Mike takes Lily and the girls for a day on the town, Lily tells Carly that Holden is hers for the having, Aaron proposes to Alison, Chris rescues Dani in the morgue and Holden makes a move on Carly.
Alison is checking her email at the farm and finds she scored a B+ on her latest exam. She is thrilled and shares the news with Aaron, who is just as excited. He asks how she is feeling - about him! She skirts the issue and he sends her to the refrigerator; while she is distracted, he hides something underneath a towel. She makes a sandwich and when she opens her sandwich to spread mustard, an engagement ring is inside! Aaron gets on one knee and asks her to marry him! She is shocked and waves the mustard knife in his face. Aaron says he wants to love her the rest of his life and that they need to stop playing games with one another. She says she loves him but she needs time to get readjusted to them being in love, her school and life in general. She says she doesn't want to make any more mistakes but that this isn't a no. Aaron places the ring on her finger and suggests she give it a test drive of sorts. She laughs and agrees. Aaron goes upstairs and Alison tries to take off the ring but changes her mind.
At the hospital, Chris runs into Dani, who asks for his help with her job. Chris introduces her to the Mort-the-Morgue-Guy. He gives Dani files on all of the people who died violent deaths. Another body is brought in and Dani convinces Mort to let her stay for the autopsy. Mort pulls back the covering and Dani faints! Chris wakes her and they flirt over her inability to view a cadaver. She leaves. Susan finds Chris and tells him Alison's good grade news. She is excited and says Allie will be there soon with even better news.
Alison runs into Chris at the hospital and is surprised when he says Susan is broadcasting her grade all over the hospital; Alison is relieved that he doesn't know about the proposal and hides her hand behind her back. Chris asks what is going on. She won't let him see her hand and he angrily leaves. She follows and apologizes. In the hall, they bump into Dani, who thanks Chris for his help earlier. She is put off by the other woman, especially when Dani invites Chris to lunch. They leave.
Aaron finds Susan and asks about Alison. Susan asks what is going on and he says she'll have to ask Allie. Aaron and Susan find Alison a few moments later. She holds up the ring, stunning Susan. She is thrilled but is called away to consult on a patient. Susan says they'll talk wedding plans soon.
At The Lakeview, Holden runs into Mike. Holden can't hold his feelings in and accuses Mike of getting between him and Lily! Mike points out that he isn't the one who ruined Holden's marriage. Holden admits he is right but still doesn't like it. He leaves.
Lily brings the girls to Fashions for some back to school clothes. Lisa tries to get rid of her but Lily won't leave. Carly walks out of one dressing room, upsetting Lily. She holds it together until the girls run off to find Sage - and then she tells Carly that Holden is free and clear! Carly is stunned but Lily insists that she is done with Holden and the papers are signed. She leaves. Lisa and Carly are stunned; Carly decides to buy the fancy dress she tried on. Lily calls Mike and they flirt by phone. She asks for a second try at their first date. He agrees. Faith overhears part of the conversation and questions Lily. "Are you trying to get back at Dad?" she asks. Lily tries to make Faith understand that she has to move on.
Carly returns home, puts her packages away and calls Holden! She mentions that the kids are away and then brings up Lily and their run in. "She invited me to help myself - to you!" Carly says, shocking and insulting Holden. He says they don't need any kind of permission. Carly points out that this could be a golden opportunity for them! She suggests a normal, ordinary date and he accepts.
Mike arrives at Lily's; Faith is out of sorts so Lily cancels their date - again! Mike is understanding but then comes up with a better idea. He says they should all go to Magic Land Amusement Park together! The girls are excited. Natalie and Sage hurry off but Faith stays behind and asks if Mike is trying to buy them. He charmingly says he isn't trying to buy them, just rent their fun company for a day. She doesn't change her attitude. Lily tells her to go get her things and offers to let Mike off the hook. He says he is looking forward to the day.
Carly meets Holden in her new, sexy dress at The Lakeview. He is stunned and they sit down to order. They talk about food likes and dislikes, playing the get to know you game. She talks about Sage's dance classes and asks about Natalie and Faith. Holden says the girls are bored and he's been thinking about taking them to Magic Land for a day. They both agree that this first date isn't working. Carly wonders what is going on but Holden doesn't know, either. He says they should just go and takes her to his room. They sit on the bed and chat but Carly is still uncomfortable. He kisses her but she pulls back and says this is wrong. "I think without the guilt and sneaking around, there's nothing there," she says but Holden disagrees. She insists that their hotness has fizzled out; he says they just need time. She says they have to face that fact that they aren't meant to be together and they were just using one another to forget about their real life problems! Holden says he wasn't using her - or Lily! - that way! Carly says he may not have realized he was doing it. She leaves.
Mike and Lily arrive at the amusement park with the girls. She asks what he is planning; he says he is just trying to get to know all of them. They go to the games area. Faith says he'll never win because Holden said the games were rigged but Mike manages to win all of the girls the biggest stuffed animals in the park!
Holden arrives at Carly's, startling her. He kisses her, says she was wrong about them and that what they felt was real and still is. He kisses her again and pulls her onto the couch and they make love. Sage arrives a short time later, telling Carly that Natalie got sick after their day at Magic Land. She chatters on about Lily's new boyfriend while Holden hurriedly dresses in the other room, listening. She talks about the amusement park and how great Mike was at winning all the games. She heads for the kitchen but Carly stops her so she won't see Holden. She promises to bring Sage a drink and Sage goes upstairs. Carly hustles Holden out the door. He says he is okay with Sage's revelations and hugs Carly.
Mike takes Lily and the girls home. She kisses him. He says this was a great day, partially because she didn't mention Holden at all.
