Quote Briar_Rose: I don't see how Luke and Noah aren't REAL characters? What makes them not real the fact that they aren't having sex? IMO I'm happy to see one couple that isn't all about humping every chance they get . There's more to love then sex.

Noah and Luke are among the most fleshed out, consistent characters one the whole show. They are a couple ATWT's is doing their best and the only problem I see is that they're not humping. How long was it for Casey and Maddie???

I was making the point that you can't hurt Luke and Noah's feelings as they are not real people. We have REAL people posting on this board, not characters (well, some of us are characters lol) but that was my distinction.

I see, but my post came from a post from someone else.

And as for soapstars post, that's a major point for me. What about these children that arise from such unions? Where do we fit, that's something I consider all the time.

I'm sure you know what you are talking about Briar! my neice (white) married an Afro American man. Great, great marriage! They have 3 beautiful children. I worry about that too. Even though they live in DC where this is not uncommon, I know there are uncaring people who will look at these children as "different". Until we realize that we are ALL God's children they will face hurdles.

Quote Briar_Rose: Some people will laugh at that but I appreciate it! I do try though, most of the time, to be as thoughtful as I can be.

It's all good Plot. I thought of quoting the post but I don't think the poster would like that, I get the impression he doesn't like me very much.

Well , I sure as hell love you.

I grew up very alone in this situation. My father's much older then my mother, so all of my black relatives were pretty much dead. We lived in a white neighborhood and I didn't know anyone from any other backrounds, so I really had no one to relate to other then my sister. Most of my family were ashamed of me behind my back.

Another thing that was very hurtful for me growing up is that I don't resemble my mother or my family AT ALL. Whenever we went out anywhere people were constantly staring at me and my sister like we were aliens and people always thought that we were adopted or my mom was a babysitter.

Does that mean that you should never have a child with anyone outside of your race, no. But do I think it's easier on a child and the couple, yes.

How that must have hurt you. I'm sorry people are like that, especially family.
I'm sure the uncomfortable or bad times have made you a special mommy to your own child though. She is a lucky little girl to have someone who seems so understanding.

A child DOES NOT pick their parents. I have an ex -daughter inlaw who was half black , so that makes three of my grandsons part black . I don't love them any less than my other grandkids .
I don't see how anyone can judge a person by the color of their skins. It's whats on the inside that counts .

I know alot of biracial (black/white) adults who have these same experiences. I find it abhorrent that we are still treating our fellow human beings like that/this. Racism isn't going to go away unless we teach our children that it is irrelevant, and they teach theirs and so on and so on.

That is why I try to be sensitive to all posts that I edit, not just editing in view of my opinion (gee, I would be the edit queen lol).

Personally (and once again I'm probably in the minority here), I think it is refreshing that they are NOT humping. And it has nothing to do with them being gay. I realize sex is a staple of soaps. But "humping" around is what dogs do and it would be nice if human beings would treat each other with more respect and sex as not as much an act of gratification (which of course it is), but more as a way of giving oneself to the other instead of "taking" the other like a possession. Call it old-fashioned (and that's more than okay with me), but it makes it so much more special.
