The Wait is Over

Friday, August 10 2007
The doctors test Spike's hearing; Greenlee is forced to face her past.

What will the tests reveal?

Annie visits Kendall in Spike's room and offers to help her with him. Annie leaves. A nurse comes in and asks Kendall to let her take Spike so that Kendall can consult with Joe. In the hall, Jack visits with coffee for Ryan and Zach. He asks about Erica and learns that she left a while before. Annie returns to the guys. Joe tells them they are nearly ready for Spike's exam and assures her that the baby will sleep through the tests. Kendall returns to Spike and watching her, Zach is overcome with emotion. In his mind he is pacing the halls, remembering all the ways he wronged Ethan and the way he failed Kendall - by not getting rid of Greenlee in the beginning. "End the curse," he tells himself, but he has no idea how to do that. The nurse returns, bringing Zach back to the present, and taking Spike away. Kendall follows them part way down the hall, wondering how she can fix things for Spike. She begins to freak out, yelling for Zach to take her and the boys away from there. Zach goes to Kendall and brings her back to the present. Ryan signs a few consent forms, thinking about Greenlee and how different she was from the moment she came back. In his mind, he is confronting her and asking for answers. He doesn't get any but swears that he will get a confession from her. Standing alone, Annie wonders how anyone could not love Spike. She talks to herself, remembering the early days of being together with Ryan. "I don't belong with them and I'm afraid they're going to find out," she says, afraid that once they learn her secret Ryan, Kendall and the others will turn on her the way they turned on Greenlee! Josh arrives, bringing the entire crew coffee and asking for an update on Spike. Annie tries to distract Ryan, reminding him of the card tricks he taught her. Ryan leaves to get something more to drink.

Kendall is heartbroken and angry!

Zach asks Kendall to come with him to see Ian. Telling him she doesn't want Ian to be affected by her fears for Spike, she tells him she can't go in. From the window, Kendall watches Zach, torn between her two boys and blaming herself for the states they are both in. She is petrified that by going to Ian she will cause him even more harm and wonders how anyone can not hate her because of the things she has done. Back in Spike's room, Kendall tries to clean up a little but she can't concentrate on anything but her hatred of Greens. "Her voice was the last thing that my baby heard," she says, pushing the crib hard against the wall and then sliding down another wall to cry.

Jack wonders how he can help.

Joe returns to the group, telling them that Spike came through the MRI with flying colors but asking them not to visit him for a while yet. They want him to come fully out of the anesthesia before then. Annie and Kendall hug at the good news. Down the hall Ryan swears he will get Greenlee to admit what she has done - not because it will change things but because he wants to know! Jonathan arrives and gives Annie a photo album from the house. As she looks through the pictures Annie swears to never let them down the way her family let her down. Jonathan suggests a card game to take their minds off things but Jack declines. He begins to pace the halls, struggling with his feelings for Greenlee, his love for Erica and Kendall. He has no idea where to turn. Kendall returns from Spike's room. She draws a blanket from the bed and a three-heart bracelet falls out. "Nooooo," she cries and falls to the floor in grief.

Erica breaks down in tears.

Erica is watching babies from outside the nursery when a young couple goes in to see their newborn. The image of the couple takes Erica back to when Spike was well. The picture they make almost makes Erica angry because her daughter can't be happy. She blames Greenlee for all of the bad things and wonders who can fix Kendall's, Spike's, Ian's and Zach's lives this time around. In an elevator, Erica begins to pray. She asks Mona to come back to her, to help her help Kendall through the next few days and weeks. As she returns to Kendall she runs into Jack. Rather than talk to him, she heads straight for Kendall and pulls her into a hug.

Zach lets anger mask his fears.

Zach watches over Ian for a while. He leaves the NICU, knocks over a cleaning cart and then angrily breaks a broom handle over the cart! He begins talking to himself about the rules of hockey, relating them to the rules of life. He believes Kendall and the boys have given him a new lease on life, if he could only not mess that up. But he believes he already has - by not keeping them safe from Greenlee and even from Ryan, because he set the chain of events in place by faking his death! "I really want to hurt the other player," he says, wondering if he can save Kendall and the boys from all the evils in the world and vowing to set things right for his family!

Can Greens admit the truth?

Aidan is basically dragging Greens around the crash site, forcing her to look at the site and remember what happened. She tried to leave but he won't let her and makes her look at the yellow police tape and the spot where the car used to be! He tells her she needs to figure things out and the best way to do that is to come to terms with exactly what she did. She tries to leave again, but Aidan holds her in place, forcing her to look. He points out an area that seems to be Spike's blood. Greenlee can't keep the memories of the crash at bay and begins to relive the events, which only serves to make her angry with Aidan. "You weren't here," she says. In her mind, she pulls the old three-heart bracelet that Ryan gave her from her pocket, reminding herself that she and Kendall and Spike would always be linked. The memory, though, only serves to make her feel more guilty. Finally Greenlee realizes that she has never acted in Spike's best interests - not when she walked away from him, not when she returned to town and certainly not when she tried to kidnap him. "I did this," she says. "I broke it." She looks up to find Aidan reaching down to help her back up the incline.

The card game doesn't last long as no one can concentrate on anything other than Spike's future. All of them realize they are afraid - for Spike and for themselves. Joe returns.

This is all getting so crazy!!! I am sick of this SL. Greenlee is crazy, Kendall is crazy, and Ryan is so full of himself I can't stand it!! There are worse things then being deaf, at least he didn't die!! This show is so silly, I don't even watch anymore, I just read the updates and know i am not missing anything.

It's not easy having a child with a disability. I actually feel sorry for Jack. How is he suppose to choose between Erica and Greenley?

analise i agree with you. this show is getting worse everyday!

Yeah, at the beginning it was alright, but now this whole storyline is just getting to me! Everyday now its just Kendall, Kendall, Kendall, Greenlee, Greenlee, Greenlee. Where is everybody else? GOD! It looks like Monday is going to revolve around this whole Spike mess again too!

y'all are all dumb (except for forevergolden) ! The show is actually interesting now! Soap operas are suppose to be all drama, that's what they are, duh!

If they were all cookiecutter storylines no one would watch them.

Don't leave comments just to insult the show, that's annoying!

I of course know that a soap opera is supposed to be drama, and I'm not insulting the show. I have been AMC for years, all am saying is just give us day without focusing so much on the same characters, there's a lot of others characters on the show that are far more interesting.

I thought today was really good. It show how well they really can act.
Also if your son was hurt like this and may never hear again and you have a new baby in the NICU, How are you suppost to be. A heartless mother and go about your day as if nothing is going on. This is a family that is hurt and worried about two childred. Something that doesn't change over night.

With everyone talking to themselves, it was a strange show today. Ryan (can't remember his real name) proved once again his limited acting ability. He looked like a real psycho in his segment.

Jack loves Erica, but he won't force his daughter face what she did? Crazy!!!!!!!!!! Kendall, Ryan and Zach need a new storyline because this ine is too long and too old. Greenlee impersonating Bianca? I smell trouble from a mile away!!!!!!!!!!!!!
