A show representative tells Soaps.com that Noelle Beck (ex-Trisha, Loving) will take over the role after Martha's exit. You can read more about Martha's exit here. Martha's last day on the set was March 14, she will last air in April.
Martha Byrne played Lily for the better part of two decades. She actually began starring on the show as a teenager! Two other actresses, Heather Rattray and Lucy Deakins, also played the oft-married "good daughter" of Lucinda Walsh. Martha, however, put her stamp on the character and it has been hard for fans to warm up to any other actress in the role.
Noelle Beck is no stranger to daytime television, though her last daytime role was that of Trisha McKenzie on the now-defunct Loving. Since leaving daytime, Noelle has been a regular on shows such as "Sex and the City", "Central Park West" and "Rescue Me". This past fall she appeared as Cilla Grey on the new hit "Cashmere Mafia". In addition to these regular roles you may have caught her on episodes of all three "Law & Order" franchises or in made-for-television flicks like "My Sexiest Mistake" or "Naked Brothers Band Movie". Later this year she is set to appear in the television movie "Frame of Mind".
The character of Lily has had her ups and downs including countless drug addictions, several marriages and one lasting love. This past year has been especially hard on her: after waking from a coma, she learned husband Holden wasn't certain he wanted to be married. She turned to good friend Dusty Donovan to drown her sorrows; they formed a tight bond for a while until Dusty admitted he wasn't over Emily Stewart. When he turned Lily away, she turned to drugs (again!). Dusty was later murdered and Lily became one of many suspects. One good thing came of the ordeal: Holden realized he did love her and wanted to try again. Lily has had a hard time dealing with Dusty's death, however, and it appears to be driving another wedge between the couple.
Rumor has it that the turmoil surrounding Dusty's death will lead Lily to take off for a while. Will she return a stronger woman? Only time will tell!
In the mean time, Soaps.com welcomes Noelle Beck to the cast! We wish you the best of luck!
