Casey has big news, Adam helps Alison and Casey get back together, the Hughes family gathers for a surprise party, and Hunter wants to be left alone.
Casey receives a letter from Oakdale University that he has been reinstated due to his volunteer work and recommendation from Bob. He hides the letter from Margo and Adam and leaves. Margo reads the letter that Casey left behind. Adam thinks Casey hid the news because of him and thinks they should show Casey some love. Margo agrees that a party is an excellent idea.
Hunter is startled at work when Larry enters. Hunter tells Larry he hates him! Larry wants to give Hunter a package, but Emily enters and tells him to get out! Larry claims he does not want to cause trouble and hands him a package from his mom. Hunter opens the package to see a music box that was his mom's favorite trinket. Hunter remains silent and Larry leaves. Emily thinks he should put the box in a special place. Hunter is sad that his mother kept everything special in her life hidden from him. Emily tries to reach out to him, but Hunter becomes angry and tells her she is not his mother!
Alison bumps into Casey at Java. The two begin to bicker and Casey angrily takes off. Adam enters and tells Alison the news about Casey. Alison becomes angry and asserts that Casey owes everything to her. Adam tells her about the surprise party, but Alison is not interested. Adam tells Alison that Casey has been sitting around depressed without her. Adam goes on to tell her that Casey is a great guy and begs her to come to the party and give him another chance.
Margo shares the news about Casey to Tom. Margo tells Tom about throwing a party and making a fuss over Casey. Tom thinks the party is a great idea and agrees to get Casey there without tipping him off.
Casey goes to the hospital and tells Bob that his letter got him back into college. Bob is thrilled and proud. After Casey takes off, Tom shows up and tells Bob about the surprise party. Bob is happy they are going to show Casey how happy they are for him.
Adam returns with a laptop as a present for Casey. Margo is so happy he is home with them. She admits she feels bad for keeping his identity a secret from Tom, but she does not want him to go back to jail. Tom returns with Lisa, Kim and Bob. Tom calls and tells Casey he must return home immediately.
Hunter visits Alison at the hospital and asks her to join him for lunch. She tells him about Casey's party, but Hunter is upset that she is spending time with someone who is so mean to her. Alison admits she has been judgmental and unforgiving and wants to change. Hunter insists on going with her.
Larry interrupts Emily working at the Lakeview. He claims he wants to make things right. Emily tells him he stole her children! Larry tells her he can get her on a priority list for donor eggs. Susan interrupts and tells him he is outrageous! Emily tells him he is a liar and a fake. Susan does admit it is possible that Emily could get pregnant, but Emily does not want Larry's help. She orders him to leave her, Alison and Hunter alone.
After Larry leaves, Susan asks Emily why she changed her mind about having a baby. Emily thinks Hunter needs her. She claims he is grieving and she can help him get through it. Susan thinks she should give him space. Emily retorts Susan never gives her space! Susan points out she has always resented her for it and Emily agrees maybe it is a good idea.
Alison and Hunter arrive at the surprise party. Alison introduces them to Hunter. He admits that he is her brother. Alison fills them in on the details. Lisa remarks, "Oh great, another Stewart to contend with!" Hunter asks if Tom and Emily were married when they had Daniel. Alison comments there is too much friction between their families. Before things get tenser, Casey enters and is shocked to see a crowd yelling, "Surprise!" Casey leaves and Margo chases him. Casey tells her he wanted to tell her and Tom and see their reaction. Margo tells him she could not be prouder of him and coaxes him back inside.
Casey tells Alison he is happy she is there. She apologizes for being cross with him earlier, and he tells her he is sorry for a lot of things. Alison tells him Riley really cares about him to get her there. Casey tells her he does not want to be angry anymore and kisses her. Hunter sees them kissing and tells Alison it is time to go, but Casey asserts that she is not ready to go! Alison wants the three of them to all talk over lunch, but Hunter wants her to leave before she is miserable again. Alison tells him she can make her own decisions and Hunter leaves.
Back inside the party, Alison hears Bob say, "Nurse, can you send in the next patient?" A concerned Alison asks Kim about the comment, but Bob tells her he was just making a joke. After everyone leaves, Casey tells Adam, "You planned an awesome day!" Margo and Adam both happily smile.
Back at work, Emily tells Hunter he can have the rest of the day off. He tells her he does not need the time off. Emily tells him she has lost a lot of people she has cared about, but remembering them brings more comfort than pain. Emily goes on to say she is not trying to replace his mom and maybe they can be good friends. He tells a hurt Emily to just stick to business.
At the Lakeview, Lisa, Bob and Kim make a toast to Casey. Kim tells him he is terrific for helping Casey. Bob kisses her and says, "You're great, too, Lisa!" Kim asks if he is trying to be funny, but Bob looks at her confused. Kim takes his drink and laughs that perhaps he has had a bit too much.
Alone after the party, Tom asks Margo if Riley is planning on leaving anytime soon. Margo gets defensive and says Riley can stay as long as he wants.
Alison skips onto the roof of the hospital, where Casey is waiting. She tells him they have a lot of time to make up for. The two happily kiss.
