Tad and Dixie have their reunion, Krystal and Jesse beg Tad to hang on, JR finally gets through to Adam, Kendall and Zach plan for Spike's birthday.
At the Slater home, Zach and Kendall are planning Spike's second birthday party; she wonders if they should cancel it because of the shootings. Zach insists that all they need for a great day with Spike is the four of them. Kendall asks how he is doing post-shooting; he says being home makes everything better. They blow up balloons and enjoy the day. Rachael calls and Kendall asks her to keep the boys busy for a few more hours so they can finish the plans. Zach kisses her and carries her to the bedroom. A while later they return to the sitting room. Kendall asks how he held it together while she was in the coma. She brings up the one night stand, apologizing again for letting him down. He holds her, telling her that everything will get better. Kendall decides to put the bad thoughts away and concentrate on Spike's birthday. "For Tad and for Julia," Zach says, kissing her.
At the hospital, Jesse tries to get Angie to relax or eat but she won't. They lie on the bed as Angie talks about Tad. When she realizes it has been a long time with no pages, Angie becomes agitated. Jesse calms her, saying no news is good news. He promises to check on Tad but insists that Angie try to sleep.
Dixie appears in Tad's room. He asks how they can have a second chance. She asks him to come with her. Tad's spirit leaves his body and Dixie tells him they are having a baby! He realizes she is talking about Kate. She apologizes for not trusting him seven years ago. She asks if he'll have a child with her; Tad says yes. They kiss. Tad and Dixie are sent to a birthing room, where she struggles. Soon, baby Kate is born. "Our Kate," Tad says. They are fast-forwarded to Kate's first birthday. Dixie tapes the party while Tad helps Kate blow out the candle. Next comes Kate's first Christmas and then a simple, quiet afternoon watching her at home. Kate takes her first step. Then Kate is about 5, drawing pictures for them. They put Kate to bed and enjoy the evening alone before a fire. Tad wonders what life would have been like if they hadn't been given this second chance. She says they'll never have to imagine it. They kiss. Their life is fast-forwarded to Kate at 18; she leaves to meet some friends. Tad and Dixie make love and Tad calls her the love of his life. They are fast-forwarded to Kate's wedding; he already misses her and wants to visit her on the honeymoon. Dixie laughs. He takes her in his arms and says he'll never let her go. Once more they are fast-forwarded to meeting their first grandchild - Kate's son. Next, they are very old, arguing about who left the door open. Tad won't admit he did it. They laugh and giggle at each other. Back in the present, Tad kisses Dix and thanks her for showing him their life. "I think I'm ready to go with you," he says. Dixie gets worried. Tad excitedly tells her he wants their life - forever. She takes his hand and they walk toward the light.
Krystal is waiting outside Tad's recovery room. She prays that he will keep holding on. She sits with him but he doesn't wake up. She begs him to come back for Jenny's sake. Krystal keeps talking to him, begging him not to give up; she mentions Kate and promises to help him find her.
Jesse visits Tad's room, telling him to come back to them. Jesse wonders what he can do to bring Tad back. He returns to Angie's room, where she is finally sleeping. Angie wakes, invites him into the bed and they hold one another.
JR meets Adam at the Chandler mansion. He goes to check on Kathy and little A, wondering how to tell Kathy about Julia. Adam harshly says it won't matter because Julia wasn't Kathy's real mom. JR angrily tells him that biology doesn't matter. Little A and Kathy come downstairs and when they are settled in the kitchen, JR brings up Kate again. Adam keeps up his harsh stance, saying Tad doesn't deserve to know Kate. He brings up Charlotte. "Don't you mean Jenny?" JR asks, reminding Adam that he walked away from the baby. Adam disagrees and tells JR how hard it was to let go of Charlotte. JR still believes Tad deserves to know Kate. Kathy and Little A return with snacks but JR sends them back to Winifred. JR decides he'll find Kate for Tad! Adam demands that JR focus on little A, not Kate but JR won't give in. He says Kate is his family. To make his father understand, JR asks who he loves. He goads Adam until he admits he is still in love with Krystal. JR tells Adam to think about what losing Tad will do to Krystal and the rest of the family. Adam begins to break down. He looks at the ceiling. "Are you satisfied?" he asks and runs from the house.
Adam arrives at the hospital but before he can reach Tad's room, Jake stops him! Adam asks if Tad can hear him speak. Jake refuses but Adam walks to Tad's door anyway.
