It's Just A Harmless Distraction...Friday, June 20 2008 |
Jack and Janet, Brad and Katie run into each other at Yo's, Liberty cons Parker into doing her work, Holden and Carly are drawn together, Lily is disappointed when Holden calls off their trip.
Jack is at the police station, trying to keep himself occupied when Dallas walks in. Dallas and two other cops tease Jack about his lack of paperwork skills and then invite him for a drink at Yo's.
At the hotel, Janet is bored so she calls Liberty for a movie date. Brad overhears Lib's side of the conversation and nixes the idea. Janet hangs up and decides to go out alone. The Lakeview bartender points her toward Yo's.

Katie walks in the front door and Brad pulls her into a hug. He carries her off to the bedroom while Liberty giggles at them. In their bedroom, Katie says she doesn't have the energy to help Libs with school. It's 80's night at Yo's so Brad suggests a date and they leave. Liberty immediately texts Parker. When he arrives, they go to Katie and Brad's bedroom to do homework and watch TV. Parker is distracted by her perfume; Liberty invites him closer to sniff her neck. Then, she rolls over and goes to sleep. She lays her head on his shoulder; Parker wakes her up when he is done with math. She thanks him for his help, kisses his cheek and says they should study again sometime. Parker leaves.

At Yo's, the cops with Jack all make eyes at Janet. Jack settles them down and invites Janet over for a drink. Katie and Brad - dressed like Madonna and Don Johnson in their 80's gear - arrive and start dancing. Brad sees Janet with Jack and decides to leave but Katie wants to stay. He interrupts the other two, who are getting quite comfortable with each other, and asks if they are dating. Jack and Janet say they're just friends. Katie sidetracks Brad and gets him to dance with her. Jack and Janet continue their bantering and decide to play a trivia game. On the dance floor, Brad can't stop watching Jack and Janet, annoying Katie. He steps on her toes and they take a seat. Janet hears her favorite high school song - the song they danced to at the prom. Brad doesn't remember but pretends to. Katie tells them they should dance. While they are dancing, Janet tries to relive their high school days but Brad questions her about Jack. He says it is weird that she is flirting with Liberty's uncle. At the bar, Jack asks Katie if she is jealous of Janet; she says no. Janet returns but when another of their prom songs comes on, makes a beeline for Brad. Jack stops her, saying prom night was a long time ago and she needs to let go. Another song comes on and they dance together. Brad makes fun of them and then walks out. Katie follows him. Jack offers to take Janet home and they leave together.

At The Lakeview, Janet questions Jack about farm life. He laughs and says they all have chores that have to be done but life on the farm is great. He invites her to stop by; she invites him in for a drink. Jack turns her down because he's driving.

Liberty is watching TV in their bedroom when Brad and Katie get home. She proudly shows them her homework and then teases them about their outfits. Katie cleans up the school mess. Brad brings up Janet and Jack, saying it bothered him because Jack is his brother. Katie says Jack and Janet are no more out of place than she and Brad are. "They both need a distraction," she points out. He goes to the kitchen for a drink but then calls Janet to make sure she got home okay. "Jealous boy," she says smugly.
Lily looks for Holden but can't find him. She finds his phone, which is ringing, and wonders where he is. A stable hand says Holden couldn't have gone far and suggests that Lily take a look for him near the stream.

Near the stream, Holden says he wants Lily and the kids to be happy but that they can't be like they once were. She tells him to fight for his marriage. "But all I can think about is you," he says! He keeps pushing her and Carly admits she can't stop thinking about him either. He is about to kiss her when Lily calls out from down the path. Carly grabs her horse and runs off. Holden tells Lily he needed some air and they head back to the barn together. When they return, Lily notices Carly's horse and wonders where it came from. Holden says the horse must be Eddie-the-stable-boy's and tries to convince Lily of that but she insists it isn't Eddie's. They walk back to the house, making plans for their trip. Holden suddenly says they need to postpone! He says Eddie isn't ready to be in charge. Lily suggests they hire another hand but Holden insists he needs to be there. He says they go to Montana in a couple of weeks.

Carly stops her car by the side of the road and looks at the Montana flyers. She returns to the farm. Lily tells her the trip is off for now because there are too many things that need attention at the farm. Carly leaves the brochures as Lily takes a call from Lucinda. Holden walks Carly out. On the porch, he insists that there is too much farm work to be done but Carly doesn't believe him. He returns inside. Lily says she is disappointed and they kiss. Carly watches them.
