The reason I ask this question is when Paul searched the clinic that Barbara wanted to admit him to, when he came into the room where the man sat with his back toward him, the first thing he said was father? Now if Paul cannot remember anyone, he didn't remember Barbara's face how is it that he recognized James from the back sitting in a chair? Seems odd.

I was thinking the same thing. What's he deal?

I don't think he is faking it. If James was responsible for the chip he could somehow have implanted in the chip a memory only of James as his father. Hey, it's a soap....anything is possible!
