Lily follows Lucinda back to work and interrupts a meeting with Brian. Lucinda is cold to her and says her reasons for being at the hospital shouldn't matter. Lily is hurt and leaves. Brian asks what is really going on. She hems and haws but Brian finally gets her to talk to him. She says he doesn't really want to know but he says he does. "I am a cancer survivor, but it's recurred," she says. Brian takes the news in. She says she will probably have to have another mastectomy or she might die. Brian says she has to talk to Lily and then says she can't brush him off, either. "You are a bold, brilliant woman and you're going to get through this," he says. Lucinda is surprised that he isn't running the other direction. He says he'll hold her hand through it all. "Because I like you. A lot," he says and asks her to tell him everything from the beginning.
Lucinda arrives at Worldwide. Brian is working and she tells him about Halloween and missing the grandchildren. He convinces her to come out with him.
Brian takes Lucinda to the ice rink and calls her by her given name; Lucinda is surprised he knows that and he says he is a good researcher. They skate but Lucinda falls down so they go after cocoa. Lucinda asks Brian why he is hanging out with a woman like her. Brian asks why she has to analyze this and not just let it happen. He invites her back to his place for a drink and she agrees. Brian goes to return their skates. Susan calls and says her workup is back and she needs to come to the hospital right away. Lucinda hangs up. She tells Brian she has to take care of something but agrees to meet him later. "I'll be waiting," he says.
At the hospital, Susan tells Lucinda that the breast cancer is back and she needs to speak to her oncologist. "I'll just say goodbye to another breast," Lucinda says. Susan says there are other options but Lucinda is very upset. She says she should have known something bad would happen to offset the good. Susan says she didn't do anything to deserve this. Lucinda calls Brian at his hotel room and says she can't make their date. He asks what is wrong but she won't tell him. "You made me feel very special, but we'd both regret it," she says and hangs up.
Paul goes to Worldwide and tells Lucinda that the office is too boring and he wants out! He tells Lucinda to buy him out! Lucinda wonders why. Paul says he is tired of Worldwide and bored with the work. He gives her an hour to make her decision and leaves. Lucinda sees Brian and tells him, excited about taking over again. Brian tells her not to do it and instead to focus on her life!
Lucinda returns to Worldwide and finds an upset Brian there. He asks about her change of mood and Lucinda says things are righting themselves because Lily is back in her corner. At least a little bit. Brian is happy for her but tells her to give Lily time and space when she suggests calling. He says that Lucinda has to give Lily space or she'll lose her. Lucinda calms down. Brian drops his bombshell - that he is leaving the Foundation! Lucinda is shocked. Brian says he can't work the way Luke wants him to work. Lucinda begs him to stay on because she and Luke both need him!
Brian arrives at the farm as Luke and Noah are talking about distributing foundation information at the college film festival. He objects and Luke immediately jumps to the conclusion that he doesn't want them to do it because it's a gay film festival. Brian says it has nothing to do with the festival patrons but that they should only distribute the foundation to the largest audience possible. Luke accuses him of being homophobic; Brian accuses Luke of trying too hard to make anyone and everyone accept his preferences. Brian leaves. Noah sides with Brian, angering Luke even more. Noah says Luke has more to offer than just being gay - his writing, his family, his grades. Noah says Luke should celebrate his entire life, not just his homosexuality. Luke says he is going to hand out the pamphlets despite Brian's objections.
Lucinda sees Luke at Worldwide and convinces him to talk to Lily on her behalf. He leaves. Brian asks if he can help. Lucinda rants about Dusty coming back; Brian says she is too controlling.
Lily arrives at Worldwide. Brian leaves so the women can talk. Lily rages at Lucinda for having Luke interfere and tells her she is done with Lucinda for good! She tells Lucinda to keep her distance from the kids and stop interfering. Lucinda can't believe it. Lily walks out.
Lily arrives at Worldwide as Lucinda and Brian are finishing some work. She rails at Lucinda for banning Carly from the benefit at Carly's club. Lucinda says Carly deserved it. Lily says she can fight her own battles; Brian plays mediator and Lily and Lucinda both back off. She leaves. "Are we having fun yet?" Lucinda asks.
