Why does it smell like Italy????

Dear Sir/Madam,

As an Italian-American that has lived in Italy for a few years it is extremely offensive when a remark of why does it smell like Italy is made on TV. Let me give you a very small educational course first of all Italian cuisine is as diverse as New York City. Italian cuisine does not only consist of red sauce, olive oil, garlic and basil as many in the US believe. I realize if one has never traveled outside the US and only has TV as an educational tool then the writer's, producer's and director's need to act responsible and give proper information or not say anything. I am amazed at the ignorance of the writer's and would expect more intellectual writing but then that may be asking too much.

This is 2008 and instead of the US public becoming more intellectual and knowledgeable they seem to be heading backwards in every possible way. From obesity, to ignorance to arrogance it is really sad.

George Clooney, Ray Charles, Clint Eastwood have all said in the Interview's in Italy that it is so unfortunate that the media and TV in the US act so irresponsible and how they stereotype different cultures. It is only when US Citizen's travel abroad and see for themselves how wrong our Media and TV project other countries.

What if a foreigner traveled to a town in North Carolina (where one of my co-worker's family reside) w/no local post office, no running water or electricity in a home and went back to their country and told everyone that we have no running water in our homes, local post office or electricity in our homes how would you feel? This is ignorant and irresponsible even though there are some places in the US that this holds true, this does not mean that it applies for all cities and towns across the US? As a US citizen this would bother me as much as the irresponsible comment made on today's episode.

In the future please be a little more responsible w/the writing and comments. I had watched your show for years and today I was offended.

Regards,
BKLYN

So you heard one little comment on ATWT. One little comment isn't something to cry about.

Well, I'm gonna say that you are probably correct, because I didn't actually hear the comment, that day, so if I had; maybe I would have taken it differently. I defer to you Bkln.
