I think what Willow and Val were trying to say (correct me if I am wrong) is that all of this has already been on the board over and over again. But, we have some new posters, and some old posters that want to share their opinion. No big deal. Exactly, it should be no big deal for those that want to share their opinion!! |

And I'm not saying people can't express their opinions, it's just that this same thread appears on the board practically every time Luke and Noah appear in an episode. I personally don't like the underage sex thing going on wit Parker and Libs, but I don't feel compelled to come on here and complain about it everytime they appear. But as Plot said, there are new users a lot of the time. It's just irritating seeing this over and over again, and this has been said by both people who don't like Nuke and people who do. I fully appreciate everyone's opinions, and I think it's interesting to view things from other people's perspectives. Sorry if I said something when I shouldn't have. This is actually my very first time voicing my opinion on the subject for this very reason. I have stayed away all the other times. This thread was opened and I decided it was the right time to say my piece which I did. |

These posts and comments are EXHAUSTING! So what are the writers supposed to write about? Only the topics that deal with heterosexual couples? Please! If this is going to get me banned then so be it! Luke and Noah are just fine! So what if they show affection? And? There's really no need to take yr bad day out on other posters. They were writing on other topics just fine b4 Nuke came on the show and I am sure they could find even more to write about. If I don't like them, I don't like them!! |

I think the reason this sparks so much controversy, is in the way the posters that oppose the nuke s/l say their piece. I (and by that I mean I!) feel that SOMETIMES it comes across as very hurtful and hateful. If we can't bash actors, why, then can we bash a s/l? They are doing a job, a job that is suppose to portray a very large group of people that live in this country. It is suppose to bring light to a subeject, and I understand that some subject matters make some very uncomfortable, and although I get that, I also "get" that we, the viewers are subjected to many uncomfortable s/l's. And eventually we become less uncomfortable, which means the writers actors and producers are doing their job. (and no I am not talking about murder becoming more comfortable...but really how many of you were outraged that paul would bury a dead body in his garden, and then have his wedding in said rose garden??)But I am talking about rape, incest, cancer, and things of that nature....all a part of life and soceity, that on some level (most) we all have to face in one way or another. I am not trying to change the minds of those opposed, I am only simply suggesting that we be kinder and gentler to those here on the board, and everywhere that may be gay and take it personally or find it offensive that some of us are still, in 2008, openly stating a lifestyle as offensive. Of course we are ALL entitled to our own opinions, but does that mean that we have to be insensitive to others? again this is M/O and I expect you will give me yours, I also hope that I have practiced what I am preaching and been sensitive to everyone, if I haven't, I am sure you will let me know.

One thing we know it's not to late for Noah get back on the right path, because he hasn't done to much to where he can't turn his life around. If things keep going on the path they are it will be to late. |

I, personally, don't get offended when people automatically assume that I am a lesser person that they are because of this belief. General Hospital did an excellent s/l on it yrs ago. I am also aware they don't have a death sentence. God is completely against this lifestyle if u read the Bible. Remember Sodom/Gomorra (sp?)? And as I already stated God meant for man/woman to be together, hence Adam/Eve when he created the world. He didn't mean man/man, woman/woman!! That is why he made our bodies the way he did, b/c men and women fit together naturally. Well, since god did not create Adam and Eve, you have no point there. The fable of Sodom and Gomorrah has many interpretations. Most jewish texts stress it's arrogance and cruelty, especially towards the poor. And in Ezekiel, it is said that "She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy." (Sort of like republicans) And everyone forgets how the story ends. Lot goes up into the mountains, his daughters get him drunk and have sex with him. So the bible promotes incest? Learn something before you post. And the bible also states that disobedient children should be put to death. Now, THAT is a rule I'd like to see in Oakdale! |

I don't really think he is taking out his bad mood on the board. I think he has had it with being offended since he is gay. It helps to remember that when you say things like "god doesn't approve" or "gays have aids" that these comments are directed at real people. Real people have feelings. Would anyone go up to a person that they didn't know but thought was gay and tell them that they were going to hell because they were gay and god hated them? No, probably not. So you probably shouldn't do it here. And, like I said earlier, the God comment doesn't work with everyone. Even gay people go to church. There are many ways to interpret the bible. Plus, our country gives us the choice to not have a religious affiliation. We are free to believe in evolution if we wish. That does not make any one camp better than the other. If someone doesn't believe in god, then they shouldn't be held by the rules anyone's god imposes. |

What kind of lifestyle do you live? Further, if god is so perfect, why did he create serial killers, pedophiles, rapists? Their bodies go together too when rapists rape women. It is illogical to bring religion into the debate because not everyone believes the way you do about it. Even in different religions there are differences. Catholics believe in confession, Babtists don't. Who is right? Who gets to go to heaven? Pentacostals believe in speaking in tounges, Nazarene's don't. Who gets to go to heaven? Jehovah Witness believe that you shun family if they drop out of the church, Scientoligists believe in aliens. Who gets to go to heaven? Not to mention the agnostics and the athiests. Granted, I just picked one example from the religions I chose, but the point remains the same. And besides, doesn't the bible teach not to judge other people? Doesn't the bible tell us to love our fellow man? Didn't god write down his 10 commandments? Is homosexuality in there? |

No real person should be insulted. Storylines can be discussed. the NUKE storyline is a bit different because it challenges people. I don't think anyone would like it if NUKE haters were called homophobes, bigots, hipocryts, hate mongers and the like, just like the NUKE supporters don't like to be told god is against them, they are going to hell, they are wrong, they are disgusting and so on. There is a way to discuss this topic without getting personal. It is the same was as we discuss any other topic....we talk about the characters. If I say I hate Meg, that doesn't offend anyone because she is a character. The things I hate about her are probably things that others like about her. But again it is a character, not personal traits from other real people. |

What we have to remember is that Luke and Noah are fictional characters, that are representative of relationships that go on in the real world. Although you may not agree with those kind of relationships, I don't see why they can't be tolerated the same way people tolerate fictional violence, murder, rape, adultery. Like Plot, I also don't like Meg, but as Meow said I'm not able to fast-forward when I'm watching the show on my TV, but I tough it out, watch the s/l's and sometimes I enjoy what's going on with her. If everyone would just be more open-minded things would be much easier. As Plot said, it is illogical and offensive to bring religion into the discussion, because not everyone shares the same faith. As someone with experience in debate, I personally wouldn't reference the Bible because many of it's assertions have been proven wrong by science, and not only that but the Bible has been nipped and tucked more than Joan Rivers. There are so many different translations/interpretations/versions that it's difficult to decide which is the original "word of God". Which version is right? How can we be sure which passages and teachings are literal or figurative/metaphoric? There is too much confusion and uncertainty with the Bible for it to be used as a reliable source of debate. Anywho, I agree with Raving, that the only reason discussions about Luke and Noah get so personal, is because a lot of opposers can be kind of insensitive to any gay/ supportive of gay readers in stating why they don't like Luke and Noah. It is not very considerate to gays to say it's disgusting to watch Luke and Noah, or that their love is sinful, because you could offend a lot of people out there. Similarly, a lot of gays/gay supporters tend to label any opposers as homophobes, bigots, or prejudists because they are offended. If everyone could just be a little more tolerant and considerate of each other, these discussions wouldn't go awry. |
