I have to disagree. I realize that Paul and Emily raising a child together is not my ideal couple for Liberty to give her child too. But if it is between the death of the baby or a life with Paul and Emily as parents then Paul and Emily congradulations on being parents. I have to wonder if everyone just wants the abortion because it is the convenient thing to do and the quickest so that Liberty doesn't have to be pregnant? Being pregnant is 1 thing being a mother is a whole other story. Girls younger than Liberty have carried a child full term then had the baby adopted. It won't hurt her or ruin her life to carry a child for nine months then put the child up for adoption.

If you say it is Liberty's choice then give her "all" the choices and then let her make it. I think she has. She knows an abortion is killing the baby but until she talked to Emily and Paul she didn't have any one explaining another way to her. You never know, God (or nature for non-religious persons) may step in here and Liberty could miscarry.

I am enjoying all the debating and the different points of view. Nice discussion.

Good morning, nonniepat,
You and I have posted together for a long time and for the most part we totally agree on everything. I am not saying that Paul and Emily would not be the better choice here, but what I am saying is that Janet and Jack are just narrow minded enough to not "allow" Liberty to let them have the baby. I do so agree that it was good for Liberty to talk with Paul and Emily and see that she has another choice. Now here comes the disagreeing part...I do think that it can indeed hurt her a lot and it certainly can ruin her life to carry the baby for nine months and then give it up. Women that have had to do that and are not able to handle that choice can have lifelong problems with their decision, as can a child. I pray that is what she decides to do and that she does choose Paul and Emily. But the main thing that I pray for is that Jack and Janet allow her to come to the right choice by herself, that has certainly not be the case thus far in all of this. My firm belief is that Janet needs to back off, Liberty may not be mature enough to make this decision on her own, but her mother should at least give her the chance!!

In MY opinion, it is Liberty choice not Janet's. Janet will not have to provide for this child for the next 18 years. If you are a follower you saw the jealousy and disappointment in Janet's eyes when her sister came into town. She talked about all her lost hopes and dreams. Everytime she cusses out Brad, she always brings up how he knocked her up. She is bitter. Does she love Lib yes she does. Very much, but if she could go back in time and make a different decision yes she would have.

I have had an abortion. It was NOT painful. It didn't hurt and I do not regret my decision. I was 20 and I made my decision. Not my mother or father. I have 2 beautiful girls that once again I decided to have.

I understand that each women feels differently about this subject. But what I don't understand is how they feel they have the right to tell another women how to feel. Liberty has 3 choices...1. abortion 2. adoption 3. raising the baby. Which should she do? I don't know? I am NOT Liberty. I can NOT make her decision. I wish more people would leave it at that. It is like people want to argue and fight. The law says she has these choices. I personally believe that people who have abortions and struggle years later with it are people who a. were forced to have on or b. really wanted to keep the baby but for some reason weren't able to, ie medical, financial, etc. I have friends who have had abortions because they WANTED to. Guess what? They don't have any residual issues hanging around about their decisions.

Can't we agree to follow the law? I know in SOME religions this is considered wrong, and I respect people's beliefs. But I also ask that you respect mines and Liberty's. IS that too much to ask? Janet is making it worse on Liberty than it already is. Liberty is 17 years old. She may not want to raise a child.. oh and I know well strap up. Well, mistakes happen. 67% of ALL pregnancies are NOT planned.

But what would have made this interesting would be if Parker was the dad. Son pregnant by step sister is so much more interesting than Liberty pregnant by a stranger.
