Quote levander: Well I don't want to get bashed like the girl raised in the south(grits), so I'll just say I don't like the story, I don't like luke and noah. I don't like what they stand for and I've had these feelings for as long as I can remember so I guess I was born with them. Since you don't pick your sexual orientation I guess the same can be said for your feelings of right and wrong. I didn't just decide one day "hey I don't like homosexuality", it's the way I've always felt. I really think you have you're opening line backwards. Who bashed the girl from the south?? A REAL person started a thread about their REAL life experience....She called it a crock, said it was false propaganda, stated that she had NO compassion, or tolerence for what this poster has lived. Who bashed who? This is not even about a s/l anymore. This about people saying some very hurtful and hateful things. This is more a respect and tolerence issue, what you give you get...you reap what you sow... This particular poster had no harsh words for anyone, but the southern woman and yourselves are the ones that"went there". IMO |

Acceptance is wonderful. In terms of sexual orientation, studies have proved that it is not a choice. I won't go into a long discussion on that, that has been done over and over. However, when it comes to feelings and beliefs, those are taught. That is why parents take children to church, to teach them the beliefs in god that the parents want the child to have. That is why children are punished or rewarded based upon their behaviors by their parents. Do you think someone just wakes up one day and says "I am going to be a white supremist? No, that hate is taught. There are occasions where nurture is not the cause of hatred and social deviency. That is with sociopaths. That is something you are born with. Those are people like Dahmer and Bundy, Jim Jones and his koolaid, I think you get the picture. Hate is learned. It is taught. Feelings and beliefs are totally different than sexual orientation. |

Children accept everyone as people like them. You have to be taught to hate people of a different sexual orientation or a different race. So sad. |

Quote G R I T S: Quote s0303: i've been reading on the boards all kinds of things regarding the luke/noah storyline, and about how God didn't create a man to be with a man, etc...and had to respond, unfortunately. i am a gay man. one of my first memories is finding a boy attractive in pre-kindergarten...yes, this is true. i didn't even know what being gay meant or even heard the word before, i just knew i thought boys were cute. it was just an instinct. how many people on this board sat down one day and made a conscious decision who they were attracted to, whether they were going to live a gay lifestyle or a straight one? my guess is no one. neither did i. it was just how i was, or how i was born (i'm sure a lot of people don't believe that) i don't know how or why it was me, i wish it hadn't been me. it's not easy to be a minority, someone who got picked on and spit at and beat up in school for who you were, it's just what happened. i didn't choose this. so, next time you feel the need to say that this story is disgusting, or that you think they shouldn't have these characters on the show, maybe you will remember there are real people who are gay and reading your posts and maybe think twice for once. and then go ahead and post if you still feel the need, for that will show how little compassion and lack of understanding you have...thank you for reading this. What a crock, I have no compassion for this subject and no tolerance for people who promote such false propaganda. I don't like these characters and I wish they were off the show for ever. Grits..made from corn , I am from the south , didn't your mom teach you that , if you can't say anything nice about someone , to not say anything at all? Well now that I'm older I say it like this , if you can't say anything nice about someone , then just shut the Hell up. Post like yours only serve to hurt people. I believe people full of hate against people that they don't even know is against the rights of all man kind. Who gave you the right to say unkind things and judge someone ? All the gay people in my world respect me as I do them. They are hard working and trying to make ends meet just like you and I. They go to church , pay taxes AND they have feelings that can be hurt by hateful words. |

hi everyone! just wanted to say thank you to all of the posters who wrote such positive things about the post i wrote. i wasn't expecting it to be so well received...lol. i hope it at least helped a few people to see a little into a gay persons life and be a bit more tolerable...or even accepting. as for the negative comments, i don't really have anything to say, i know i will not be able to change your views and i'm not going to even try. i will say this, though. for the people who believe being gay is a sin or against God, i do know it is in the Bible. i have no explanation for that...or i do, but am not going to comment. but the Bible also says he who is without sin cast the first stone...and judge not, lest you be judged...thanks again for the positive comments...sam |

I would never cast stones at anyone first or last. I admire you for you post. Would you believe that I typed up those very same words about casting the first stone if you are with out sin? When I started to post it , it was lost. So , I think it was meant to be said after all. |

But I believe that they were born with this connection to the same sex. These people are the children of God! So maybe God is watching us to see how "we" treat them. Remember what God said, "Love one another." |

Speaking the way you spoke is definately the first step to getting people to open up and be more understanding. Hateful feelings are taught. My daughter is four, she see's my friend all the time, with almost no hair in mens clothes. She knows she's a girl and she doesn't believe for one second that anything is wrong with her. She knows she's different and as long as she see's me okay with it then she is. How can you HATE someone because they LOVE something different then you do? Gay citizens are not criminals they don't harm anyone else so what's to hate? Being uncomfortable, confused, or even afraid is understandable. Many fear the unknown but why do you hate? Because you are taught to hate what you don't understand, and you are taught to ridicule and hate anyone that's different. Grits, don't be afraid, the gay boogeyman isn't going to come get you in the middle of the night and give you gay. Don't be angry or hateful because the gay thugs aren't coming around to rob you blind either. There are gays and there are straight people. You live, they live. Period, nothing for you to worry about |

I've seen people that I would be scared to meet in the dark , but I don't hate them just because they are covered in tatoos , have colored hair or ride a Harley. Some of those kind of people have the biggest hearts. People are like books , they all have a different story on the inside. Don't judge a book by its' cover. |

As long as your happy with who you are and who you fall in love with that's all that matters.. |

Quote Natalie: As long as your happy with who you are and who you fall in love with that's all that matters.. This is my believe.. That's true , don't let anyone make you feel bad about who you love , if that person loves you back , that's the important thing. |
keytonblows![]() |
Like I said before it's okay to be happy for gays but it's not okay to dislike them or be against what they stand for. There is such a huge double standard going on here it is almost impossible to put into words how people who voice any opposition to this gay storyline are treated. Your okay with what we say as long as it doesn't go against what you want. As soon as someone voices any opposition to you position on this gay story they are ridiculed from that point on. I feel bad for people like GRITS and Levander who try to inject a different point of view into the subject. They are automaticly deemed haters or gay bashers and all they are doing is voicing their opinion like you are yours. And for anyone who doesn't already know GRITS stands for Girls Raised In The South, I guess it's a southern thang. |

I was taught not to hate , what do you gain by putting people down ? Does it make you feel better by hurting people? |
