Dusty wants nothing to do with James' fortune, Meg takes Paul home, Emily digs into the Stenbeck family past, Janet tries to help Jack, Margo makes a big decision and Jack turns on Carly!

Meg is trying to keep Paul calm in the hospital. He says he needs to go home to be calm so she goes to find a doctor. As soon as he is alone, James appears and calls him weak. Paul screams that James is dead; this only makes James smile. He disappears as Meg returns with a nurse. Paul apologizes for being too loud and says he just needs to be near Meg. Meg walks the nurse out and says she'll call if she needs help. Calmer, Paul asks what happened to James' body but Meg doesn't know. He asks about Dusty; Meg says she doesn't know that either. She says Paul isn't going to be arrested for the shooting at the lighthouse. Paul says he wants to go home and Meg agrees to talk to Bob about an early release. She leaves and James appears again. "There might be hope for you yet," James says. James says Dusty, though, would never let a woman take care of him.
Meg goes to see Bob and asks if she can care for Paul at home. Bob says Paul needs lots of rest and warns her to be careful. She returns to Paul and says there is good news - he can go home!

Emily tells Dusty to let her go; he tells her to come upstairs with him. Once there, Emily turns on Dusty and rages about him letting her believe he was dead. He says it was the only way to find Johnny. She apologizes for not forgiving him earlier. Dusty says all of that is in the past. He asks for her forgiveness; she isn't sure she can give it. Dusty pulls her onto his lap and asks how things have been. Emily says she threw herself into work and then had an affair with Casey. "Is he old enough?" Dusty asks. Emily says dead men can't be judgmental and asks what he did all the months he was alone. Dusty says he hasn't felt anything since he left and then says he misses her. They are about to kiss when a deliveryman brings a package. Dusty is curious because no one is supposed to know he is there. He opens the package and finds the Stenbeck family bible! Em is excited about the development and looks through the bible. She finds a letter written in Swedish and then remembers Dusty's connection to the Stenbeck family - because he is Gunnar's son and Gunnar was the real heir. Dusty says it doesn't matter because James looted the family coffers years ago. He throws the book away but Emily grabs it and asks if she can look through it. Dusty doesn't care. He says he needs to rest. Before Emily leaves, he says he may not be in town long if the search for Johnny turns up a new lead. He asks if they can be friends and then kisses her! "I have to go," Emily says weakly and scoots out the door. Dusty waits a moment and then he leaves, too.
Meg delivers Paul to Fairwinds. He is worried about the baby; Meg says the doctor cleared her and everything is fine. She goes to the kitchen. Dusty walks in and Paul gets upset. Paul grabs the fireplace poker and threatens Dusty as Meg returns. She calms him down and gets Dusty to leave. They go upstairs and she says he has to stop thinking of Dusty as a threat because that is what James wanted. Paul calms down and says he'll be fine. Meg leaves, hoping he'll rest. James appears and says Meg is obviously not over Dusty!
Emily takes the bible to Vienna, who says that the Stenbeck family was royalty in Sweden at one time. She reads the letter and tells Emily that Dusty needs to call the man who sent the bible right away.
Emily returns to Dusty's hotel room and tells him what Vienna discovered. She says she called Mr. Bergman and he will contact Dusty with further information. Dusty tells her to have the man call Paul because Dusty doesn't want anything to do with the Stenbeck family!
Jack goes to Al's and tries to get Janet to skip out on work to spend the day with him. Vienna reminds Janet that there is food to be delivered. She says she can't just skip work, which hits Jack hard. Janet tries to make things right but he says he understands and leaves.

At home, Carly gets Sage ready for a day of apple picking. Sage asks about Jack and Janet - and offers to help Carly break them up! Carly sits Sage down and tells her that she has to let Jack get on with his life. Sage doesn't want anyone to take her place in Jack's life; Carly assures her that Janet will never change the way Jack feels about her. Sage agrees to give Janet a chance.

Janet delivers lunch to Margo and tries to talk her into rehiring Jack. She points out that Jack is a great investigator and could lighten Margo's load tremendously. Margo says she can't just rehire Jack because of the things he did. Janet says Jack didn't do anything! She asks if they are talking as friends or if Margo is being the police chief. Margo says as friends; Janet admits she destroyed the evidence in Leo's case! She tells Margo everything and then begs Margo to give Jack a break and rehire him. Margo says Jack has to ask for his job back and tells Janet to leave. At the door, Janet reminds Margo that she is Jack's friend and then leaves.

Jack arrives at the apple farm as Carly and Sage are picking apples. Sage is thrilled that he is there; Jack sends her off to a special tree. Carly says he has to tell Sage that he isn't a cop soon. He says he wants to concentrate on the apple picking today. Jack says he is concentrating on seeing more in life than police work. Carly says he was born to be a cop and should admit it. As they are picking fruit, Jack says he isn't sure how to function without police work. Carly tells him to go to Margo and ask for his job back but Jack won't because that will implicate Janet and Brad in what he did. Sage throws an apple at Jack and then says it has a spider on it; Jack tosses it to Carly, who laughs. Jack tries to get the apple from her but she won't give it up. Sage smiles at her matchmaking skills. She runs off to get her dance bag. Jack picks up Carly's basket and they leave.

Janet goes to the farm, looking for Jack, and is surprised when he walks in the door with Sage and Carly. Jack helps Sage finish unloading the car. Janet asks Carly what is going on with their cozy picture and won't let the subject drop when Carly says nothing is going on. Carly insists she isn't after Jack but Janet doesn't believe her. Angry, Carly says they were only together because of Sage and tells Janet to get a grip. Jack walks in and Carly storms out. He asks Janet what happened but Margo calls before she can answer. She asks him to come downtown. He tells Janet, who is excited and encourages him. She says she'll wait there until he gets back. Carly returns a short time later and apologizes to Janet. She gives Janet some seasonings as a peace offering and says she overreacted. Janet apologizes, too, and they bake together.
Jack arrives at the police station. Margo says she knows he didn't destroy the evidence and asks him to take his job back. Jack says he can't and walks out. Margo calls Jack and leaves a message telling him not to be stupid!
Jack returns to the farm and tells Janet she had no right to go to Margo behind his back! They argue and Jack storms out. Janet turns on Carly and asks if she is happy now! She leaves. Jack returns and asks if Carly is happy now. Carly says she wasn't trying to accomplish anything except to see him happy but Jack doesn't believe her. He tells Carly to butt out of his life!
