Leaving Is The Hardest Part...

Friday, April 04 2008

At the cottage, Will returns with sandwiches and munchies. Gwen is upset because Carly's kids can't make the party. She wonders if leaving so soon is a mistake. Will says there will never be a perfect time to leave. Outside, Barbara nearly falls at the cottage door. Paul catches her and asks if everything is okay. She says she is just tired and they go inside. Will thanks Paul for coming; Barbara tells Gwen how much she loves her. She tells Hallie goodbye, too, and then hugs Will, telling him how proud Hal would be. Paul teases that he expects hugs like this now that he is the "good son". They all laugh. Barbara hugs Gwen and then Will one more time. She tells them to have fun with their friends and leaves. Jack, Parker and Carly arrive. Carly takes Gwen to get a few pictures; Gwen asks about Jack. Carly says she is working on winning his heart again. Jack tells Will that if they ever need anything they only have to call. Paul takes Parker aside, saying he would like to be a stand-in big brother if Parker needs one. When Carly and Gwen return, Will takes a family picture with Jack and Carly.

Alison finds Chris at the hospital and tries to bully him into going to Will and Gwen's with her. He says he has too much work but finally gives in. They arrive at the cottage as Aaron does. Will isn't thrilled but Chris steps up and apologizes for his part in the adoption hearings. All is forgiven. Aaron takes Alison aside and asks what is going on with Chris; Allie says they are just friends. Aaron is jealous. Chris tells Alison that he doesn't want to push his luck with Will so he is leaving. He invites her to come along with him and she accepts. Aaron watches them, very unhappy. Casey, Luke, Noah and Ameera arrive. Luke explains that Ameera is Noah's wife-in-name-only; Luke jokes that Casey is now his "boyfriend". Casey objects to that description. Paul takes Will aside and says he wants to be a better brother. They hug. Just then Sofie arrives. She tearily says her goodbyes to Hallie. When Aaron tries to make her stay, though, Sofie says she wants to be alone and hurries out. Paul follows. On the porch she tells him about Barbara's surgery. They leave together. Will takes Gwen into the bedroom and she says she finally realizes why they need to move - because Sofie can't move on with them back in town. Noah and Luke are lamenting their problems with the INS. Gwen has a great idea - Noah and Ameera should move into the cottage, that way they'll have more freedom because Luke and his "boyfriend" could visit any time. "Uuh, I'm not in this for a long-term relationship," Casey jokes. Luke doesn't like the idea either, but Noah and Ameera convince them it is a great plan. Will takes a picture of the "happy couples". When everyone is gone, Will and Gwen toast to their new life. He kisses her.

We Belong Together...

Will returns to the cottage and Gwen tells him about Barbara's suggestion and Sofie's offer! Will is stunned and wonders what Sofie is really after. Gwen says as much as she wants to help Babs, this could be their chance to put themselves - and Hallie - first. Will tells her to start packing.

Barbara arrives at Fairwinds and asks Paul to help her convince Will and Gwen to move on - literally - with their lives. Paul wonders what Barbara is really up to and she says she owes it to Will to let him have a life free of Oakdale and Sofie. He reluctantly agrees to stand by her and they leave for the cottage. They barge straight in, telling Will and Gwen that they can handle things in Oakdale. They talk over one another for several minutes until Will interrupts and says they just decided to leave for a while. Paul and Will talk quietly for a while. Paul apologizes for taking Sofie's side but explains that he was just trying to be fair to all sides. Will forgives him. Barbara asks for their plans and convinces them to stay for a farewell party. She leaves.

Lucinda arrives at the cottage and Gwen tells her about moving out of town. Lucinda supports their decision and wishes them well. Gwen and Will settle in for the night with Hallie by telling her a bedtime story about the good fairy who brought Hallie to them.

At Gwen and Will's cottage, Barbara admits to Will and Gwen that she has oral cancer. Will doesn't understand how she can have oral cancer because she doesn't drink or smoke. Barbara tells them about HPV and how certain strains can cause oral cancer, and is receiving radiation treatments. Will is upset she has been going to treatments alone. Barbara tells them she is doing everything she can to be okay. Gwen wishes she had told them, as Will believes he should have known something was wrong. Barbara says she just wanted to protect him, as Will gets teary and doesn't want anything to happen to Barbara. Barbara insists she will be fine and wants them to go ahead with their plan to move out of town, but Will and Gwen insist her health is more important. Barbara gets upset and wants them to take care of their baby. Will gets Barbara to admit that Paul does not know. Will insists she must tell him.

Alone at the cottage, Will tells Gwen he does not think they can leave. He believes when the chips are down that Barbara and Paul always come through and are still family. Gwen thinks it is important to teach Hallie those values. She thinks they have to hope for the best, but Will wonders how much more Barbara can take. Gwen says Barbara won't give up, and a teary Will says she can't because after Hal and Jen, he can't lose his mom, too, and feels there is always a black cloud hanging over his family. Gwen thinks spending time with Hallie will be the best medicine and both agree to stay in Oakdale a little longer. At the farm, as Paul is leaving, Barbara arrives and wants to talk to Paul in private, so he steps out on the patio with her. She tells him she is very sick. Paul understands she needed her privacy and wants to help however he can. Barbara says she dreaded telling him and Will but is glad she did. Paul says they are all survivors and the two hug. Barbara thanks Paul for making this easier and he insists they will get through this together. As she leaves, Meg walks out and says she heard and is sorry. Paul smiles that she is going to be fine. Meg says she is there for both of them. They almost kiss as he leaves.

We Meet Again!

Tuesday, March 25 2008

Sofie can't believe that Will and Gwen are leaving town but gives them her blessing. Just then Barbara arrives. She is relieved that Hallie is back with Will and Gwen but very upset when they say they are moving. "What about me?" she asks. Gwen and Will assure Babs that they won't go far away and that they'll be home for holidays. Barbara is still upset but a little bit relieved. Sofie leaves and whispers to Babs that she needs to tell them about the cancer. Gwen thanks Barbara, who asks if she can take care of Hallie when the baby begins to cry. They watch as she holds the baby and talks to her. Barbara leaves. Will checks out another college not far from Oakdale and finds out they can transfer there without losing any credits. He finds some information about housing, too, and they discuss where they might live. Neither can believe how quickly things are falling into place for them.

Barbara returns to the cottage after talking to Sofie. "There is something I have to tell you," she says to Will and Gwen.

Everybody Needs A Friend...

Monday, March 24 2008

At the hospital, Gwen and Will ask a nurse to see Hallie. The nurse is confused because the baby is in the computer as "Hallie Duran". Just then Sofie walks in and says they need to talk. In another room, Sofie thanks Gwen for giving blood to Hallie. Emotionally, she says she can't give Hallie a good life and asks them to be Hallie's parents! Gwen and Will question her but Sofie stands firm, telling them that she can't be a good mom. They finally tell her that they do want Hallie back. The nurse brings Hallie in. Gwen asks Sofie to hold her one last time. Sofie tells Hallie that she is going to have a great life with great parents. "I will love you as long as I live," she says before handing the baby back to Gwen. They offer to let Sofie visit but she shakes her head and hurries away. They return home. Will is still worried and tells Gwen that they have to leave Oakdale or they will always be looking over their shoulders because of Sofie! Gwen doesn't want to leave but Will is certain it is the only way. Reluctantly, Gwen agrees to go with him. He says they don’t have to go far but they need a fresh start. Gwen says before they go they have to get everything straightened out with Hallie and that includes telling Sofie that they are going to move. Will doesn't like that at all but goes along with Gwen.
