Are Lily and Holden over? (Soaps.com)
As The Week Turned
October 6 - October 10

Life became very interesting in Oakdale this week, my friends, and I'm loving it! A few people got backbones, a few people made life decisions and Paul continued his downward spiral into true Stenbeckness (that's my new word of the week).

On with the blog!

James

We begin this week with Mr. Madness himself. I'm still not convinced that James is really dead, and if he is I'm really, really upset! Only James could wreak more havoc 'dead' than he could 'alive'. Was the reading of the will apropos, or what? James tells the gathering, including Meg and Emily, that he knew he was dying so he decided to find the true Stenbeck heir. We know that, by birth, that would automatically be Dusty but to James True Heir means Just Like Me Heir. So he set Dusty and Paul up to fight to the death and inserted Meg into the middle of their duel because he knows both have savior complexes. Makes perfect sense to me. And gives him power, even in the grave, to wreak havoc in Oakdale.

The funniest part of the reading, though, was when Paul picked up the urn and took it with him, saying it was the only way he could gloat over his father. Priceless!

Paul

You know what I've never understood about Paul, though? Why he's so…enamored of James. Say what you will, but the master manipulator (that would be James) shouldn't be such a master after decades of messing with Paul's head. He said it himself last week, James shouldn't have power over him.

Which leads me full-circle to James-Can't-Be-Dead.

You know what I hope is going on? I hope James really isn't dead. I hope he's drugging Paul - talking to ghosts, sounds familiar doesn't it? Just like Meg and a little ghostie we call Sofie! - to make Paul crazy. Yep, that's what I hope is going on. Because I like bad, dark Paul. Light, bright Paul is boring but dark Paul is sexy and fun and a true match for Dusty's Superhero character!

Dusty and Emily

Months away from Oakdale didn't dim the sexual chemistry between Dusty and Emily one bit, did it fans? Is anyone else getting facial burns from their televisions after watching Dusty and Emily kiss and argue and kiss and make love and argue some more? Now that is what soaps are all about!

You know what I found interesting this week? You guys are as glad as I am that Dusty's back; from last week's poll, 67% of you were just happy that Prince Donovan was back in town to dust things up. From there, though, the poll got weird. Many of you want to see Dusty and Margo go head to head, some of you want to see Holden and Dusty finally fight it out and many of you want to see Dusty in a whole new light - with Katie! Now that I didn't see coming. Dusty and Katie. Hmmm…I can see it. And it would give Brad something seriously meaty to bite into.

Lily and Holden and Lucinda

Lily and Holden still seem to be circling the drain as their relationship slips away. Lily is more upset and Dusty-fied than ever, Holden is ready to clock Dusty and Lucinda keeps butting in, telling Lily that she should ignore Dusty and telling Holden that Dusty is going to ruin his life. Note to Lucinda: this isn't helping the situation!

I've said this many, many times on the boards but I don't find anything wrong with Lily have a deep bond with Dusty and I don't know why Lucinda and Holden do. They both need to take a step back and let Lily make her own decisions.

Who doesn't love Emily and Dusty? (Soaps.com)
This week, Lily really showed some backbone when she didn't immediately accept Lucinda's apology and instead told her to stay away from the family. That backbone slipped a little bit when Holden asked why she felt so compelled to talk to or see Dusty. Lily needs to realize that there is something inside of Dusty that she needs - strength! Dusty doesn't care what people think and he doesn't cave in to others' wants. Lily has always been bullied - from Lucinda to Holden - into doing 'what is best'. I say stomp all over that compunction, Lily, and follow your heart!

She isn't meant to be with Dusty and she knows it but Dusty can help her get to the life she really wants.

Brad, Katie and Spencer

Looks like the latest Snyder couple isn't going to have long to sit and be happy. With the addition of Spencer to the WOAK stable this week, it looks like things are heating right back up for Brad and Katie. Although I'd like them to have a little downtime, I do like Spencer! She's fun and different and should put the spark back into things for Brad and Katie.

Jack, Janet and Carly

Somebody needs to hand Janet a big, fat clue because the woman just isn't getting it. Women involved with Jack cannot be friends with Carly. I'm not hating on the woman, but she is too emotionally attached to Jack. Carly has said time and time again that she is over her ex but one trip to the apple orchard and one shared apple and we all saw that the sparks are still there - for both Carly and Jack. On the one hand, I applaud Carly for trying to get Jack and Janet together. On the other hand, I have to side with Janet because it does seem like Carly is insinuating herself back into Jack's life. Janet is too fun a character, though, to leave town so I want her to find a new man. Not Brad, not Jack. She might be fun with Dusty. Or somebody new could come in to sweep her off her feet.

Aaron and Alison

Let me just say that I heaved a sigh of relief on Thursday when Alison finally told Aaron that they needed to look for love elsewhere. I do love the connection of these two characters but their latest love story just didn't sizzle. Maybe after some time apart, it could happen, but now it's best to move on. Alison showed that she is maturing by walking away, which was a long time coming! And, did I mention that I liked the chemistry with Casey? Now that is a Hughes/Stewart match I might be able to root for. Casey's video game solution was fun and different. Plus, their ages work!

Meanwhile, Chris left town, and again a sigh. This time, though, a sigh of sadness. I'm going to miss seeing Chris on a weekly basis; not Chris and Aaron or Chris and Alison but Chris alone. His last scene with Kim? I cried a little! Chris was a great character and I hope they come up with a good storyline and bring him back - soon!

What about you, fans? Are you going to miss Chris? Are you ready for a CarJack reunion? Is Paul's craziness making you a happy camper? Talk to Soaps.com about it below!

Well, I love Dusty and Emily! They are actually what got me back to watching this soap last year, after about ten years of never tuning in. Loved that they found their way back to each other so quickly and are at least talking about their past mistakes with each other. I wish Chris wasn't leaving, he had so much potential on this show. I too think James is still alive, and continuing to torment his son. The return of James and Dusty has been a great storyline. Seems like it has brought a lot of energy back to this show.

Chris has a great look and yes I'm not happy to see him go but he was in stalker mode. I mean every time Ally turns around, there his was. Frankly, it was getting on my nerves in his last few days.

Carly and Jack well what can I say. I did like the fact that he was getting on with his life with Janet, but Janet was stupid by burning the evidence, she sealed the deal. Let's be real there is only one woman for Jack--it's Carly.

Paul needs some help. I hate that they are making the character crazy because of his {dead?} dad. Give the fool a break, let him be in control at least for the birth of his child. We really don't need an imitation James and that's all Paul will be. Change his outlook on life. Make the baby his reason for change. Hell, even Barbara came around and I actually love the change she has made.
