At home Simon shows Carly a copy of “Oakdale Confidential” that he stole from the bookstore. The two read the sections about themselves and laugh. Simon skims forward and tells Carly “this is worse than we thought”
Making Up for Lost Time
Carly and Simon notice "Oakdale Confidential" in a department store window. Simon worries about what's in the pages of Katie's new book, but Carly suggests he relax. The two of them head off to the lingerie store.
Outside the department store window, Simon suggests Mike get back with Katie. Mike refuses, expressing his anger toward Simon. As they talk, Lucinda walks up. She apologizes asking if she interrupted something.
"Oh, no, no, it's nothing," Simon answers.
"Nothing. Nothing. I happen to know... huh... unfortunately, that there's more to that 'nothing' than any of you want to admit, Lucinda reveals.
Before leaving, she says to Simon, "Well, Darling, I hope it doesn't turn around and bite you on the back-side."
Lucy Takes the Stand
At Lakeview, Simon swings the necklace back and forth like a hypnotist in front of Carly repeating the words "it's so beautiful." It's evidence," she retorts. She explains no matter how much she loves excitement, she doesn't want to go to jail. She goes on to say she doesn't believe it's a good idea to "flaunt" the necklace around town. Simon says since the necklace seems to be bothering her so much, he'll just get rid of it. Getting up, he asks the bartender if there's a trash can behind the bar. Carly is shocked! She changes her mind snatching the necklace from him!
Katie meets Henry at Lakeview. He asks where Mike is, she says he's gone. Seeing how upset she is, he suggests they forget the champagne and get lots of scotch instead.
As they walk into the dining area, she witnesses Simon and Carly kissing. "Look at them, their so happy. He's all over her like nothing happened. Mike was right, Simon never loved me!" Katie expresses to Henry. Sensing the tension, Henry suggests they get some burger and fries at Al's. "I'll eat, you can cry," he says. "I'm not gonna waste one more tear on that pathetic excuse for a man," she remarks. "Okay, we'll both eat. But sparingly. I'm a little short on cash. I was two hearts away from a straight flush," Henry jokes.
Katie notices the necklace, she points out how beautiful and expensive it looks. Henry says the rumors must be true, telling her he heard they got a lot of money from the building they renovated. Again, he suggests they go to Al's. Katie changes her mind, suddenly inspired to work on her book. He asks what her theme is. "Revenge," she replies.
Adam Surprises Gwen!
Jack stops by Carly's to let her know he saw she and Simon kissing. She tries to explain, but he says he doesn't want to hear about her love life. He says she won't have to worry about him anymore, because he won't get in the way. He goes on to say the next time Simon lets her down or hurts her, don't come running to him.
As soon as Jack leaves, Carly's phone rings. She smiles seeing it's Simon calling. Simon requests she meet him at Lakeview. She says she'll be right there.
On her way out the door, she runs into Mike. While talking, she confesses she's still with Simon. "After he cheated on you?" he asks. She says she forgave him and suggests he do the same with Katie. Carly continues to lecture Mike about Katie, hoping she can get him to forgive Katie. Mike says she should listen to Jack and take him back. Ignoring Mike's suggestion, she goes back to he and Katie.
Mike's phone rings, interrupting their conversation. It's Henry calling to express Katie has some papers by the fireplace. He says they must be his construction papers, but he doesn't believe she would burn them. Henry says he's not sure. He claims it looks like she's been drinking, suggesting Mike come by and take a look.
Simon waits for Carly at Lakeview. While waiting, Jack arrives and joins Simon. Sitting down, Jack notices a black box on the table. He asks if he can see it. "Sure," Simon says. Jack opens up the box and whistles as he examines the diamond necklace. "Is it real or fake?" Jack inquires. "You tell me," Simon replies. He says it looks like he's trying to buy Carly. He goes on, telling Simon not to lie to her, use her or under estimate her, because there's no piece of jewelry that will get her back. Simon wants to know if she told him what happened between them last night, but Jack says he doesn't want to know. He continues by saying a piece of jewelry won't make up for what he done, and advises him to be good to her instead.
After Jack leaves, Carly arrives and Simon gives her the necklace. "It's beautiful!" she says. While admiring the necklace, she notices the diamond and asks if it's the diamond from the necklace he stole from Vienna. Simon attempts to avoid the question, but she asks him again. Without avoiding the question again, he confirms. "Are you out of your mind?" she exclaims.
Broken Marriage
Meanwhile, at Jack's, Carly sobs, "I chose the wrong guy." She says he was right about Simon. She goes on to say she got in her car, but she didn't know where to go, so she came there, because she says she feels safe there. Jack states if she has a problem with Simon he doesn't want to hear about it. "I should go," Carly says. "No, I didn't mean to snap at you." He admits he walked out because his pride took a beating, but he says he had time to think and wants her back.
Simon walks in and interrupts, asking to speak with Carly. Jack isn't thrilled, he demands Simon leave. "I'm gonna give you a choice. You can leave here right now on your own, or I can help you leave," Jack warns.
Soon after, Jack's called to the station and must leave. He offers to escort Simon out, but Carly assures him she'll be fine.
After Jack leaves, Simon pleads for Carly's forgiveness. He says the look on her face after she found out hurt him. It's over with Katie, "totally over," he adds. He says he wants to be with her. She says he's a liar, confesses she walked away from a decent man she could have counted on for the rest of her life.
At Jack's place, Simon continues pleading with Carly. "We have so much potential. I don't want to lose you," he says to her. If only he had a time machine, he'd go back and change what conspired he says. She admits she still loves him. They kiss.
Outside, coming back from the station, Jack looks through the window and notices Simon and Carly kissing. He turns away, looking heated and hurt.
A Fight Breaks Out!
At Lakeview, Mike punches Simon! Confused, Carly asks Mike what is going on. Simon pulls Carly back and insists they leave. She says she's not leaving until she finds out what's going on! "He slept with my wife last night," Mike says to Carly. Carly turns to Simon, "Is that true?" Simon confirms, while Katie says they didn't mean for it to happen. Carly grows angrier. "You're disgusting!" Carly says to Katie. She goes on to say she hopes she's happy now. "Simon's all yours!" Carly finishes.
Later, Carly continues confronting Katie about sleeping with Simon. Simon says to Carly, "That's enough!" Carly says, "No it's not!" Before continuing, she cautions that she hasn't even gotten started on him yet.
Simon and Katie continue defending themselves, saying it was all a mistake. Mike, tired of hearing it, walks off; Katie follows behind him. Mike says to Katie he's done talking, he has said everything he has to say. Katie continues pleading for Mike's forgiveness, saying she doesn't want Simon. Before walking away, Mike says to Katie, "Grow up!"
Simon and Carly argue, Simon acknowledges he should have told her. "D** right you should have told me!" Simon harks back they're not married. "See you around!" Carly says to Simon.
Later on, Katie and Simon run into each other. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Katie asks Simon. He asks her why she told Mike, we could have worked it out he says to her. "Man, why do I just keep messing up my life?" Shaking her head and weeping, Katie apologizes saying she didn't think Mike would look at her files. Simon shouts if she was trying to get Carly to leave, then "congratulations, it worked!"
