Tad can't believe what Adam wants. Kendall reacts to Joe's news. Aidan and Quentin don't find anything in the underground area. Water breaks through the walls of the bomb shelter!

Erica arrives at Kendall's just in time to hear Joe's new diagnosis for Spike. All of them are stunned to learn that Spike would have become deaf whether or not Greenlee kidnapped him and they got into the accident. Joe leaves. Kendall goes off the deep end, believing more than ever that she is to blame for Greenlee's disappearance and Zach's; and even their deaths if neither is ever found! Erica sits down with Kendall, telling her that none of this is her fault, after all, Greenlee was after Spike. Ryan suggests going to tell Aidan the news but Kendall insists on going alone. She leaves. Ryan suggests that Erica go to Jacks to give him the news and she hurries away. Ryan settles in with the kiddos alone. Josh stops by and Ryan tells him about Joe's new findings. Ryan says they need to start preparing Kendall for the possibility that Zach may not return alive. Josh is surprised that Ryan is giving up hope. Ryan reminds Josh how long it has been and tells Josh that he knows Zach would move heaven and earth to return to Kendall but that he may not be able to.
In the woods, Quentin pulls Aidan back up to the surface. He didn't find anything below except ice. Aidan finally tells Quentin about the drum of drug paraphernalia and both men begin to wonder if Greens and Zach may have run across the possible drug dealers. They cover the entrance they found and Aidan says they need to split up. Quentin, already discouraged, tells Aidan that he needs to realize they may never find Greenlee. Angry, Aidan says he won't stop until he finds her. Quentin decides to stick around. Aidan asks him to run in to Pine Valley to stock up on supplies before the storm gets there. Aidan keeps searching an area of the woods hoping for a sign of Greens or Zach. Kendall manages to find him and asks him to come back to the house with her. As they leave, neither notices the handle sticking up out of a pile of leaves!

Quentin returns to Sylvester's house. He knocks a cylinder to the floor, looks at it, but doesn't notice the bomb shelter markings on it and tosses it aside. He leaves. A few minutes later Aidan and Kendall walk inside. They don't notice the cylinder, which has rolled under the bed. Aidan updates Kendall on finding the hole in the ground. Kendall tells Aidan that Greenlee wasn't to blame for Spike's deafness. The news isn't a relief to Aidan and neither are Kendall's apologies. "You really are a piece of work," he says. He asks Kendall to leave but the storm is too bad for her to drive home. She calls Ryan to let him know she is stuck. Aidan pulls out blankets and pillows and they settle in to sleep. He turns out the lights and takes the chair, leaving the bed for Kendall.

In the bomb shelter the area where Zach has been digging begins to collapse under the weight of water pouring through. Desperately Greenlee and Zach try to stem the tide but they can't. Zach tells Greenlee that if they keep digging more water will come in but if they stop digging they'll never get out of the hole. Zach sets up a pan under the running water, hoping they at least will get some drinking water out of the latest predicament. Greenlee tells a few lame jokes but Zach isn't interested in joking around. Greenlee keeps on with the jokes for a while anyhow. When she starts joking about her appearance Zach actually grins. He tells Greens a few jokes. Greenlee asks Zach how much time he thinks they really have.

At Jackson's, Julia and Kathy stop by to invite Jack and Lily to a tea party at Wildwind. They agree to come by. With Kathy out of earshot Julia asks Lily if she would mind talking to Kathy about losing her parents. Lily and Kathy head off to the kitchen to chat. Julia tells Jack that the party is more to keep Kathy's mind off of losing her parents the Christmas before than to simply have friends over. Jack and Julia follow Lily and Kathy into the kitchen after a while. Lily and Kathy continue working on their art project for a while and then go after hot chocolate. In the living room Jack and Julia talk about the search for Greenlee. Jack wonders if his daughter will make it home for Christmas and Julia tells him to hold on to hope. Erica walks in and sees Julia holding Jack's hand. Erica asks for some hot cocoa and Jack fetches it from the kitchen. Julia leaves to check on Lily and Kathy. Erica gets right to the point: that Greenlee has been cleared of any involvement in Spike's deafness. Julia returns in time to hear that announcement. Jack and Erica sit down to talk and Julia gathers up Kathy to leave. Jack wonders how they can ever make things right for Greens. When Jack doesn't jump with joy at Erica's announcement, she leaves.

Tad doesn't believe for a second that Adam has real information about Kate. Adam sits down in his pompous way, talking in circles about his contacts but not giving Tad any real information. Tad finally gives in and asks Adam what he really knows. Adam says they have to deal first and tells Tad to drop the custody suit against Krystal or he'll never give him the info on Kate! Tad refuses, telling Adam that he will protect his children and he won't trade one child for news about another. "Bartering one baby for another?" Tad asks and points out that Adam has lost all of his children so he obviously doesn't know the first thing about being a dad. Adam turns to go but Tad stops him. He asks about the information Adam has but Adam says he won't say a thing until Tad agrees to drop the suit. Tad doesn't say anything and Adam says that is the main difference between them - Adam would do anything for his children but Tad won't go that extra mile! Adam leaves. Tad calls an investigator friend, tells him there is new information out there, somewhere, about Kate. Julia and Kathy arrive.
