At home, Katie prays to Brad to make the chair move again. He tries but has no luck. They both yell in frustration. Jacob begins crying so she begins cradling the child. The doorbell rings. She wonders if it's a sign. It's Janet with veal. She asks Katie if she is expecting anyone. "Not anymore," Katie says. Janet plays with the baby and offers to look after him if she needs a break. They discuss Jack running off and Katie tells her not to give up on him. "He's a good man and they're hard to find," she says. Brad tries talking to Janet but has no luck. The baby cries more and Katie drops a hint to Janet to leave.

Carly and Jack search a database for leads on Simon. Janet calls but Jack tries to fob her off. She tells him that Katie needs him to come back. He offers to be back when he can and hangs up. Carly corners a lead and they rush off to check it out.

She takes him to get a new suit since they are going to a charity benefit. She uses Craig's credit card to buy him the most expensive suit they can find.

Dusty sits down with Janet on the street. He can see she's upset and says they need to talk about her sister. Janet doesn't see what good any of this will do but Dusty thinks Teri needs a talking to.

Dusty and Janet go to the courthouse to see Teri. She admits that she's been a sucker to and wants to offer her support. "He comes after one Ciccone girl, he comes after all of us," she says. Teri thanks Dusty for bringing her sister. The sisters go in.

Teri drops by Janet's with sausage for Liberty. Janet snaps and tells her that her daughter doesn't eat sausage. Teri tells her that she wanted to turn Ralph in but Dusty screwed it up. Janet explains that Dusty was handing Ralph over to the cops when Teri got in the way by trying to defend herself. Teri wishes someone had told her what was going on.

Dusty brings Liberty home and she confesses what just happened at the bar to her mother. Janet doesn't even know what to say. Liberty goes up to her room and Janet tells Dusty that her life is 'broken'. Brad is gone, Liberty's baby is dead and Jack is missing. He gives her a hug and offers to help. She tells him that she's used to taking care of herself and thanks him for helping Liberty. When he leaves, she goes inside and finds Liberty at work on her essay. When she's done, she reads it to her mother. It's all about everything she lost over the summer and how college gives her hope. Janet weeps and hugs her. Janet is proud.

Janet shows up at Carly's looking for Jack. Carly tells her that Jack is in Philadelphia. Janet is shocked, especially that Carly saw him while he hasn't been answering her calls. Parker runs away as the women begin arguing about who can look after Jack better. Carly explains what happened in Philadelphia. "His family is here," Janet says. Carly tells her that she must be leaving her husband the wrong kind of messages if he's not talking to her. To prove it, she calls Jack herself. He actually picks up. Carly puts Janet on the phone. He tells her that he is visiting Mike and he doesn't know what he's doing. Janet begs him to come home but he thinks Liberty is better off without him around. She offers to come to him but he begs her to stay away and hangs up.

Parker goes to the farm house to see Liberty. She's not doing anything; she doesn't see the point. After she goes on a tirade about how awful life is, he reminds her that she's not the only one who lost Brad and tells her that he won't let her throw her life away. Janet returns. Liberty blows up and runs off to her room. Parker reminds Janet that the due dates for college applications are in a few days. He asks her if she is going to go looking for his dad. She says he's not ready to come home. Janet goes upstairs to see her daughter and get a hug.

Janet tracks down Katie at the hospital to help her take the baby home. She says she can do it alone. The nurse brings out the baby and they talk about how much Jacob looks like Brad.

Teri runs into Dusty in the street. She tries to avoid him but he says she should be kissing his feet for saving her life. She flounces off to the diner. Her sister meets her and they talk about Liberty. Janet begins laying into her and blaming everything that has happened on her. Teri points out that she isn't the only one who was fooled by Ralph. Janet claims she was only fooled for half a second. Dusty walks in and says that this wasn't Teri's fault. "I thought you were supposed to be the nice sister," he says. Janet calms down as her sister leaves. She tells him that her first love is dead and Jack has run away. He doesn't think Jack will stay away and advises her not to disown her sister.
