Emma is rushed to the hospital, Aidan is arrested, and Annie tells Scott the truth!
In their living room, Kendall tells Zach that she has trusted him through all of this, now he has to trust her and stop shutting her out of his heart. He kisses her. She pulls back and says she needs to hear it - their vows have to be real too. Zach notes that they can't go back - Kendall knows that - they can only go forward. She promises never to turn her back on him, or their family, again. She says she will only love him - forever. Kendall also promises to try to think before she acts. He smiles, then also promises to try, and to give her his heart.
At Ryan's house, Annie tells Adam and Scott that Aidan and Ryan kidnapped her. Erica protests, and Adam decides he's calling the police. Arguing ensues, and Emma runs out the door. Adam follows her, but she acts afraid of him. She runs to open a nearby door, she then falls down a flight of stairs! Adam screams for help! Ryan and Annie appear and holler at him not to move her. Scott calls for an ambulance!
Emma is wheeled into the hospital. Jake takes control as Scott, Adam, and Erica look on. Jesse appears to ask a few questions. He notes that Annie was missing, and now her daughter has fallen down a flight of stairs. Adam says Annie had nothing to do with this, and declares that he wants Aidan and Ryan locked up for kidnapping! Erica says only Emma matters. Annie comes out and Erica taunts her, saying she isn't really concerned about her daughter - only what she might say when she wakes up! Jesse asks Scott to take Erica away, then follows, suggesting to Erica that if she must be there, she should stay away from Annie! Erica turns to Scott and wonders why Emma ran to the stairs instead of up to her room? Adam and Annie are nearby, and a nurse comes to take her in with Emma and Ryan. Erica asks Adam what happened to Emma - he admits that she seemed afraid of him! He's confused as to why Emma turned against him.
Aidan knocks at Zach and Kendall's door. Once inside, he tells them he was watching Ryan's building when an ambulance pulled up, and Emma was taken to the hospital! Jesse arrives and fills them in on the story. Kendall wishes she could do something. Jesse remarks that her mother has that covered - he almost had to kick her out of the hospital after she and Annie nearly went 'ghetto' on each other. Zach is incensed that Emma is hurt. Jesse slaps the cuffs on Aidan! Zach tells him they have to play this by-the-book or people will get suspicious. Aidan asks what about Annie, but Zach says he had his chance.
In with Jake and Ryan looking at x-rays, Annie learns that Emma has a hematoma in her skull. She hisses at Ryan, asking if Kendall's freedom was really worth having this happen, then stomps out into the corridor. Erica comes running in and asks Ryan what's wrong - Annie just collapsed into Adam's arms, crying. Ryan says there is pressure in Emma's brain and they have to drill holes in her skull to release the pressure. Erica says he's not to blame - Emma was scared of Adam. Ryan vows to take his daughter far from there when she recovers! Ryan begins to pace, and Erica says only Annie is to blame for all of this - she's the one who has convinced Emma to keep secrets and lie. Ryan regrets going along with Zach's plan, but Erica says it was the only way for Emma to unburden herself. Erica once again tells Ryan it was more than the arguing that scared Emma. They look over at Annie and Adam.
Annie sits with Adam wondering if Ryan is making the right choices for Emma. Adam says Ryan can be trusted to make the best choice for Emma's care. Scott appears and says Annie is needed at the police station - they've arrested Aidan. They decide that Adam will go down there to make sure that he doesn't get away with anything - right now she can't leave Emma. Adam leaves, and Annie sobs in Scott's arms. Erica notices and asks Ryan if he thinks there's more to the story with them - Ryan cautions, "Erica." Annie tells Scott that everything she's ever done has been for Emma - she can't live without her! Scott confronts her about her threat to name Emma as his dad's killer. Annie stuns him by saying, "Let's go for a walk. You need to know the truth."
At home, Kendall thinks back to another time, when she and Zach exchanged vows. She smiles and looks down at the photograph she's holding.
Zach arrives at the hospital and asks Ryan and Erica about Emma. They tell him she's in surgery. Zach asks Erica to leave. Ryan confronts Zach about his plan, and says he never cared about Emma. Zach sighs and says, "Yeah, that's me - doesn't care about kids." Ryan notes they want the same things. Zach says the last thing he wanted was for the little girl to get hurt - he came because he knows what it's like to have a kid in this hospital - and to offer Ryan as much support as he'll take.
At the police station, Jesse tells Aidan that he'll have to go through the motions when Adam gets there - he may have to spend the night in jail, but ultimately, there will be no evidence and the charges will be dropped. Aidan remarks that Annie already suspects they are working together - he may have to throw the book at him for real! Adam soon arrives, and Jesse tells him Aidan confessed. Jesse begins needling Adam about whether he's covering up for Annie. Adam says his brother is dead - if Annie was involved he'd be the last one to protect her!
Annie and Scott sit in a waiting area and she says to him, "You understand now, don't you? Why it has to be this way?" Suddenly, Erica appears and relays news about Emma having made it through surgery. Annie rants about getting an army of lawyers on Ryan and Zach, and Erica is appalled - she just told her Emma survived brain surgery and all she does is obsess about getting Ryan! Annie grits her teeth and turns to ask Scott if he believes this - but he's gone!
Scott is at home in the parlor looking at the spot where his father died. He is overcome with intense emotion and lunges for a drink of scotch from the bottle on the table! Adam arrives home and tells Scott that Emma is going to be fine. He says that Jesse is still trying to pin Stuart's murder on Annie, asking how stupid would he have to be to get involved with the woman who killed his brother? Scott says he's not. Adam asks how he is suddenly so sure? Scott replies, "Because I know now that Annie is not the one who killed my dad!"
In the hospital, Zach is on the phone with Kendall, asking her to give Ian a kiss for him, and telling her not to wait up. He hangs up, then stops short, Erica is standing there looking stunned!
Jake tells Ryan and Annie that Emma made it through the surgery, but he doesn't know when she'll wake up.
At home, Kendall hears the phone ring, then listens as the warden of the prison leaves a message for Zach - there was an incident in his wife's cell block and she was stabbed - they're taking her to Pine Valley hospital!
