Are You Seeing Me?Monday, November 02 2009 |
Brad haunts Henry, the town gathers for Brad's funeral and Carly returns.

At home, Margo helps Casey do up his tie. Maddie arrives and Casey explains that he's bringing her to the funeral. Margo is cold and makes sure none of the other Colemans are coming before she leaves. Maddie worries that the whole town hates her family.

Henry goes back to his room and nervously looks around. When he walks out, Brad is standing in the hall.

He goes to the hospital and Ali checks him out. He sees Brad. "Are you seeing me?" Brad asks. Ali leaves him alone and Henry tries to pretend he doesn't see Brad. "Why am I here? Why can't anyone else see me?" Brad asks. Henry paces and freaks out until Ali comes back. She tells him she's worried that Katie hasn't been spending time with the baby and hasn't even named him yet.

Henry runs back to his room. Brad follows and tells him they need to see Katie. Henry tells him he's dead and it's all his fault. "Haunt me the normal way. Drive me to drink or gamble," Henry says. Brad explains that they must have some special link and he needs his help. To prove this is all real, he asks him to look for an old notebook he found at the farm house and gave to Katie.

Craig shows up to take Parker and Rosanna to the funeral. Parker walks out. "He hates me," Rosanna says. Craig says he'll come around. They worry about how many people he's lost and how much worse things will get.

Ali calls Katie to tell her that the baby is doing well. When she brings up the funeral, Katie hangs up on her. Craig, Margo and Rosanna arrive to pick her up. She's called a car and wants to go alone.

When Henry shows up at Katie's, she shuts the door on his foot. "You can avoid me for eternity, but you can't avoid your baby," he says. She yells that this is none of his business. He tells her that this is all his fault and she threatens to call the police if he doesn't leave. He leafs through the book Brad told him about and leaves it open on the table. When he leaves, she spots it. "Oh my God! Brad," she gasps.

Rosanna and Craig walk to the funeral. He worries that his sister might not bounce back. "Life is really short," Rosanna tells him. As they join hands, Margo walks over and glares at them. "Whatever you're thinking, it's all true," Craig says. He says they're unconventional. Margo wonders if he's referring to the fact that he's engaged to Rosanna's sister or that he tried to kill her once.

Katie goes to the hospital and sits with her baby. She's not ready to go to the church. "I love you so much," she cries to the baby.

Ali arrives at the church. Maddie and Casey are the only people there. Casey says that all of this sucks. They invite Ali to sit with them. She and Maddie talk about Henry and she runs off to find her brother. Margo arrives while Casey and Ali catch up.

Henry goes home. He jumps when there's a knock. "Where are the ghostbusters when you need them?" he asks himself. It's only Maddie. She tells him to go to the funeral. He thinks that will make things worse. She says that if he doesn't go to the funeral, they will never make this right.

Janet finds Jack on the porch staring at a photo of his brother, he's been trying to write something for the service. When he stands up, she notices he's been drinking and reminds him about what happened last time he was drinking. She apologizes. He tells her he's just looking for the right way to say goodbye. Liberty overhears them. "Oh my God! The night my dad got shot you were drunk?" she says. Janet defends Jack. "May dad's dead. Have another beer," Liberty says, storming out. Holden arrives and sits with Jack and encourages him to simply speak from his heart today.
After he's had a shower, Jack sits at the table and remembers being a kid with his brother.

Liberty and her mother arrive at the church. She doesn't want to go in and deal with all of the sympathetic eyes. Janet tells her funerals make things more real. That's exactly what Liberty doesn't want. She agrees to go in... but she won't sit with Jack.

Henry and Maddie arrive at the church but keep their distance from everyone else as they arrive. Janet worries that Jack hasn't shown up yet. She tries calling him but there's no answer. She says they can't start without Jack but Liberty tells her mother that they can't force Katie to keep waiting like this. As the funeral starts, Craig goes up to speak, although Margo tries to stop him. He says that Brad hated his guts, but he loved his sister more than life. He'll always be inspired by Brad's generosity and will make sure his son knows what kind of man he was. Janet goes up next and talks about when she first met Brad and what a good man he grew into. Liberty joins her and talks about how much she loves her dad and will miss him. When Katie goes up, she says that Brad was wonderful. Since he died, she's been trying to figure out what he wanted to name their son. She found the answer in his notebook from sixth grade. In tears, she reads a report he wrote as a little boy, "My Hero: Jack Snyder." Jack watches from the back of the church and cries. Katie says she doesn't blame Jack at all. "Our son's name is Jacob. Jacob Bradley Snyder. After two of the best men I've ever known," she says. Jack walks out in tears.

Holden and Parker worry about Jack. Liberty can't understand why Katie would name her baby after the man who killed her husband. Her mother orders her to stop. Rosanna tells Craig that she was impressed by what he said. "You inspired me to be a better man. Don't you know I love you Rosanna?" he says. "I think I love you too," she says.

Katie cries in the back room. Brad watches her. Henry walks in.

As Jack walks into the parking lot, Carly appears.
