Sassy posted a question in another thread. Thought it was relevant so I'm going to transfer the answer over to here as well. Hope you don't mind Sassy. Quote SassyFrass: Logging what I consume would be down right depressing.... TOK do you know what the average give or take is for a daily weigh in... I mean should you consider time of day, clothing, Bathroom Use....things like that or just go with what the scale says and jump for joy....I probably ought ot of posted this on the Diet thread...My bad In the morning you tend to be lighter because you haven't eaten, but your body fat tends to be higher because you're dehydrated. At night, you tend to be heavier because you've had a full day of meals but (generally speaking) you may have a lower body fat because you're better hydrated. Clothing is a variant so if you're not measuring nakey, you can add probably 2-4 pounds for clothes and shoes. In terms of weight and body fat, measuring daily can be a good way to keep yourself honest in the short term. If you're looking for an indication of actual results, you want to give yourself at least a week to see something that is stable. Weight can vary up to about 4 pounds in a single day dependent on water/food consumption, PMS bloat etc. I'll coppy post this in the diet thread as well. |

Hey Sassy at weight watchers we always took our shoes off before we weigh and a lot of us would wear the same outfit every week to the meeting so that clothes would not be an effect on our weight. Funny thing was summer changeing to fall. We went from shirts to jeans and would always gain! Everyone always blamed it on those darn blue jeans and sweaters no matter what!! |

I'm told little things can make a big difference so I am okay with eatting at a buffet pizza place last night. I have it in my head that I have to have 4 slices (dumb I know) so I picked the smallest 4 slices I could find and the first piece I ate crust and all the middle to I ate toppings only and the last ate the whold ymmy thing and ate it very slowly. Stayed away from desserts to. My hubby was pround and so was I. Another plus was not having heartburn all night like my husband did! |

I've switched to wheat pasta and wheat bread, sometimes the little things do add up...Also, we went from 2% down to 1% milk...I cannot bring myself to drink skim yet. So I am just trying to be more health conscience all around. |

Oh that banana thing reminded me, something I came across was take 3 bananas 1 gala apple chop and throw in a blender with some cinnamon. May need some water to get the blend going but not too much its better thick. I eat it with a spoon. Its so good! sometimes I add ground flax too. I eat this for breakfast a lot. |

It's really hard, especially after 45. I'm finding this is the first time in my life since I started working out that I have to be at least relatively careful about what I eat. I'm always trying to stay within the last five pounds, not necessarily lose it, but not gain any more either. I have the luxury of being a stay-at-home mom so I have more time than many women. So I work out at home. I personally find Chris Freitag's Prevention workouts to be wonderful. I try to work out an hour a day, four or five times a week. But as far as food, some things work for some and other things don't. Lately I've discovered eating Cheerios with one percent milk as my last snack of the day works for me. I know it has to be better than ice cream or something. I seem to be sleeping better too. |

Okay, I'm checking in. I weighted this morning and I'm down to 158! so I lost 4 pounds this past week. Not to bad considering I never really got the time for my work out dvd or walking the neighborhood. So far today doing good I've had 2 glasses of water and my slimfast shake. Starting to get hungry since that was at 6:00 this morning. Won't have lunch until 1:00 so I think I'll have a ww yogurt to hold me over! |

My husband suggested that I give myself an reward for the first 10 lbs I loose. I think thats a great idea! So once I reach 152 I'm going to go and have a pedicure and manicure!! |

Congrats, I think the reward is a great idea as long as its not food. Food would be my fave. Also remember another one your rewards is losing the weight you want. |

Food can not be an reward when I'm trying to loose weight!!! Yes the best reward will be being at my goal weight and feeling good inside and out! really wish it would stop raining so that I could get out and go power walking. Work out dvd are great but its hard to find the time for those but go outdoors and enjoying the weather wouldn't seem like so much WORK!!! Weight lose would go much faster if I could get my butt moving! Have been doing commercial break workouts (LOL) I do spead walking in place during all the commercials of aswt and gl! Its something anyway...(LOL) |

Hi guys...I'm 5 ft. 8 and weigh 168. I need to lose about 25-30 pounds. I'm in my early 40's, so I need to get out and get walking to help with the weight loss. I can loose 10 pounds without trying just by not eating after 6 pm each day...eating normal stuff for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And drinking lots of water. I'll check in again and list what I've been eating. |

Think you bmi should be between 130-158. And bmi's are often to low for the average person according to my weight loss dr. You might want to go on line and do a bmi test! Just trying to be helpful here!! |

About a year and a half ago, I got down to 138. I looked great, but was hungry all the time. So I gained up to 142 and did fine for a while. Next thing you know...I'm at 170! I want to get back down to 140 so I can fit into all my cool clothes! Plus my high school reunion is coming up...yikes! |

I like to have some curves. At my happiest I was 10ish pounds over the ibm weight scale. Who cares Huh? As long as we are happy. |
