Europe!

The best part of Hannity last night was his interview with Rush. The rest was filler.

I think it's a sad day in this country when our president has the balls to go to other countries and apoligize for us Americans like when he spoke in France and called us Arrogant. Hello was he kdding Telling France that we are arrogant! Thats like calling thew kettle black(IMO) Give me a break! If it wasn't for the United States, France and all the rest would be under Nazi control! They should still be kissing our arses! or him doing the speech inside a church recetly and having them cover up the word Christ! Hello it's a church if you don't like it shoot your stupid speech elsewhere!! Fox news is the only real news! the others are a joke!

That is just silly lol....We are arrogant! We think we can solve/fix/do anything. We are the only country that expects others to speak our language. We are only required to learn one. OURS. We should know and respect other countries when we visit them. We should know and respect customs of other religions and countries when we have them visit. We should not call them EVIL on television. That only makes them hate us more.

As for the WWII thing....we have discussed that on another thread.

Fox being the only news? Well, I personally think you should get your information from several sources and make up your own mind. If you only recieve information from a biased source, your opinion is just spoon fed to you. I am sure you can think for yourself. You seem like an intelligent person.

I watch other news channels I just find that those are biased! all you hear is Democrats good and Republicans bad, that is untrue both sides have good and bad! How often do you hear whats really going on, all we hear is how wonderful our president is! he has wasted more $$ while he's been in office than other presidents behind him! He is selling out our nation IMO and when everyone wakes up it'll be too late! I hope I'm wrong but I don't trust him! It's a gut feeling! People can white wash it any way they want but facts are facts and covering them up doesn't help!!

Plot is right, you are feeling rowdy today! LOL.
But seriously, do you want me to pull out every time every single news group has cropped a video about a president, SC judge, etc? No news group is fair and balanced these days, that goes for every right group, every left group, every AlQaeda group, every Commy group,...

Please watch ALL news groups, pick out the facts, and then formulate your own opinion. IMO, never take a video clip at face value. I have been called a "crazy exteme conservative" before, even by he conservative hubby , and even I ALWAYS read the left news blogs and watch the stations. Not only does it ground me, it gives a voice to all people. Hopefully, I am educated enough to pick out the facts and forget the commentators views.
I agree with Plot on this topic was well, read/watch every side, then make your own opinions.

BTW, Plot, you never went back and continued our discussion on America's right or not to be arrogant, etc. Actually, I haven't checked it today, so maybe you have? Or were you done?

Cats, you are rubbing on me today...To further "rowl" things up, here is my take on left vs. right news groups.

The major left groups (Media Matters, CNN)mainly lie by ommission about video clips, statements, rulings, etc.
The major right groups (RightNews, Fox-although questionably moderate right)will twist video clips, statements, rulings, etc around to mean what they want.

This is why I firmly suggest reading the other side every time you want to know the whole truth.

I don't think any one of the commentators on Faux News even know how to spell the word D-I-P-L-O-M-A-C-Y! They certainly know how to spell W-A-R-M-O-N-G-E-R-I-N-G and H-A-T-E filled rhetoric. Opening a line of communication to our enemies might calm the waters. The previous administraton closed down any kind of diplomacy or communication. And where did that get us?

That's not all I hear. Just how is he selling out? We woke up from the Bush administration and it was ----- that close to being too late. Cheney running around justifying torture while George Bush runs and hides in the bushes.
