Families of fallen Vets
grits1976
With today being Memorial Day (US) I wanted to create a thread for those soapy friends who have lost a loved one due to military service. Today is not for living Vets as important as they have been, it's primarily about those that have passed on in as a result of their service. Though the vets that made it home and passed later are also Honored.
My grandfather's brothers were both in WWII , one died on the beaches in France and the other came home w/ a French wife. Uncle Otra was just 22 and was hit by a mortar coming ashore. One of his friends buried him there and then later he was brought home & buried in the family plot.
Edited to add: Veterans day is for those living Vets to express our appreciation to them. Veterans Day is NOV, 11.
