Hey grangran I've been wanting to know how your sister is doing? I had a bowel obstruction that turned into an "ileus" and was hospitalized for 40 days!! Fasting the entire time while my insides healed. Had an IV - I called it my "Wilderness Experience"

Thanks, hope you are ok now. My sister has diverticulitis which became very infectious. She was having severe pain, chills and fever when she went to the Dr. He put her in the hospital started out with iv antibiotics and thought they were going to do surgery the next day. Then they decided no surgery because of to much infections. They started her on clear liquids and iv antibiotics and other liquids for over a week. They kept pumping liquids for several more days and she went form 183 lbs. up to 202 lbs. Then they had to give her the medicene to get rid of the fluid and she had some gathering around her lungs. After they released her she took oral antibiotics for two more weeks with no improvement. Had an abcess develope. Back to the hospital for another week and home with iv antibiotics for two more weeks. Then more tests.

They say they want to get rid of the infection so they can do the operation in one prcedure instead of having to do it in two.

Thanks for your concern. I know you are enjoying your family even with all the extra work. I always over eat when there is lots of food.

My oldest sister who passed away several years ago was married to a man from Guam. They are a lot of Guamanians in Charleston. And all of them always get together for all kind of occasions birthdays graduations, births, all holidays. Boy you talk about food, long tables of it. They celebrate Guam liberation day, kind of like our 4th of July.
It is when the USA liberated Guam.

They rent a place on the lake and Guamanians from several other states come and it is a whole days event. I mean several hundred people, and you never seen so much food, and such a varity. The men always grill the food and the women prepare the the other food. It is always a good time.

Quote kaycountrygal: Hello EVERYBODY,

I'm sorry but I just do not remember everyone's name so please consider yourself included.

It's a rainy afternoon here in central NC & that's a good thing because we need the rain. For those of you who have gotten too much rain, I hope things are getting better. For those who still need rain, hope you get some soon. For those who are sick or have sick family and/or friends, I hope all will be better soon. I've been there, done that & it is exhausting & depressing & tiring. Yet I sure am glad I was there to help them.

I might try to change my avitor(sp) but as someone said you never know when the new one will show up. The one I have now (or think I still have LOL) is a wooden photo of my little chihuahua. Yes, it really is a made of wood. I used to use scrollsaw & cut out pet pictures in 1/8" birchwood & then put black backing behind it & then put in frame. I enjoyed it very much but then my eyesight got a bit worse & I gradually stopped doing it. Then I got a computer LOL and Boy does it make time go quickly.

ok, guess that's about it. It's time to take my litte dog out for a hopefully brief bathroom walk as it is raining lightly. She can go inside on newspapers but she & I both prefer her to go outside.

Hope all of you have a good weekend. Kay in NC 1:40pm edt

I love your picture, I can't believe you carved it out of wood,it looks so real. I wish I had some kind of talent like that.

cindiann hope your niece is doing better now. I can imagine it takes a long time to get over losing a baby. How is your coworkers stepson doing that was in the wreck.

grangran - Christy, my niece is beginning to come to terms with the loss of her son. The physical part she understands, but the emotional part will continue to take some time. Her two older sons keep her mind of the loss somewhat, but when I talked to her last week, she broke down on the phone.

Ryan, my coworkers stepson, is still in the hospital. He was moved to a regular room on Monday of this week. I may be repeating myself, but he has 4 breaks in his pelvis, 4 broken ribs, a broken elbow (2 palces), 1 lung collapsed and his liver had a tear in it that had to be corrected. The liver, at this time, is the major internal concern. Bobby, my coworker, and his wife (Shelbie) are trying to make arrangements for Ryan's care when he is released from the hospital - hopefully in about a week. Shelbie just went thru chemo for breast cancer for the 2nd time this past spring, so it makes it even tougher on her. Ryan, his wife and 2 kids live with Bobby & Shelby.

I wanted to post something positive that happened to my neighbor Shirley. I knew she had not been at home much the past 2-3 weeks, but just figured she was at her mom’s. (Shirley is 70 – her mom Mary is 92). 3 weeks ago Shirley was taking Mary to Shoney’s for lunch and went in to make sure there was a table available before getting her mom out of the car and into her wheelchair. When Shirley came back out to get Mary, she tripped on a bump in the parking lot and knocked herself out. EMT’s had to be called. On her way to the hospital Shirley began to worry about her mom. Little did she know that 2 young women who were about to go in and have lunch made the decision to drive Shirley’s car behind the ambulance to the hospital and make sure that Mary was taken inside to wait to see what was going on. They locked the car and gave Mary the keys and left. Mary said she didn’t get the young women’s names, but is so proud that there are people out there willing to drop what they are doing to help someone in need.

God sends his angels even in today's sometimes crazy world. We may sometimes wonder how we're going to get through some things, but at least we know when the chips are really down, our angels are watching us.
