The theory is if Janet hadn't took Liberty to the doctor and prepared her for the possibilities of the pitfalls of sex then she wouldn't have had sex until she was an adult?

Okay, just wanted to make sure I was in the same fantasy world as everybody else.

By janet going to the doctor and getting liberty that stuff she opened up the door for liberty to think it was ok because if she wouldn't of had that she wouldn't of felt as safe and free about doing it

5^ ITA...ROTFL...when I saw the coming attractions with Brad hiring a body guard to keep Liberty sex free...
It is like he just bought her a living chastity belt...omg, Brad is totally losing it he is so protective and so not used to being the Dad of a girl...If he had a teenage boy he may have handled this whole thing differently IMO...
As for Janet taking Liberty for the birth Control, it wasn't a bad idea, but I think Brad should have been in on that decision and I also think that not one of the adults mentioned that before they had sex, it should be when you Love the person and these two kids are only playing with sex because they have the GO AHEAD in their minds because of the condoms...Liberty hadn't even taken one BC Pill when she did this nor did she read any of the literature that was provided...Brad tried to do it the intelligent way, he went to the DR. and asked for literature on the DO's AND the DON'Ts of having sex...especially when you don't know what you are doing...they may not have even used the condom correctly...they both looked totally confused and puzzled by what they were doing...and to do it again...Brad is not wrong to worry and to try to protect Liberty, he is just not going about it in the right manner...he should go see Nancy...the Oakdale Wise Woman...lol.
I also agree with you that he should in this case listen to Katie and I also think that Janet is wrong for not talking to Brad about this, maybe she could have talked some sense into him along with Katie before he hired a personal body guard... Henry is such an idiot...but proposing is not the answer to their issues...he wants to be successful and she wants to be average...they need to come to a middle ground. I have seen her on two book covers...she looks great. I loved that Emma told Jack off...ITA that he should have asked her permission and that Janet has to stop going in ppls homes and rearranging their kitchens to her tastes. I would kick where the sun don't shine if she did that in my home. And as much as everyone wants to blame Carly for what Liberty and Parker are doing...Jack and Janet have some 'splaining to do also because their shacking up is also part of what is bringing this on...though Liberty is used to it with Janet...Parker now feels that none of the parental guides in his life have any morals. Brad is right on that issue I believe, though he IS GOING BANANAS...his eyes look wild and he is so funny right now...LOL.

Quote Buffyfan428: I thought that was a little too risque. They really didn't need to go there. Brad could have found out about Parker and Liberty a thousand other ways without them going there.

Although, I think it's absolutely hilarious that Brad gets Liberty a bodyguard!!! I laughed my head off when I saw that.

I totally called Emma flipping out about her kitchen and cabinets, but I'm glad Jack stood up for Janet and showed he cares for her.

Poor Vienna. Henry's an idiot.

And Brad needs to listen to Katie more often. She knows what she's talking about.

Quote edgeofnight19561984: Permit me to be one (of the few) actually applauding Brad and his actions in trying to protect his daughter.
I was exposed to a situation, just a few weeks ago. I was hospitalized, and my hospital roommate was a college age kid who had cracked up his car, drunk, while ALSO on 'anti-seizure' medication at the same time. On the night after he was brought into my room, I was asleep, almost 11 o'clock at night. I was awakened by voices by people who were, laughingly, bragging about how they had gotten up to the hospital floor and, ultimately, the room without alerting security. Well, when I opened my eyes, I, literally, was seeing a recreation of John Belushi's 'Animal House.' An old fashioned 'frat party,' drinking, cavorting around, sex-capades, you name it. Well, it did not take me long to ring my buzzer for the nurse, and have her see what was going on...needless to say, the medical staff, security etc...were all red-faced and embarrassed about the whole situation. As sick as I was, I made it my business to put a stop to it. Not only that, but I also lodged an official complaint with 'Patient Relations,' and alerted my county and state legislators about the matter.
'Sonny Boy's' mother was a piece of work. In her eyes, her son could do no wrong, while she gave me cold, icey stares. Someone came into the room and showed her a product, available on the internet, where you can speed to 80, 90, 100mph and NOT get detected by police radar. The mother asked her friend how much it was, and when she was told '$100,' she said, 'We'll buy it.' That woman, as a mother is an enabler, pure and simple. Her actions will, ultimately see her son his crash his car again, and maybe the next time he won't be so lucky.
There are those who think that Brad is going overboard, but I applaud his moves. Janet waving all those birth control methods, condoms, pills, brochures etc...was, in my opinion, Janet telling Liberty to go ahead and do it. An open invitation, pure and simple.
There, I've said my piece. I know I am in the minority, but, I felt I had to say it.

Brad definitely has a right to be upset, but I think he is going to far with the bodyguard.

The Edge of Night, wow I remember that soap from way back, I was really young, my mom use to watch it.

I think Brad has great intentions for his daughter, but he is not going about it right how he should go about I dont know. What I do know is if a girl is going to have sex for any reason, she will. And as crumby as it is, its up to the lady to protect herself against prenancy and also disease.

It can be interpreted as a go ahead when you give your kid condoms and bc pills, but I would rather see them do it sooner being protected thinking its ok if they do it as long as they have condoms. Rather than thinking ok lets do it we dont have condoms but we probably wont get pregnant anyway.

I feel Janet did best in seeing things for what they are, the kids are spending lots of time togther and so on. So she tried to teach her daughter what she needed to know.

I'd rather kids not do it at all. When they are not mature enough, it becomes an act not an emotion to experience. As for girls having sex if they want to, how many would if they fully understood the outcome of unprotected sex? Let me ask you this question? Would you be holding hands with a guy if you knew he didn't wash his hands after going to the bathroom? Get my point?

This is a very personal decision for each parent. No one can give a blanket answer for all children. Some will rush headlong into sex, some will wait until the absolutely right man comes along. As much as I love my oldest grandson, I wish that I had used my motherly instincts about this subject. My daughter is smart and always had A honor roll grades, she was awarded scholarships for college. I suspected there had started to be sex but closed my eyes. She of course, got pregnant. Changed her life. She was not having sex just to have sex. She was IN LOVE!!

I wish I had put her on the pill and prepared her. It wouldn't have made her have sex....it would have protected her. And, for the record, NO I would not have told her father.

I wont comment on whether I think Janet did the right thing or not, but I will say I thought the whole condom thing was a bit silly, and farfetched. Parker and Liberty were fully clothed, and did not look even close to the point of needing a condom. Not that I needed it to be too much more realistic, but maybe a shirt off or something.

I understand what you mean, but my mom didn't give me birth control when I was younger.Let me say this that didn't stop me from having it lucky for me until I wanted kids I had a hard time having children.Because when your young you think it won't be you that get prego or a STD.So to me you have rules control what you can but don't think you can stop it for long so protect them if you can and thats what Janet did because her and Brad sure needed birth control.

Hell no !!!!, you never know who's pants or panties they have been in , plus you never know where their lips have been either. Young people and some older ones do all kinds of oral things. Maybe the word oral is a little strong for some people. But it happened in the White House.

I agree it is a personal dicision for each parent. Every kid is different, in Liberty's case I believe the right dicision was made. The case was different for all of us and will be different with our kids.

Its a difficult subject to agree on because us humans are all individuals as you said there is no blanket answer for all children.

Excuse me for being redundant.

I just love how TPTB decide to run this teenage-premarital sex s/l during the summer. When all the teenagers are out of school, sitting at home watching TV! It bugs me how they run these type of stories during school breaks. If my kids were teenagers, they would not be watching this show (which I guess it's not for kids anyway). But, in the middle of the day, kids having sex right under their parent's noses! Liberty and Parker need some annoying brothers and sisters at home to tattle on them. It makes me hope (a little) that this s/l ends badly for the two of them. just to show kids who are watching that sex isn't fun and games if you're not old enough/responsible enough to handle the outcomes.

That's just it! Kids don't realize unless you fully explain things to them. People are under the assumption that a penicillin shot takes care of any STD they might pick up. They don't realize that by the time they get the shot, the STD has done some significant damage internally, and anti-biotics do not kill viruses! Viruses become active later in life and continue to do damage, usually to the brain.
