Jack is determined to hunt down Ralph, Emily tries to be optimistic and Ralph gets a surprising offer of help.

Jack goes home and washes his face. Janet offers to get him something to eat. He just wants to go back in time. She admits that she hasn't told Liberty yet. He loads his gun and tells her he's going to work and then he'll hunt down Ralph. She tries to stop him but he refuses to listen. He vows again to make sure that her uncle pays for what he's done. Janet repeats that he cannot be on this case. "It's not a case, it's my brother," he says.

Barbara tells Dusty that Brad is dead. He asks if they've got Ralph yet and admits that he's had run-ins with him in the past. She suggests he talk to Margo. Dusty won't deal with the police.

Liberty and Parker go to see Paul and Emily. The couple apologizes and offers to back off from pressuring her. "There's no baby. I lost it," Liberty explains. Emily tells her not to blame herself. Liberty says that they will be amazing parents someday. As Parker drives her home, Emily cries to Paul. She blames herself because she thought that this baby could stop the pain of losing Jennifer. He tells her that they can still have a baby. Emily can't deal with this and runs off. As Paul turns around, his mother runs in with the bag of money Audrey left behind. "One door closes and another opens," Barbara says. Paul thinks that's cold, even for her, and tells her to go. As they argue, Emily returns. Barbara tells her they need to start working together. She tells Emily that Brad is dead. Emily notices the heap of money and Barbara asks her to feel the power it has and think of all the good she could do with it. Paul orders his mother to get out. After Barbara leaves, Paul throws the money in the fireplace. Before he can light it up, Emily blows out the match. Burning the money would be pointless, she insists. The money isn't cursed, only James was. "If you don't take risks, you never love," she tells him. She can't say 'no' to love when she has him. They could use the money to have a family. "Anything is possible," Paul says. They kiss.

As Ralph holds a gun on Teri at Metro, she can't believe she was foolish enough to ever believe in him. He assures her that he will vanish as soon as his friend shows up. When the police begin knocking on the door, he warns her to be smart. Opening the door, she tells the cops that she is alone. They inform her that Brad is dead and ask her to contact them if Ralph appears. After they leave, Ralph tells her that he didn't kill Brad. "I can't even breathe the same air that you do," she says, disgusted. He warns her not to test him and orders him to get her to the back of Yo's. "You are a liar and you broke my heart!" she shouts at him. There's another knock at the door. As Ralph hides, she answers it. It's Dusty. He tells her that what her uncle is doing to her sucks. She feels terrible about what's happened and shoves Dusty out. Ralph comes out of the shadows and leads her out. Dusty is waiting for them. He tells Ralph to put the gun down and offers to help him escape. Ralph is skeptical. Dusty thinks this would be best for everyone and offers him a passport and a jet and then begins tying up Teri. He asks Ralph to get some tape and whispers in her ear to be quiet. Dusty lays out the options for him.

When Jack gets to the station, he freaks out because he hasn't been given any memos on Manzo. Parker comes to see him and tells him about what just happened with Liberty, Paul and Emily. Jack realizes he doesn't know what has happened and takes him into the office. He explains that Brad was shot and died. Parker can't believe it. Jack tells him the story. "He died a hero," he says. Parker asks him who shot Brad. After a pause, Jack tells him, "I did." Parker reminds him that this was an accident and he shouldn't be there. Jack needs to be there and tells him to go home and be there for Liberty. After Parker leaves, a lead comes in and Jack runs off with another cop.

Janet is about to run off and look for Liberty when she notices her on the porch. She tells her about going to see Paul and Emily. Janet says that was 'very adult' of her. Liberty stares up at the moon and tells her that Brad taught her all about it. Janet begins to weep and asks her to sit down. "It's about your father..." she starts.

Janet sits with Liberty in her bed. She says that Ralph was responsible for what happened. "Nothing will bring Dad back," Liberty says. When Janet goes downstairs, Parker arrives. He gives her a hug and asks after her daughter. "My dad asked me to take care of her. She's my friend," he says. Janet lets him go up. He hugs Liberty and tells her that his father is falling apart. "My dad has no idea how he'll get over what he did," he says. She quickly realizes that Jack is the one who shot Brad.

After Parker leaves, Liberty tells her mom that she loves Parker for always telling her the truth. She asks her how long she was going to wait before telling her everything. Janet thought it could wait. "I don't know what to do next," Liberty admits. Janet thinks Jack feels the same way.
Jack and the cop stand in an alley. He keeps flashing back to the shooting.
