Quote CindiAnn: If any of you check in here, the big hullabaloo on Monday (6/15) was that someone was lashing out at David Letterman over his comments about Sarah Palin's daughter. The original poster mentioned that she was boycotting CBS, and was glad that at least she could keep with the show through the website. Another poster then posed the question to her that is was in essence two-faced that she would even read the posts and should get off the board. Then there was one other post that used more than a full monitor screen talking about it. The posts had gotten to about page 5. When Candace got through deleting them all, we were back to page 3.

Had a feeling that's what it was about! Things you don't talk about on these posting boards is Politics, Religion, or anything else!

Hey There, I was about to leave for the day and thought that I would look for the Buddy room to see what was happening. Also this morning whoever started the talk about David Letterman, Sarah Palin and someone else that was gay then it crossed over to Chris Egen storyline about leaving because of his upcoming scene with Rafe then it crossed over into other Soaps that have had similar story lines and it began not to be about Y & R at all, so when I started to post and did post my comments this morning it was briefly removed but it was placed back.

When I clicked on the post you comments it was on page 5 then it was gone and then it was on page 3. I think someone really upset Ms. Candace and this is why the low posting for today's episode.

Anyway I got to go. I'll check back here tomorrow......

Good Evening my Posting Peeps for the Middle Georgia Area.

My mom watched As The World Turns - I'll never forget when I was about 12 and my dad had pneumonia and was stuck at home for about three weeks. A day or so after he went back to work, he came in one day and asked my mom what Lisa had been up to. I thought my mom was going to spill the bowl of butter beans she was putting on the dinner table!

Your computer screen must be really small... as I do not remember any post reaching the length you claimed. I thought the original poster was off topic, and I can understand why all the posts were deleted... but there needs to be consistent moderating on the board.

Bring up that BS between Letterman and Palin= instant deletion... but over the last few weeks I have seen multiple anti-Gay, homophobic comments have been left with no editing. I find that irritating, and offensive. And there needs to be a more effect placement of the "Rules for Posting" so that situations like this do not happen again.

One last point: I have been reading over the last few pages of posts, and I see that many of you are interested in 'natural' Hormone replacement therapy.

I have the breast cancer gene in my family, and have been told to avoid Soy Milk, soy products like tofu, and edamame. Any product that is suggested including wild yam cream, black cohash, and similar products are PACKED full of Phytochemicals... which are natural hormones... and just the same as the HRT therapy many use.

That is why those products work... but also why y'all should be careful with them. Before you try any of these products, check with your Doctor... as many of these products can exacerbate problems for many who have the breast cancer, or other cancer genes in their family.

PLEASE be careful with your health: you are your own first defense.

Oh my, I hadn't heard about the soy problem. I have been drinking choc. soy milk for several yrs in the morning when hubby drinks his coffee (I don't like coffee) and we are reading the morning paper. (We are retired) I have my 2 yr ckup this coming Monday and will certainly ask my oncologist about that.
Thank you for this.

That's right. If you have had breast cancer, check with your oncologist about using soy, which has estrogen-like properties. Mine says a little won't hurt me but not to make it a major part of my diet. I was hoping to cut meat out of my diet completely and use soy as a substitute, but that's a bad idea for me. So I try to stick with chicken, very lean pork, and fish if I can get some that is relatively free of heavy metals & pcbs. (Man have we messed up our environment).

AnnPage - I, too, have the same gene for breast cancer as my mother, sister and young niece have all had breast cancer. I was told the same thing by my doctors - avoid anything with soy in it - soy milk, tofu, edamame, anything at all made with soy. It might be helpful to somebody to know that I was also strongly cautioned to re-adjust my seat belt if it is rubbing on my breast and to not wear a bra where the metal thing where the strap meets the bra itself might rub. They meant by a constant irritation to the tissue made by rubbing or scratching. I'm considering a double masectomy "before the fact". I know how extreme that sounds and is but ---.

nanas3 - It sure was interesting this morning reading all the rage directed at David Letterman and at Sarah Palin in return. The venom was very intense in both directions and those who were reading were kind of holding our collective breaths to see where this would lead. Actually, it lead to Candace and that was the end of that. Sure was interesting while it lasted. I, for one, was interested in reading the posts because it didn't involve any of the poster's personal issues such as race, religion, sexual preferences, etc. It was about two very public people and thus made it a little less personal than it would have been if it had been an issue regarding one of the posters.

One poster referred to some as "Grammer Nazis" and I thought that was very offensive to me and the post still exists under this topic aout 10 pages back. Why did Candace not remove that. I even told her about it but it's still on here! Go figure.

I think the problem is: on the "Daily Updates" you are only allowed to discuss Y & R, but on this site "Y&R Buddies", you can discuss a myriad of topics, including personal stuff, etc. as long as it's within guidelines.

I enjoy a good debate, as I started almost nine years ago on the net in the Political chat room at IWon.com... So I tend to be a bit more analytical than some of the posters that were on this morning.

I have no problem with folks having a different opinion... but let it be logical, and THEIR opinion... not something they are rehashing from some hokey, repeatedly forwarded email, or from blowhard radio shock-jock.

Plus... I think I have a stronger opinion on this topic, as I am both a former Politician/Public Official... and I worked for many years as a stand up comic/TV and Radio Talk Show Host (and yes, the boundaries between jobs blurred on more than one occasion).

I have made jokes that didn't always work... and as a Public Official, I was the target of a few jokes. When you sign on for the job, there is an open door policy for public scrutiny... particularly if you trot your family in front of the cameras, and out to public events.

In many ways, I miss that life... although the personal price you pay is very great, and very destructive to family life. But every time I go into Dallas, and see what my work has accomplished, my heart skips a beat.

And if I had known that all it would take to kill my 22 year long marriage to a personality deficient computer nerd was becoming 'infamous'... I would have sought Public Office sooner! LOL

So........what do you suggest instead of soy milk? I hope not milk, unless you live on a farm and milk your own cows. Of course then you will still be getting hormones. Do the doctors have any other alternatives instead of chemical medication that cost too much?

What is the answer? What works for some does not work for others. I think I will take my chances with the natural instead of the synthetic hormones. Hot flashes are hell, if there is something else that helps........let us know.

Cancer runs in my family too, actually cancer seems to be prevalent in our society. Perhaps too much of processed foods, doctors prescribing too much medication, unhealthy lifestyles........many things to blame for our health.

As for the shock-jock.....must be talking about Howard Stern? Missed all the excitement on the board this morning. Can't blame a mom for protecting her daughter. I don't care how involved in politics she is! Some things are off limits!

Hope everyone has a great week!

I know Hot Flashes are Hell. I am the Olympic Torch of Hormones these days... so I sympathize.

They buried my sister almost four years ago after a ten year battle with breast cancer that metastasized to her brain, bones, and liver. It is a ghastly, and painful way to die. Her tests at that time showed the cancer gene in our family.

I have used that information to make food, and medical choices for MY health and future. I only pass on what I have learned from personal experience.

I am NOT suggesting what you do and don't consume. I am just warning you that there are side effects from whatever you choose to do with HRT, whether it is synthetic, or natural.

And just because something is 'natural' does NOT make it better, or safer. Heck, even arsenic and strychnine are 'natural'!

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR if you have questions... but do not assume that just because they (the TV Commercials) SAY something is safe for you, that DOES NOT make it so.

I buy organic milk from Target (their Archer Farms brand). It says it is produced without pesticides & that the cows are raised on pastures without hormones or antibiotics and consume only wholesome, organic feed. I hope that is right. Sounds like a more humane environment for the cows too.
The Kroger brand of milk in NC also states that the farmers who produce it have agreed to not use hormones on their cows.
Of course, you never know what is going on. I read an article recently that said some Amish were running puppy mills (hundreds of dogs in little stacked cages) side by side with organic vegetables & that turned my stomach.
