Once again As The World Turns fails to fully capitalize on using family to its greatest extent: |

I think Cricket called while the party was going on. You're right, it was odd that Katie wasn't there. |

Cricket did call during the party. And Katie and Brad should have been there. It was nice seeing the photos. I like flashbacks and stuff like that! |

Quote Plot-Twister: Cricket did call during the party. And Katie and Brad should have been there. It was nice seeing the photos. I like flashbacks and stuff like that! Holden and Jack both questioned Meg as to why no one was invited to the wedding. They probably would not have come. I am more disappointed in the lack of suspense of the storylines. Allie and Chris- the lawsuit, could have been paced out a bit more to really show what a sexual harrassment case is like. Paul and Meg and the whole hitchcoocky feel storyline could have been played out more. That is what I am wanting. Great points all. We did have a thunderstorm knock the show off the air for a few minutes so I missed Cricket's call. And you are especially on the mark regarding the pacing of the show. By the time I think they've given me something to sink my teeth into, it's over. Part of the greatness in serials is "always leave the audience wanting more". Create suspense. I'm guilty of always praising the late Doug Marland's writing during from 85-93, but man those were some classic years. He wrote great Hitchc--k-type stories like: a) The stalking of Kim by Doug Cummings b) The gaslighting of Lisa by Shannon's fiancee c) Frannie mixed up with Darryl Crawford and his invalid wife. d) The murder of Lucinda's sister. e) Who was the hooded figure walking around Duncan's castle (thought it to be Duncan's sister and it turned out to be James Stenbeck) f) The young girl (forget her name) who had a Fatal Attraction thing for Bob. g) Who was James Stenbeck's mole. They had us suspecting Hal and it turned out to be a fellow police officer. and of course my personal favorite: h) the Frannie look-a-like who turned out to be her half-sister Sabrina (resuscitating a story that had thought to be over for more than 10 years). The show today moves at warp speed. We had weeks of buildup to the sexual harassment thing only to have it end on a dime. Characters like Colonel Mayer and Dr Decker become cardboard characters, lacking in nuance and shades of gray. Gone are the days of great courtroom dramas and "big reveals", holiday get togethers, and picnics. It's a shame. |

Quote lsmith1967: who is cricket? Cricket Montgomery is Craig and Margo's younger sister. She has not been seen on As The World Turns for well over 20 years. |

Quote hurrikun: Once again As The World Turns fails to fully capitalize on using family to its greatest extent: Tom and Margo's anniversary: While it was great (and unexpected) to hear Lyla (Margo's mother), John (Margo's dad), Andy (Margo's brother) Sabrina and Frannie (Tom's sisters), mentioned..........why the heck wasn't Katie at her own sister's anniversary party? Come on, guys. Katie should have been there. Yes, you never mentioned Margo's sister Cricket or brother Duke, but they haven't been seen in quite a while. Not having Katie there was just dumb. While I realize that Meg and Paul's wedding was spur-of-the-moment, did anybody bother to mention why Emma, Holden, Lily, Jack, Brad, Aaron, and Luke (not to mention all of Jack and Holden's kids) were not at the wedding? Honestly, sometimes it feels as though I'm watching 5 different soaps in one hour of As The World Turns because there is a REAL need for more integration of the characters with each other. I also thot Margo/Tom's anniversary party was a big surprise. It was nice to hear all those names mentioned. I too wondered where Katie was. Here's a sibling who's actually still on the show and she doesn't come, WTF?? No work excuses or anything were made for it either. As far as Meg/Paul's wedding apparently they didn't want anybody else there. Probably b/c when the preacher says "speak now or forever hold yr peace," they probably knew half the ppl there would speak up, lol. |

I think Meg's marriage to Paul would have been met with disdain from her entire family. I wouldn't have bothered either. I still don't think anyone knows though. I don't think anyone knows either, not even Holden but wait until he finds out. He will BLOW UP!! Altho he really has no say b/c he is trashing his own marriage. |

I remember those yrs, they were just awesome. I'll never forget the Douglas/Kim/Frannie s/l, that was SUPER. The other great s/l I enjoyed was Sabrina, now we never see her or Frannie. It seems we r either complaining about dragged out s/l's or warped speed s/l's, lol. I'm satisfied w/the way things have been going and I think they did the Chris/Ali thing really well, except Ali could have won. This Rick Decker thing is dumb tho IMO. |

Katie was too busy fending off Juicy Janet to worry about her sister. Katie only visits with her sister when she has problems so maybe from Tom and Margo's point of view, it was good that Katie and that dark cloud that hovers over her wasn't there.......I wonder where Margo's Dad, John Dixon was? He is another MIA....He used to really get things stirred up........ Emma probably didn't want to go to Mag and Paul's Wedding....she is probably still trying to stay away from her home which has become a homeless shelter for everyone that can't afford to stay at the Lakeview! |

I agree, and Katie's abcense didn't make sense. Also, there could have been a HUGE s/l if they would have brought back some key players. Not signling anyone out, but, for the life of me, I can't remember why Andy is no longer on the show. It would be fun,to have him come back. Then they could play him with Carly....her hubby in real life. Also, they never (at least not for my ears), said anything about John Dixon leaving. |
