Jamie drops a bombshell on Tad. Ryan tracks down Kendall and tells off Dr. Hilliard. There is another setback for Zach. Babe tries to help Ava.

At Fusion, JR watches Amanda and Babe run ragged trying to keep up with the sales calls for Fusion Green. Seeing him, Amanda goes to talk to him and asks him to stick around for Babe. He asks Babe is little A can go on an overnighter on his new yacht with JR and Amanda. Babe isn't sure because little A has been sleepwalking. JR makes a joke about little A sleeping in a life jacket, which annoys Babe. She settles on a day trip - as long as little A is home for dinner! Ava's new manager, Andy Conway, arrives to announce Ava's arrival - she walks in glammed to the nines and posing with every step. "Is that Paris Hilton or a pole dancer?" Amanda mumbles. Babe and JR are equally stunned by her appearance and her manager, who has supposedly gotten her several movie auditions - they are really porn roles! He tells Babe that Ava being the face of Fusion is too limiting; Babe takes offense. He shows her the contract, which Babe immediately tears into pieces! Angry, Ava lashes out at Babe, who tells Amanda to deal with Ava. Andy tells Ava she can't tear up his contract but when Babe shows him the contract Ava already signed with Fusion he realizes he doesn't have a leg to stand on. Ava tries to stop Amanda from escorting Andy out but he leaves anyway. Ava can't believe it but Babe doesn't take any grief from her - she tells Ava that she has two choices: stick with Fusion and possibly become a real star or follow Andy and wind up in the gutter! She manages to calm Ava down by showing her some "success stories" from Andy's stable of girls - none of them are the kind of successes that Ava envisioned. Babe explains that she needs a friend and a manager and suggests Amanda for the role. Neither Ava nor Amanda like the idea but she - and JR! - talk them into it. Ava leaves; Amanda asks JR to walk her out. At the elevator JR asks Amanda about Ava's contract but she doesn't know much. Amanda leaves.
Ryan, annoyed that Kendall has taken Spike to the new doctor's, tells her about the problems with Ian. She can't believe she wasn't there; Ryan tells her to get back to PVH and he'll take care of Spike. Ryan texts Tad that Kendall is headed back and things are fine. After she leaves, Ryan asks Dr. Hilliard what he wants, exactly. Dr. Hilliard defends his actions, telling Ryan that he didn't know Spike hadn't been discharged and that he was "referred" to the case. He offers to walk Ryan through the procedures but Ryan doesn't want to hear it. He leaves.

Tad tells Joe, Josh and Zach that Kendall is on her way back. Lily arrives to bring Zach a few papers but he can't concentrate on work. Josh takes over for him and Lily chatters on about Zach needing a closet where he can go alone. He thanks her for bringing the papers. Josh prepares to go back to the office to catch up on some work. Lily offers Zach a present - a book for Ian, custom made not to include red, that she plans to read to him. Lily and Josh leave. Zach is touched by the gift and begins to read the book. Kendall arrives. She apologizes for leaving and not telling him where she was going but defends her actions by saying she was trying to help Spike. "While you were gone, our little boy could have died," Zach says. They don't talk any more until Dr. Delano arrives, telling them that Ian made it through surgery but things are still tough and go. He orders them to stay away from the baby, not even stand next to him, until they are given the go ahead by him. He wants to keep things very sterile for Ian because of the brain hemorrhaging. He does allow them to stand at the window to watch the baby as the nurses wheel him in, this time in an incubator! Zach begins to read the book aloud to Ian, even though the baby can't possibly hear him. Kendall begins to cry. Zach finishes the book and walks away from Kendall, who follows him, asking him to talk to her. She tries to explain why she left - to help Spike! "It had nothing to do with Ian," she says, but Zach only sees that as a problem. He reminds her that Ian has been in more trouble than Spike since the moment he was born and Kendall hasn't paid any attention to that! When Kendall continues to apologize Zach tells her to stop, that he has to concentrate on Ian now. He returns to the window to watch the baby. Kendall whispers, "Always only you. Remember?" she asks, telling Zach that she needs him. Zach walks away, telling Kendall that their son has needed her for days now!

In his office Joe thanks Tad for helping Ryan track down Kendall so quickly. Jamie follows them in, excited about a new project - Jake called and offered Jamie a position with a new AIDS clinic in Africa. Tad is stunned. "I don't want you to go," he says! Joe agrees, but also thinks Jamie should follow his heart to a few new opportunities. Joe is called away but offers Jamie his support in the move. After thinking on the decision a little more, Jamie realizes he would miss Jenny growing up if he were to move to Africa - and decides to stay! Tad changes his tune, telling Jamie that he can't rearrange his life just because Tad will miss him! "But what about you guys?" Jamie asks. Tad assures him that they are only a phone call or an instant message away. They hug.

As soon as Ryan returns to the hospital he has Joe paged to check on Spike. He tells him about the new doctor, worried that the man may have done something to Spike. Joe begins to examine the boy. After the exam, Joe tells Ryan that Spike is perfectly fine, Ryan apologizes for overreacting but then goes right ahead and overreacts again by asking for security in Spike's room. Joe tells him he just needs to talk to Kendall. Jonathan walks in, worried about Kendall and the new doctor. Ryan fills him on Dr. Hilliard, still angry about what Kendall did and what Dr. Hilliard may have offered. Ryan can't take his eyes off Spike, worried that something may have happened while Spike was away from PVH. Jonathan changes the subject to Ryan's new venture capital project, telling him the deafness research he was planning to invest in is a sound investment. He tells Ryan that he'll take the job offer he mentioned a few weeks back! Jonathan tells Ryan to call Annie, not telling him exactly what happened with her, only that she is really stressed out. He leaves. Ryan calls Annie but can't get through - the number has been disconnected! He tries again but gets the same disconnect message.
On his way out of the hospital Jamie runs into Josh, who congratulates him on the new project in Africa. As they talk about family, Jamie tells Josh that it isn't just his family, the Martins are Josh's family, too, if he would let them in. Josh isn't he needs more family than the Kane's - who are a lot to deal with - but Jamie encourages him to give the Martin's a chance. Jamie walks away.

Joe returns to his office to find Tad is still there. They talk about Jamie leaving. Emotionally, Tad wonders how he can survive without Jamie around. Joe sits with him for a while, telling Tad that talking Jamie into going was the right thing to do. Not giving Tad time for self-pity, Joe makes him help clean up the office. "You're a wonderful father, Tad," Joe says as Tad tries to hold back his tears. "I learned from the best," Tad says.
When JR returns to the office, Jamie is already there, telling Babe about his move to Africa! "You can't leave. I need you," Babe says.
