Carly sits by the water and thinks of kissing Jack. She tells herself that it's time to move on. "To the past... to the future that will never be," she toasts, taking a swig of beer. Craig approaches her after finding her car by the side of the road. He confronts her for drinking. She doesn't want his advice or his judgments. He announces that he's done with her. She finds that hard to believe. He reminds her that they used to be in love and he still worries about her. "You need something else to put your energy into," he suggests. Carly knows she needs to get back to work and decides to take him up on his offer to restart Monte Carlo. Craig puts a condition on it: If she drinks again, it's all over. She pours the beer out and gives him her word. "Don't let this go to your head, but thank you," she says.
Craig runs into Dusty at Metro. He gets a drink and announces that he is celebrating. Dusty doesn't care. Craig babbles anyway and tells him that Carly and Jack aren't getting back together. Dusty fills him in about Liberty.
At home, Carly flashes back to Jack telling her that he was going to finish with Janet and return to her. Craig shows up at her door. He wants to talk business but she's not interested in money any more, just her heart. He wonders what's really going on. She explains that she is planning on going back into fashion. Her pizza and beer arrive. She tells Craig that the alcohol isn't for her. He worries and then figures out that she has things set up for Jack. "You've gotta be kidding me," he says. She reminds him that this is none of his business. Besides, nothing will happen until Jack finishes with Janet. He's sure she won't let that stand in her way. "What Carly wants, Carly gets," he says. Jack arrives as Craig leaves. From the look on Jack's face, Carly quickly guesses he didn't end things with his wife. She knows that they've been through all of this before but they've both changed. The only thing that is the same is that they love each other. He backs her off and explains that Liberty is sick. If Brad were around, he could look after her, but he's not. Jack reminds her he made a wedding vow. "I've heard those a time or two myself," she sobs. He wishes this wasn't happening but he has no choice. She understands, but she can't settle for anything less than all of him. He leans in to kiss her, but they can't do it. He walks out. She bursts into tears. Later, she tries to throw the beer away. She can't, so she takes her keys, the beer and leaves.
Dusty finds Craig taking a drink at the Metro. He's in a foul mood. "To CarJack!" Craig sarcastically toasts. Dusty doesn't want to be part of the pity party. He walks off and calls to have his plane readied so he can take Liberty and Janet to New York.
Craig corners Jack in the street. He's sure that Jack is going to murder Carly's self-esteem again. He would kill for the kind of love that Carly gives him. "But you kick her teeth in. What is it that you do to her?" Craig asks him. Jack flips out and grabs him by the throat, yelling at him to shut up.
Craig arrives at the Lakeview while Henry and Margo get the party together. He doesn't think they are doing enough and already knows Katie will never fall for this. Margo asks him to convince Simon to convince Katie to stay. Simon and Katie arrive and tell them that they're moving to New York. "There's a broken heart for every light on Broadway," Craig says. Henry brings in the bubbly. Jack and Carly show up before they can toast. Jack reminds Katie that Simon is a fugitive. Craig asks him if he is back with Carly already and then brings up Janet. Margo changes the topic and Henry tries to put a positive spin on things for Katie. They open her gifts. Emma gave her the Snyder family Bible. Margo and Henry got her luggage. Since it is so obvious, they all admit that they are there to talk her out of leaving. Henry starts a slideshow presentation on her life and her many marriages. He talks about how talented and funny she is. "You are the heart and soul of the town," he says. Craig whispers to Simon that he will be breaking the whole town's heart. This is too much for Katie. She knows they are all trying to make her feel guilty for wanting to leave and tries to escape. Margo unfurls a map of all the places that Katie's mom took her when she was little. Katie can't remember half of the places. She's still unimpressed.
Jack takes Craig aside and tells him he can't let them serenade Katie out of town. Carly thinks they shouldn't interfere. Jack says they should hit Simon from both sides. He begins laying into the Australian. Katie rushes in and tries to stop them. She tells them that this whole party is just a big set up. She accuses them of being 'clingy, selfish' people and argues that none of them have any right to control her or exploit Brad's memory to do so. They tell her how much they love her. She says that she doesn't need their protection. Simon argues that his love for Katie is what she needs right now and the sooner he gets her away from them, the better. As the party dies, Janet shows up looking for Jack. He's gone. She wishes Katie the best and runs off.
At home, Margo tells Henry and her brother that they need to let Katie go, whether they like it or not. They toast to Katie and Simon. Katie arrives. Simon stays outside as she goes in and tells them that she can't leave. Henry goes outside to see Simon. "It actually feels good to be noble for once," Simon muses. He's leaving town... it's what's best for Katie. Henry's impressed and hugs him. As he goes inside and embraces Katie, Simon slips away.
Liberty runs into Java to see Parker. She shows him her letter from FIT and asks him to open it for her. He reads it. She was accepted, but it is only provisional; she still needs to send in sketches. As she rambles, he gets a text from his sister. He tells her the family is going to Detroit. Craig stands a foot away. After Parker leaves, Craig asks Liberty why she has a long face. She doesn't know what to submit to the school. He suggests she talk to Carly.
Janet shows up at work. Dusty points out that she is ten hours early. She sits across the room from him and admits that she feels more comfortable there than at home. There are pictures of Jack everywhere... and she wasn't even in any of them. She's come to realize that living with Jack's family isn't a good idea. Liberty and Craig come in. Liberty tells her mom the good news. Janet claps. Liberty explains that she needs some help from Carly. Her mother tells her to go for it. While they talk, Dusty interrogates Craig about why he's involved in this. Craig assures him that his 'damsel and her daughter' are safe from him. Since Janet doesn't want to chase after Jack, Craig offers to drive Liberty.
