A Day to Remember

Tuesday, September 11 2007
JR tries to get Jonathan on board; Ryan confronts Greenlee; Kendall's heartsick about Spike; Ava's in trouble -- naked pictures and a pregnancy scare!; Tad and the gang remember 9/11

JR stumbles on something naughty...and useful

Jonathan and Ryan are dressed to the nines and lunching at the marina with a very businesslike man. Meanwhile, at the bar of the same marina, JR is schmoozing someone over the phone. JR pays a waiter to give him the scoop on what Ryan and Jonathan are up to. When he finds out that they’re into business deals, he hatches a plan to get them on board with Ava.com. Right away he hops onto the Internet to research how to best get in with Jonathan. With little searching at all, he finds the photos of Ava and Jonathan naked on the beach.

At Fusion, Annie’s telling the girls about Spike’s frightening night. The girls are on the warpath for Greenlee. Talking about Greenlee’s horrible deeds leads everyone to a little introspection and they talk about all the bad things they’ve done, but call Annie the “only innocent one in the bunch.” Annie doesn’t look too happy, knowing that she’s not exactly as “innocent” as they all make her out to be. Amanda gets a phone call from JR – he’s sent her the link to the photo of Ava and Jonathan. Amanda is unhappy and the freak-out spreads like wildfire through Fusion as Babe and Annie see the photo themselves. The stuff’s hitting the fan, just as Ava enters.

Zach tries to comfort Kendall

Zach and Kendall have just come home from a visit to Ian. Kendall says Spike’s life flashed before her eyes when he had his allergic reaction – in her “vision,” Spike could hear again. Kendall has no desire to take Spike back to Dr. Hilliard. Zach blames Greenlee for what happened. Kendall starts strolling down memory lane about when she brought Spike home and advice Erica had given her about not being afraid to raise him. Kendall’s doubting herself. She’s convinced she’s failed Spike again. She gets emotional, talking about how scary the world is. “I’m supposed to be my baby’s safe place,” she says. “I haven’t been Spike’s safe place since I told Greenlee to take him to the ER.” Zach does what he does best – moves into Mr. Fixit mode and tries to come up with plans to make Kendall feel better.

Ryan's having Greenlee watched

At the marina, Ryan runs into Greenlee and tells her about Spike’s reaction to the vitamins. Greenlee starts to freak out, asking if everyone’s okay, Ryan cuts her off, telling her to “Stop it! Now!” Greenlee claims to have only wanted to help by sending Dr. Hilliard to Kendall. “Spike is not your son,” Ryan tells her. Ryan accuses her of purposely causing problems in their lives again. Greenlee denies this, saying, “I’ve moved on, Ryan.” Ryan doesn’t buy it. He tells Greenlee that he’s hired a team of guys to watch her every move and stop her every time she comes near Spike or Kendall. To prove it, he lists every move she made the night before when she thought she was home alone in her apartment. Greenlee gets emotional, swearing she’s not going to hurt Spike. But Ryan won’t let up and tells her he’s going to continue to have her followed relentlessly until she leaves Pine Valley.

The mood is somber at The Comeback

At The Comeback, Tad and the new neighbors are chowing down. Jack is at the bar for coffee and TV. He flips on the news just in time for a moment of silence for the victims of 9/11. Afterwards, Josh, Jack, and the others at The Comeback reminisce the horror of that day and how it personally affected each of them. It’s a touching moment, sad, and when Tad offers a toast with orange juice, followed by hugs and kisses from Kathy, who’s just arrived with Julia, it’s a riveting scene.

"I can help you help Ava."

Back at the marina, JR approaches Jonathan. JR puts on the fake sympathy act, hoping to bait Jonathan into conversing with him. It works – Jonathan bites. JR whips out the laptop and shows Jonathan the beach photo. Jonathan doesn’t give JR the warmest reception in the world, half-taunting him, definitely shutting him down. JR schmoozes Jonathan then, telling him he’ll be helping Ava by getting in on JR’s plan. “Why would I want to partner up with you?” Jonathan asks. “Because I can help you help Ava,” JR answers. But Jonathan turns him down flat. “There’s no way I would put one red cent into your pocket,” Jonathan says. JR treats it just like he treats everything these days – he laughs at it and warns Jonathan that he’ll be sorry he didn’t get in on the ground floor of this new business.

Ava gets an earful from the girls

At Fusion, the girls sit Ava down and show her the pictures of her and Jonathan. She’s surprised and unnerved, but tries to pass it off as no big deal. Ava asks if they’re trying to fire her or lecture her. Babe tells her that they’re being like big sisters, trying to keep her from making any more mistakes. Ava sprints to the restroom, sick to her stomach again. Babe catches Annie in passing and tells her she looks a lot less stressed out. Annie says she feels like she can breathe again. Ava reappears, obviously sick. They tell her to go home, but she doesn’t want to go. Babe reaches out to her, tells her to stick around and have some juice and let them take care of her. When Babe walks away, Ava pulls a pregnancy test out of her purse and trashes it, saying, “I know what I don’t need.” She begins worrying about her looks, staring into a mirror and asking if the girls think she looks fat, bloated, puffy. Babe finds the pregnancy test in the trash and confronts Ava. Ava denies it. The girls try to make her feel more comfortable and take the test there at Fusion – Ava doesn’t want to do it. She rushes out of Fusion.

Julia and Kathy are back

Things are lightening up again as we join Tad, Julia, and Kathy having pancakes at The Comeback. Krystal comes out with Jenny and they talk about how wonderful children are. Josh takes Tad’s seat with Julia and they talk about making fresh starts.

Back at the Slater house, Kendall, alone, turns on the stereo and begins crying. Zach enters and tries to help, but she’s speechless with grief.

Ava rushes out the Fusion door and runs smack into JR. She tries to play it tough, tries to tell JR to get away from her, but she’s too tearful to get it out. Doubled over in pain, Ava appears to be in trouble, with only JR there to help.

Hi y'all! Take a moment to enjoy the pix on this recap today -- Chrissi snapped me some good ones, don't you agree? Kristi will be back tomorrow. Sure enjoyed recapping for a few days!

On a personal note, I was so glad AMC had a moment of silence for the victims of 9/11. As usual, the show showed good taste and decorum. God bless to any and all of you who are still grieving your losses.

I am liking JR's hair lately. It's a nice change from spikey or else greased back.

About the Papperazi (sp?) How timely! Now there is that TMZ, as if we don't see enough garbage about unfortunate people who happen to be famous. Makes us all grateful to be totally unknown, eh?

I hope Greenlee gets a chance to redeem herself soon - some fresh good deed so people will get off her case -

Ava! She's such a mess! I feel sorry for her!

Not for Annie though, she's a dingbat and a chicken.

Kendall needs to chill out. Sometimes she can be a rock, the rest of the time a monster or basket case. Maybe she should switch to decaf.

Erica is lucky to have Jack - any other guy would have strangled her a long time ago, if in Jack's shoes, and sometimes, frankly, I wish he would!!!!

Kendal reminded me so much of myself today. My son at the age of 2 yrs lost his left eye to Cancer, and I would try to do thing using only one eye to try to understand the world he would have to live in. She is such a great actress. Great job to the writers also.

A day to Remember what a great thing for AMC to do to remember all the beautiful souls that we lost on that tragic day in 2001. My heart still goes out to all the loved ones and friends that had their lives change forever. God Bless you all.

Ryan was getting on my last nerve today. I really wish HE would leave Pine Valley.
