Jake assists on Tad's surgery, Jack confronts Zach, Kendall makes Greenlee talk to her, Krystal and company await news of Tad's condition, Jesse and Aidan decide to work on Kate's case.

In the operating room, Joe tells Jake he doesn't have to assist with Tad's surgery; Jake says he wouldn't be anywhere else. Dixie appears next to Tad, telling him to hang on for Kate's sake. The operation begins; Jake finds many bleeding arteries. "He's bleeding out," Jake says, asking for more blood. Dixie returns and watches as Jake finally gets one artery closed. Angie stands with Joe, as Jake tries to save him. Tad begins losing even more blood. They finally get the bleeding stopped and the bullet out. Tad is taken to a recovery room. Jake sits with him, telling him not to give up now. When he is gone, Dixie comes to Tad, taking his hand. He wakes and sees her there! Tad mentions second chances and Dix says they can have another chance. She holds his hand close to her heart as Tad loses consciousness.

In the hall, Adam asks Krystal if he can do anything. She says he can't and walks off. Dixie appears and tells Adam he could tell them all about Kathy/Kate. Krystal returns to Babe and JR, telling them she just spoke with Maria about Julia and Kathy. Frankie comes by but doesn't have any news about Tad yet. Krystal and Babe walk away. Adam sits with JR, who believes Adam is only there to gloat once Tad dies. Adam swears he doesn't want Tad to die. JR tells Adam to leave because no one wants him there and then he walks off. Dixie returns to sit with Adam, who begins dreaming that Colby was one of the victims of the wedding shootings! He asks Dixie if this is what she meant when she said his family would pay.

Down the hall, Zach asks Aidan if he's seen Greenlee; both he and Kendall are upset to learn Aidan has been focused on Julia and Tad. Jesse mentions trying to find Kate, so Tad will wake up to good news. He and Aidan leave to track down leads together.

In the waiting room, Greg brings coffee and tries to keep everyone's spirits up. Ruth and Opal tell some stories about Tad's caddish days, making Cassandra laugh. Opal and Greg leave. Cassandra offers Ruth a magazine but she doesn't want it. Cass runs into Dre in the hall and fills him in on the shootings. They talk about his mother and 9/11.

At the office, Aidan and Jesse hit several dead-ends. Aidan suggests a game of pool to clear their heads. Aidan imitates Tad, calling himself "Fish-and-Chips"; he thanks Jesse for getting Robert. He is very upset that he wasn't in on the capture but Jesse assures him that he was exactly where he needed to be. They return to the hospital and are talking about the search for Kate as Adam listens in. Aidan starts to call Greenlee but then puts the phone away.

Frankie is called in to consult on the case of a woman who was brought into the hospital unconscious and beaten up. The woman won't give her name or even tell them what happened. Frankie works up her vitals and takes a few ex-rays; he tells her she has a hairline fracture, among all the bumps and bruises and asks if she was beaten. She won't answer. Frankie leaves to talk to a social worker and when they return, the mystery woman is gone.

Greg finds Babe and Krystal in another waiting room and asks what he can do. "Can you guarantee me Tad will walk out of here alive?" she asks. Greg says he can't and hugs her. JR comes into the room to comfort Krystal, who wonders how she can help Tad now. She worries that she never loved Tad enough. Adam watches them from outside the room. Angie comes into the hall, as Krystal tells Adam that learning about Kate would be a huge help to Tad. Angie says Tad came out of surgery okay but he is still in grave danger. Adam listens in as JR and Babe support Krystal.

Across the hall, Joe gives Ruth, Greg, Cassandra and Jesse the same news. He says the next 24 hours are crucial.

Jack stops by Zach and Kendall's a little later on. Jack brings up Greenlee. Zach lets him know that he knows exactly what happened between Kendall and Aidan. Jack says Greenlee deserves better than Kendall's version of friendship. Zach defends his wife, saying Greenlee is no angel either. He says Kendall is trying to fix things with Greens now; Jack can't believe Kendall has gone to Greenlee's.

At the penthouse, Greenlee tells Alphonso he is lucky he'll never be in love. She falls asleep on the couch. When she wakes, Kendall is there! Kendall insists that they talk about what happened but Greens doesn't even want to look at her. When Kendall pushes it, Greenlee tells her the only thing that will make everything alright is for Kendall to give up Fusion! Kendall can't believe it. Greens says she'll destroy the company if Kendall won't give it up! Kendall calls her bluff, reminding Greenlee of how hard they worked to build the company. Greenlee says they can still work together but that she'll never stop hating Kendall. When Kendall is at the door, Greenlee asks how she could do it. "A part of me feels dead now. And you did that," she says, crying. Kendall leaves.

Dixie asks Tad if he wants to start over with her.

JR tells Adam that Kathy can't handle any more surprises.
