Janet makes her Oakdale return. Katie is hurt by Brad's attitude. Barbara warns Sofie to keep her distance from Paul. Paul and Meg work to solve a problem.
At the farm, Meg and Mike talk about Paul. She admits that she was thrown to see Paul with Sofie. Mike doesn't believe her when she says she is over that now. Tired of explaining herself, she tells him to get to work. He leaves. Meg is wrapping up some housework when one of her neighbors arrives, upset because the construction project has flooded her kitchen! Meg tries to reach Mike but can't.
At Fairwinds, Sofie arrives and thanks Paul for making her feel welcome at the Metro reopening. He blows off her thanks. She gives him a pair of cuff links and asks him to go out with her again so he can be a walking advertisement for her jewelry line. Just then Barbara arrives; Paul focuses on her, asking how she is feeling. She sends Sofie to the kitchen for tea and then orders Paul to stop whatever it is he has going on with Sofie! Sofie returns; Barbara tells her that Paul has agreed to fund the jewelry line. Sofie is touched but Paul says it is just business. Meg calls and he leaves. Sofie tries to convince Barbara - and herself! - that Paul is in love with her. Babs sets Sofie straight, saying he will never love her the way he loves Meg. Babs says Sofie needs to come to terms with Paul's true feelings - or leave town! She leaves Sofie to think about things. When she returns, Sofie says she won't leave Oakdale because then Babs won't have anyone to care for her.
At the farm, Paul gets the construction workers to work on the neighbor's kitchen. A while later, he returns to say things will be set to rights very soon. He even offers to redo her flooring! The neighbor is charmed by him and leaves. Laughing, Meg thanks him for helping out. Just then Mike arrives and asks what is going on. He threatens to throw Paul out! Meg calms him down by explaining about the problem with the neighbors. Paul pretends to be hurt by Mike's overreaction to the problem and leaves. Meg insists things were strictly business with Paul but Mike doesn't believe her. She says calling Paul was the last thing she wanted but she couldn’t reach him. Mike still doesn't believe her.
Paul returns home, upset. Babs and Sofie ask what is going on and he says he is starting to realize that a professional relationship is all he'll have with Meg.
Brad and Katie wake at The Lakeview and make love. He wants to stay in bed all day but she says they have work and Liberty to worry about. She gets ready for work as Brad calls Liberty to make plans for their day. Katie arrives at WOAK, where Henry is waiting for her. Katie fills him in on the Janet situation. She notices two techs watching the chest-shots of Janet's appearances on Oakdale Now. Henry tells Katie that she can't just push Janet out of Liberty's life but Katie insists that isn't what she is doing.
In Old Town, Liberty is flirting with a couple of kids from school, telling them about her hotel room. Janet walks up and tells the boys to go try the food at Al's. Just then Brad calls but Lib ignores it. Janet introduces herself to the boys, who quickly leave. Liberty demands to know why Janet is back but doesn't believe her when Janet says she couldn't bring herself to leave Lib. They return to Liberty's room. Brad arrives after Liberty leaves. He is stunned when Janet comes out of the bathroom wearing only a towel! He tells Janet she has to leave but she insists that she can't abandon Liberty. Just then the girl walks in, wondering what Janet is up to. Katie calls but Brad doesn't tell her about Janet's return. Eager to spend time with both parents, Liberty shows them a photo album and fills Brad in on her life thus far. Katie arrives. She is very upset that Brad didn't tell her the truth and takes him into the hall. Brad says this isn't a big deal and that he didn't know Janet had returned but Katie feels betrayed. He says she couldn't explain because she isn't a parent, hurting her feelings even more. Brad asks her to wait and then goes in to talk to Liberty. Lib assures him things are fine but when he returns to the hall, Katie is gone. He finds her in their room. Brad says he loves her and didn't mean to hurt her. They kiss.
Back in the hotel room, Liberty looks at a picture of Brad and puts it with a picture of her and Janet.
