New Romance Blooming?

Tuesday, August 19 2008
Dani is taken with Chris, there are more problems with Paul's farm project, Bonnie is taken with Derek, Aaron refuses Chris' medical attention and Alison reacts badly to Dani's attraction to Chris.

At the farm, Emma calls in Mike. She says the vet just came to check on the large animals and discovered that they are all ill, most likely because of the poison! They call Paul at home and he agrees to come right over. Meg insists on tagging along even though she feels ill.

Paul arrives at the farm. Meg goes inside. He and Mike continue to the job site and are discussing the case when Emily walks up and demands to know what is going on. Mike leaves to check on the site. Paul says he took over the project and there are no problems. He warns Emily not to keep pushing this or she'll lose her newspaper! She follows him doggedly until he admits there is a lot of money riding on the project and he doesn't want her to ruin it! Emily pounces and Paul says the money isn't his!

In the kitchen, Emma worries about what this new setback means for the farm and for Paul. Meg promises her that everything will be fine. Emma goes upstairs to rest. Mike returns and says she shouldn't make promises like she just did to Emma. Meg sits down at the table, feeling badly.

Alison and Aaron arrive at the hospital for the first of his shots. Chris walks up and says he is Aaron's doctor today. Aaron refuses his care. Susan hears their raised voices and offers to take over for Chris. Chris and Alison go to the hall where they run into Dani. She is immediately taken with Chris and asks Alison what his story is! As they talk, Alison becomes very uncomfortable about her seeing Chris. Susan and Aaron interrupt and Alison introduces Aaron. Susan invites them all to lunch but Dani has an appointment.

Casey runs into Margo at Java as he is waiting for Emily. Margo suggests that this is Emily's way of moving on but Casey won't listen to her. She leaves. Casey calls again and again but Em doesn't answer. He wonders if she is blowing him off.

Bonnie is working at Metro when Derek arrives. He asks about lunch and she says they don't serve food. He charms her and she invites him to join her for lunch - if he'll tell her his name and his business. He says he is Derek and is new to town. She is serving him a sandwich when Henry walks in and questions Derek about his business. He says he helps fund start-up companies. As they chat, Bonnie tells Henry how Paul's plans are going. Derek listens intently as Bonnie says the project is in real jeopardy. Derek asks a few questions and Bonnie tells him the full story, including how worried she is about getting her legal fees from the deal. He leaves.

Alison, Aaron and Susan are eating at Al's. Alison can't stop talking about Dani and her interest in Chris. She and Susan refresh their memories of Dani; Aaron says she is kind of an in-your-face girl. Susan says that is just like Betsy. Susan realizes she is late for work and hurries off. Aaron and Alison leave, too.

Mike takes Meg to the hospital. She insists she is fine but he won't listen. Mike goes to find a doctor and Meg calls Paul.

Dani meets with a Mr. Ross at The Lakeview and lands the job that brought her to town. He leaves and she celebrates with a drink at the bar. She orders as Chris walks in. Dani takes his wine advice and they talk about Paris, where they both lived for a while. She invites him to join her job celebration; he accepts. As they are talking, Alison and Aaron arrive. Aaron could care less about Dani's job - or her interest in Chris - but Alison is obviously thrown. Aaron goes to find his boss about some time off. She thanks Chris for helping Aaron. Aaron calls to her that they can go. Dani turns to Chris and asks if there is something going on between him and Alison! He says they have history and Aaron doesn't like him. She says that Alison is over him and Aaron should get over his anger. Chris is upset but hides it.

Casey storms into Emily's office as she is arguing with Paul about the story. Casey gets into it with Paul, who says he should back off and calls Emily a cradle robber. He warns Emily, again, to back off. She tells him to stop keeping secrets. Meg calls and finally gets through to Paul. She is about to tell him why she is at the hospital when she collapses. Paul runs from the office. Casey asks Em what is really going on. She says Paul is hiding something and she is going to find out what it is. Emily believes this is her chance to change The Intruder from a gossip rag to a legitimate newspaper. Casey helps her find some information online. She learns the permits have been revoked and decides to bump the story to the front page. Casey tries to distract her with sex but Emily pushes him away! Emily finally finishes and is happy with her work. Casey is annoyed because he has to leave for class. Emily tells him to blow off class but he won't.

Paul gets to the hospital but Meg is in the testing lab so he angrily turns on Mike. Mike says he was just trying to be a friend and Paul backs off. The doctor says he can go inside so Mike leaves. Paul apologizes to Meg; she says she understands.

Derek shows up at the farm and questions Mike about the project. Mike calls Paul, who says he'll be right there.

Paul returns to Meg's hospital room. She says she is okay and before she can say more, he says he has to get back to the farm. He realizes that there is something more going on but Meg won't say what it is. He leaves so she can dress. Meg clutches her belly. "All the other details I'll fill in later," she says happily!

Alison takes Aaron home, still talking about Dani. He says it could be good for Chris to get distracted with another woman; Alison doesn't say anything but is obviously unsure about that.

Paul takes Meg to the kitchen and then hurries back to the job site. Meg asks Emma how she is feeling and Emma says she is much better. She asks about Meg; Meg says Mike took care of her after a fainting spell but that she is fine. She tells Emma she is pregnant and Emma hugs her. Meg says she is waiting for the perfect moment to tell Paul.

At the job site, Paul takes Derek aside and asks what he is doing. Derek says he is just checking up on things. Paul tells him to get off the property - or else! Derek warns Paul not to forget about their 30-day time limit and leaves.

Next on As The World Turns:

Brian warns Luke about being openly gay.

Katie convinces Brad to set Liberty up on a blind date.

Janet angrily tells Brad to stop interfering in Libs' life.

Liberty's date with Leo doesn't go as planned.

I don't like what ATWT is doing to Paul's character. Hasn't he been through enough for the past year or so? Emily shoots him. Meg nurses him to health and falls in love w/him. Craig almost killed him twice - once in a car accident; shoots him/falls off of a cliff... Later, loses baby with Meg. Ordeal w/Sophie. Just got Meg back from the poison jewelry and now the poison land. Please, give someone else a s/l and let Paul rest.

I can't believe Bonnie, a lawyer, would spill her guts to a stranger about her new/ex client. Whether the information was a matter of public record or not, she should not have talked about it. She got played like a violin. I guess men are short and hard to come by in Oakdale.

Just how many acres does Emma own? Did I hear Mike right when he said the poison was covering about "sixty" acres? That would be the size of Oakdale plus some. I know Emma lived in Luther Corners, but I didn't think she owned that much land. I thought she was only selling all but 7 acres or so. I know she wanted the farm house and the pond. I was under the impression that the farm was paid in full.

What's happening to the soaps these days. They are soo boring. I now only record 1 soap. ATWT and GL are just a waste of time. No wonder they only have a few comments, people just stopped watching. I record Lifetime movies instead.

Um... Bonnie! Can we say malpractice! Not only should you not get your fees from Paul, but he should sue you. What is she thinking discussing you client's business to a stranger you met in a bar? And Paul? If he can't get the money for the farm in one month why would he take a one-month loan? Where's mom? Why can't Lily and Lucinda pitch in too? These characters have event horizon that is only marginally longer than the noses on their faces!

In handing out the Stupid Awards today there is a 3 way tie 1. Bonnie, have you not ever heard of client/attorney privellege? if not dear. You need to go back to school! You also need to learn not to spill your guts to the first man that walks through the door. Duh! People get killed for things like that. The 2nd winner is Emily. Down Girl! You need to think about who you are hurting in your quest to hurt Paul......3. Casey - Down Boy! You are like a frisky puppy just waiting for your mistress to throw you a ball or have sex.....pulease can't you muster just a little dignity?

Seriously, what's up with Emily? Who does she think she is, and why are the people in this town so dumb, that none of them know how to say No? Paul should have walked away from Emily, sued her should she print something, told the loanshark to get off of his land, and acted like the boss he is supposed to be.
