Emma changes her mind about the project, Derek decides to talk, Holden and Lily want to try again, Janet confronts Jack about Carly and Paul decides to work alone.
Jack stops by Carly's to tell her about his freelance gig. She bugs him until he tells her that James kidnapped Meg; Jack swears her to secrecy but asks if she can take the kids for a while. She agrees. Jack asks her to talk to Janet for him because he has to leave quickly; Carly immediately objects but Jack convinces her to do it.
Holden and Lily wake up in bed together. Both are certain this is a new beginning for them.
Alison and Aaron wake up, still talking about babies. They go downstairs and leave for their days. Emma and Janet are talking about cooking when Mike arrives to tell her that work can begin at the job site soon. Emma stuns him when she says she is calling off the project! He tries to talk her out of it but Emma is determined. Carly arrives and takes Janet outside. Janet is annoyed that Jack didn't even call and storms off to find him. Emma calls out and Carly says things are fine. She turns to go as Holden and Lily walk in looking very chummy. Holden follows Carly out and asks if they can talk. Carly says she knows what is going on and is fine with it. He says Ethan's ordeal made them both see things more clearly. Carly asks what happens when the drama is over.
In the kitchen, Emma tells Lily that she is canceling the project. Lily says Emma has to think about her financial future but Emma remains determined and leaves the kitchen. Mike says he'll be moving on, too, unless Lily wants him to stay in Oakdale. Lily says things have changed and he shouldn't stay in town on her behalf. Holden returns inside. Lucinda arrives with Luke and Brian. Emma says her idea is to turn the land into a park for kids. Lucinda says she'll get a big write-off for that and Brian says he can help her raise money for the park. Holden and Lily leave.
Paul convinces Bonnie to take on Derek's case but Derek surprises her when he says he doesn't want her on the case after all! Derek calls her on Paul's plans and she angrily says she wouldn't spy on anyone. She is about to go when Derek calls her back and says he wants her on the case. He says he will give them everything on James in exchange for immunity. Dallas comes in and says a deal isn't in the cards. Bonnie tells Derek to give the cops something first and Derek agrees to talk.
Jack walks in to the police station but there is no news. Janet walks in and demands that he talk to her and show her respect. Jack leaves with her so they can talk. Barbara arrives. Paul asks why James is doing this. Barbara says the baby Meg is carrying is probably what James is after. Paul throws his coffee cup at the door and swears James won't take his family.
Alison meets Emily and Casey for lunch at The Lakeview. She tells them about her baby plans and Emily immediately poo-poos the idea, telling Alison that she doesn't want kids. Chris walks in, distracting Alison. Casey and Emily argue about kids - he thinks Alison should have kids and Emily doesn't. Alison loses her appetite and walks out. Casey and Emily argue a little more until Emily says sex and kids are two different things. Casey says they should concentrate on the sex!
Emily and Casey get to her office and Casey says he doesn't want to use a condom, which sets Emily off. She says he can't touch her without protection; he gives in and they make love. After, Casey starts talking about babies, annoying Emily. He can't understand why she isn't into the baby thing.
Janet and Jack have coffee at Java. She says he needs to admit that Carly is his go-to woman! Jack says he is working through some stuff and asks for time. Janet sadly says she is a one-man-woman in need of a one-woman-man and he doesn't fit the bill!
Alison follows Chris to the hospital and accuses him of stalking her! Chris says she has to get used to seeing him around and brings up the night they made love. She tries to withstand his advances but Chris keeps coming on strong. She turns away and walks out. Chris follows her. Alison says if he loves her he has to let her go!
Jack returns to the police station and narrowly misses being hit by Paul's coffee mug! Dallas comes out and says Derek is about to tell them everything. Jack, Barbara and Paul follow him into the interrogation room. Derek says James has a house on the beach on the East Coast but he doesn't know where. He says James won't hurt Meg because he wants her baby! Paul, Jack and Barbara exit the room, wondering what to do now. Derek says he only worked for James because of the blackmail; he begs Bonnie to believe in him. Jack suggests they start sending out fliers. Paul says that isn't enough and storms out.
Janet goes to Carly's and says she has won! She says she can't fight the connection and when Carly says their connection is over Janet won't listen. Carly tells Janet to take whatever Jack has to offer. Janet asks why Carly isn't fighting for him and walks out.
Alison goes to The Lakeview and asks Aaron to come with her so they can work on their 'project' some more. He leaves to find someone to cover his shift.
Holden and Lily return home with the kids, who suggest a cook out that night. Lily and Holden agree and send the kids off to get cleaned up. Faith stays behind and asks if they are really getting back together. Holden says they are trying. "You really have to try," Faith says quietly and goes upstairs. Holden and Lily agree to be very careful about how much they tell the kids. Holden asks about Mike. Lily says with the development on hold, he is going to return to Europe and she is fine with that. Lily asks about Carly and Holden says she is happy that they are trying again. They kiss.
James gets Meg to his house on the beach and drags her inside.
