November 17 – November 21
A wedding, a kiss and a court hearing. Wow, this week had it's 'aaaah' moments and it 'oh-my-bleeding-eyes' moments.
On with the blog!
Brian's Gay?
Okay, many of you have said you saw Brian's homosexuality – or bisexuality, the verdict is still out – coming from a mile away. I have to say, I didn't. And I'm finding it really. . .well, icky. Not the homosexuality, the kiss with Luke. That's just wrong on so many levels. New-step-grandpa kisses new-step-grandson, it's a headline waiting to happen, and one twist that Luke doesn't need at this point. He's already half-way gone over the lost election and Noah, now he has to deal with a possibly gay step-grandfather who may or may not be after grandma's millions?
Boy the writers really want him to lose all of his internal organs to alcoholism, don't they?
I'm also disappointed in this on Lucinda's behalf. Elizabeth Hubbard (Lucinda) finally gets a great storyline and they throw this wrench in the works? I know soap operas are a young medium, but that doesn't mean the older characters all have to be wall-flowers or set-decoration pulled out at Thanksgiving and Christmas, either. Lucinda deserves a great romance. So do Barbara and Lisa and Emma; yet they keep having their stories railroaded by younger actors or storylines that disappear in the night (seriously, do any of you know how Barbara's cancer storyline ended? Because I watch every day and they've never really wrapped it up!).
Lily and Holden
Although the re-exchange of wedding rings was a really great moment for Lily and Holden this week it was tempered by one thing: Carly. I'm all for Lily and Carly to get their friendship back on track; but they are leaning way too heavily on one another considering the Carly/Holden affair is less than six months in the past. Yeah, soap opera time is faster than real life, but six months? That's a little bit quick.

He's still on my list, folks. Why? Because I hate a whiner. I hate whiners in real life and I really hate them in my entertainment and the last few weeks Luke has become a whiner. He whined about Kevin, he whined about losing the election, he whined about Noah getting him expelled (and since when did Noah stuff the ballot box?!?!) and he whined about Noah leaving him. Note to Luke: Dude, you did this all yourself. Now go have some coffee and when you're ready to listen, we can have a chat.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid the grandpa-lip-smacking incident is only going to send him farther over the edge. Which means my ears and my eyeballs will be bleeding soon.
The Sage Mess
Okay, she finally came clean. Now, could the parents of Sage please stand up? Thanks. Carly, you stood by your daughter and I applaud you. Jack, you made her tell the truth and I applaud you. Janet, sit down, you're not in on this just yet. Back to Jack and Carly. Both of you have some 'splainin' to do and it's going to start this time with therapy. Seriously. You need family therapy. You, the kids and a therapist. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to shut up and listen to your kids. Then shut up and listen to one another. No, I said listen not talk over. Then, move on.
I really can't fault Carly for standing up for her kid but I can fault her for the way she did it. Standing up for the kiddo was 100% on target. Jumping to the restraining order/custody battle was overkill. Sure Jack was acting like a know it all, but when doesn't he? Carly should have taken his one sound bit of advice – getting Sage to a family counseling session – so they could talk out what was really going on.
I can – and will – fault Jack for automatically dismissing Sage's claims. Yeah, she's been a little liar the past few weeks and yes she's done some bad things. But shoving Janet down her throat was not helping the matter. She needed a little one-on-one daddy time and nothing short of that would have made her see the truth – that you and Carly are over. Even if, as viewers, we know you're really never over. That's another story.
Spencer's Not Dead
Okay Spencer being alive was no surprise to me. Dani being in on whatever Spencer has going on? That was a shocker. When did these two meet? What brought them into orbit and why is Dani the apparent ring leader? So many questions and so little time. Oh, I'm so confused – and loving it!
Dusty and nu-Jennifer
You know, I was on Josie's side until Friday. Sleeping with Dusty because she feels connected to his deceased wife? That's just a little icky to me. I'm still not sure what has brought Josie to town but the more she plays the "I have a mysterious connection" card the more I think she's up to something.
Final Thoughts
Who knew a marriage could set a soap opera on it's heels so much? A simple wedding. Oh, the drama!
Until next Friday, fans!
