A door closes, a door opensTuesday, January 09 2007 |
Babe confronts Erica, Linda is at death's door, Zach tells Chief Frye about his connection to the Fusion murders, and Danielle meets with foul play.

Josh announces to Kendall "I want Babe!" They bicker about her unwillingness to give Annie a chance, and eventually agree that Kendall will "deliver" Babe to Josh in return for him keeping the DNA information about Ryan on the down low.
Babe goes to see Erica and complain about Josh. "I need you to get Josh to leave me the hell alone!"
Erica isn't very willing to be of help and suggests that it's not Josh's fault because Babe is a vixen. Erica has "no sympathy" for Babe, and doesn't believe that Babe really wants Josh to leave her alone. It's the "signals" Babe is sending! Just then, Erica answers her door, and it's Jeff, who sweeps her into a passionate kiss.
Erica sends Jeff away, and Babe questions her about the messages Erica is sending. Erica, as expected, thinks the rules apply to others not to her. "You really ought to be nicer to me," counters Babe. "With very little effort I caould be calling you mom." Erica is horrified at that.
After Babe leaves, Jeff returns to Erica's. Jeff says that they've talked enough, and that it's "time for action."
As they wait at the police station for Chief Frye, Ryan asks Zach why Kendall's so "bent out of shape about Annie." Zach tells Ryan that he's a smart guy and to figure it out. Ryan assures him that nothing can come between him and his son.
Chief Frye comes out with the new evidence: an old flyer with the picture of Amelia, Zach's mother. And it was found in Zarf's London apartment! What does Zarf has to do with Zach's mother?
Zach is flummoxed, and says that Zarf has no connection to his family. Ryan says the same. Ryan urges Zach to "tell him"—about the white ribbon and gardenia. Frye is angry that Zach didn't tell him about this earlier, but Zach insists he's just realized the connection.

As Julia stands at her hospital bedside, Linda says she's going to die. Julia assures her that she'll survive and come to convalesce at Wildwind. Linda shares what she believes is God's plan for Kathy. Linda says she wants to make sure that Kathy won't be alone after she dies, and knows that Julia will make a wonderful mother. A few moments later, Kathy comes running in to see her mother.
Tad observes Julia in prayer, weeping and asking God why Linda is dying. While she prayed for a child, this is not what she wanted! Why is her friend Linda dying? When Tad walks in, she tells him about her wish on the Christmas Star for a child—and her fear that this helped cause this situation.
What sort of God would do this, asks Julia? Tad tells about his experiences on Christmas Eve, and suggests that things are bigger than they can understand. And what if this isn't the answer to Julia prayer—but that she is the answer to someone else's prayer?
Danielle is being watched as she sits in her living room. She sips from a soft drink bottle, and then speaks to her father, who's called one of the bodyguards to check on Danielle's safety. Danielle assures Derek that all is well.
A bit later, Danielle begins to feel dizzy—and suddenly realizes she's been poisoned. She tries to get to the guards, but collapses before she can reach them.
Tad comes to the Chandler manse to see Dixie. He needs to talk to her, and tells her about his investigation of Zach. He believes that Zach is connected in some way to the Fusion murders. Dixie is aghast, and tries to help in any way she can, but she doesn't remember much.
Tad also suggests that Dixie should have a bodyguard. He wants to keep her "nice and safe." She scoffs, but he insists.
