[quote]Quote lomille: Don't anyone be fooled about some posters saying they are leaving the boards...not true. They are reading and posting when they feel like it..but they are not gone. Say something "controversial" and see how soon you get a response. lol

As I was told weeks ago when someone once told me off on the Daily Boards...these postings mean a lot to some folks. We are friends and we need each other..it's like a family. So, don't be fooled, families stick together.

Perhaps you are referring to me since I was one of those who stated that I would be boycotting the boards and the show. I have many years of my life invested in the show -36 years. I did not post a comment for one day. After re-thinking my decision, I have not stopped watching the show because I am hooked! I refrained from posting for one day and decided to return to posting my comments. I have only been posting 2 1/2 years. Maybe you are judging me and thinking that I am a hypocrite.

I consider it a privilege for us to be commenting about the characters we love/hate. The actors are all doing superb jobs with the material they are given and portraying their characters to their utmost ability. I applaud their acting.

Becoming so dissatisfied with the direction in which the writers have taken the show led to my total disgust. The story lines drag on far too long for just about all of us.
The show has been on a downward spiral since they hired Mr. Hogan Sheffer, a former writer for DOOL. He almost destroyed that one. BTW, since Mr. Edward Scott joined the writing, the show's ratings have escalated. Prior to Mr. Sheffer's hiring, there were no ghosts, hauntings, etc.

I would like to see the show return to its vintage days of ROMANCE, DRAMA, INTRIQUE, not all the garbage that is on now with all the back and forth between spouses, bed-hopping, etc.

Yes, there some close-knit people who comment considering themselves as "family". That's when you see all them going back and forth. That's okay with me.

What bothers me is when people lash out at other posters telling them to "shut up", plus other cruel, nasty things. I have the tendency to defend those who are treated unjustly and state my opinion rather vehemently.

Many don't have a clue about the guidelines because they don't read them. Then they ask the same questions over and over again which I find most annoying. How many people do you remember gave their definition of the treatment of harming their own children? (Having a Senior Moment and can't remember the name) Too many to count.

It is not my intention to hurt anyone on the boards, EVER!

Getting back to reality, the writers are going to do what they want, not what the fans want. We have absolutely no power or control over what they write.

lomille: Thank you for the compliment. I had no idea you feel that way about me.

That is just the way I am. You probably already know that I was in the convent 10 years. Have been home 46 years and don't miss it one bit! LOL I love my life like it is now. Sometimes that "nun" part of me stands out like a sore thumb. That's why I jump in with both feet to defend those who are insulted by other people's comments. Cannot stand INJUSTICE! I have always been one to tell it like it is. My deceased Yankee friend always quoted me by what I always said that I would "Tell them how the cow ate the cabbage!" I really don't know how I came up with that one 46 years ago, but it still stands out when I think of her. I can visualize her saying: "You tell them how.....!"

I love your posts also.

No, I did not know about your background. I too cannot stand INJUSTICE. I just pay attention to some posters' comments about these fictional characters. Even if this is only a soap, one's true feelings and thoughts are reflected in their comments. That is the reason I do not respond to some posters because based on previous posts you become familiar with them--you learn who is likely to respond in an unkind manner. Also some posters egg-on others to be rude.--

I believe that if a person is truly kind person, his/her comments will reflect that side of them even if they disagree with a poster. JMO (just my opinion)

I will continue to post because soaps are just like Harry Potter, Superman, Dynasty, Lord of the Rings---not real!!---just meant to entertain---and entertain it does.

Hope I'm not barging in on your conversation. I, too, have always enjoyed your posts, simscb. You tell it like it is, how you see it. Everyone is entitled to that. You too, lomille.

I have a problem with some posters going overboard in giving "names" to characters. They delight in "calling names". Yet don't anyone dare to attack their favorites. Seems a little "in your face" to me.

I think the problem with the repeat comments is because there are SO MANY comments and not everyone has the time or inclination to read them all. I certainly don't. It did get a little crazy with all the repeat definitions of the illness that Phyllis was accused of having.

Everyone interprets the show differently. Everyone sees s/l's in a different way. Sees characters in a different way. We all have to agree to disagree. Life is too short to be so intense about a soap!

Seems like we are the same. I believe in being fair and try to see from another's point of view. May not agree......but everyone has the right to voice their opinion.

I don't think I could stop watching, even though the s/l's leave a lot to be desired. Been watching for over 30 years. I'm beginning to think it's an addiction. Maybe it is.

Take care and have a safe 4th of July!

Simscb; Sorry. I should have been clear in my directions. I mean page 30 on this board (Y&R Buddies). If you read the top one from me, then near the bottom, a poster tells me to go someplace else and start my own site. I was appalled that she was acting as if she owned this board.

Anyway, Glasslady55, PeppermintPatty, and ForeverYnR backed me up. That ForeverYnR is also a brave soul like you and me. tee hee, tee hee.

Have a blessed weekend also---and thanks for your generous chats. I need friends too. Thanks.

Hey PeppermintPatty:

You are not barging in.--Your comments are welcomed. (I also like comments from Nonnie7.) --By now, I'm sure you know what posters you can converse with and the ones you need to skip over. lol

You seem like a very intelligent person.--

I have observed that it is generally the same posters that try to control the board by intimidation and/or rude 'in your face' remarks, or just egging on others for negative comments. When the s/lines are boring (quite often--lol), some posters will say anything to get the board heated up. And that's OK--- as long as the stones and shoes are being thrown at the characters and not the posters. --Well anyway--we're smart--we know how to respond/or not. lol

Enjoy your weekend/holiday.

Oh another comment--Candace should not have to repeatedly tell the same posters to take their comments to the lounge.--My grandchildren listen better than some of these adults---watch out for tantrums and defiance when some say--"no matter what Candace says, I'm sayinh what I want here"---and then they talk about eveytihnfg except Y&R.!!!wow--kids

lomille - Thanks very much for your kind comment. I am one of those who has stomped her foot like a two-year-old and said that I'm never gonna come back until they quit with the gay thing but Y&R has been so much a part of me over the years that after I'm done with my tantrum, I'll probably be back on there again giving my opinion and arguing with anybody who disagrees.

Regarding gays (strange name), though, I'm not about to pass judgement on those who are because then I would be attempting to elevate myself to the level of a higher power whose job it really is to pass out judgement. I won't, though, allow myself to be bullied into thinking that I must accept something simply because others tell me I have to. The censorship regarding gays is getting stronger and stronger on Y&R probably because most of them are gay and the statistics saying that most people are saying that it's about time to have more gay s/l's is a load of crap. Having said all that, back to my self-imposed snit about this.

Hope everybody has a great holiday and I love you all whether you're gay or not. Thanks again, lomille.

To Blue501:~~~~~

A couple months ago on my first post, I called out Nanas3 for "Hoots & Hollers" (big mistake). She reprimanded me & I apologized to her. But you "Blue501" cannot seem to let it go!! Please let it go.

Here is your latest reference to me:

There are a few people on here who think it is their job to enforce the rules. One in particular, reports people for saying too many hi's to each other, for talking (like this) off the subject of Y&R, for using any term she personally finds offensive (ex: Grammar Nazi), etc, etc. I finally said something to her, which I admit I should NOT have & she has been complaining for two weeks now. I am surprised they have not booted me. I truly am sorry I said anything. I did not realize she would NEVER get over it.

You seem to be the one still complaining (and NEVER getting over it). PLEASE let it go. You sound like an intelligent woman, married, lived a good life, likes Y&R, etc.---focus on someone else or whatever but please leave me out. Thanks. I'm asking this out of kindness. Thank you.

WOW!!! Seems like she has a BIG PROBLEM. I read both on page 30. She does NOT RUN the show. Candace does.

Saw your post from today. I commend you for doing the right thing.

I apologized to someone on Friday, but did not get a response. Guess I will have to ask her to go here. Evidently she must hate me. Do you remember the one who told me to stop yelling at her?

BTW, I hope you had a great Fourth!
Mine was quiet.

I just had a thought. If she/he doesn't go back to Friday's posts, she may not see what you wrote. I will be posting my request soon.
