Zarf vs. the Pine Valley PDFriday, January 05 2007 |
• Chief Frye questions Zarf about the murders.
• Ryan tells Kendall that Spike will live with him until the murders are solved.
On New Year's Day morning, Josh comes over to Bianca's to cheer her up, but it's apparent that she didn't sleep alone last night, since her friend is leaving.
She warns him that Zarf is a "master manipulator." Josh is especially angry that Babe is defending Zarf. Binks wants to know what Kendall has roped Josh into doing for him. She also warns him that Babe is Zarf's next conquest, and Josh better be aware of that.
She tells him that there was something between her and Zarf—and that Zarf used her confidence and attraction to him to manipulate her. Josh now understands that Zarf is claiming to be transgender, and mentions that he treated trans people when he was a doctor in New York.
Bianca wonders how she could have been so easily misled by Zarf. Maybe she wasn't misled, says Josh—maybe Zarf really cares about her, and this whole situation might explain something that happened to him when he received a "wrong number" call at the Valley Inn—a call that was meant for Zarf.
Bianca suddenly realizes that—just maybe—Zarf is who he claimed to be! Instead of being understanding, she humiliated him!
Zarf is being interrogated at the police station, but Babe is trying to get him to remain silent until an attorney arrives. Di and Aidan are waiting when Jon rushes in, demanding to know if "that perv" killed Erin.
Zarf is baiting Derek…when he suddenly "admits I'm a stone killer." But it turns out that he's still playing with Derek, saying that's only a quote from a review of his latest album. Suddenly, Jonathan bursts through the door and grabs Zarf, accusing him of murdering his sister.
Zarf tells him that Erin was a special person and Aidan gets Jon out of there. Derek tells Zarf he can go, but not to leave town. Zarf and Babe leave the police station. Jon can't believe it, and begs Chief Frye to "do something."
Babe takes Zarf back to the Valley Inn, where he's disconsolate over the fact that Bianca couldn’t understand and accept Zoë. She tells him that she cares about him—about Zoë.
Zach tells Myrtle about his worries for Kendall's safety. She reminds him that the Kane women are hard-headed and he can't expect Kendall to leave him. Myrtle agrees that there's a connection between the murders and Zach—but why is the murderer coming at him "sideways?" What can the motive be? Zach says it's someone who wants to make him suffer.
Zach says he can't face the possibility of putting Kendall at risk, but Myrtle "won't give him an inch." Zach realizes that Kendall will remain with him.
Ryan informs Kendall that Spike's not coming home yet. Kendall is angry that he left Spike with Annie because he believes the baby isn't safe alone with Kendall. Ryan says that Tad informed him of a possible link between Zach and the murders, and asks Kendall to tell him what she knows. Ryan realizes that Kendall is the real target, and he wants her and Spike safe. That's why he's moving back to the penthouse with Spike. Kendall doesn't receive this news happily. She says she doesn't trust Annie, and suggests that it's all Annie's idea.
Zach arrives and sees how upset Ryan and Kendall are. He shares the gardenia/ribbon connection with Ryan. Ryan says that his sister is dead because of someone who hates Zach; Zach promises that he's working on the case day and night. When Kendall refuses to stay at the penthouse, Ryan says that he won't let Spike live with her until the murderer is found!
After Ryan leaves, Zach reminds Kendall that all the security in the world can't protect them—and wants to know what it is about Annie that threatens her.
A visibly agitated Jon rushes into Annie's house, yelling about the murderer being set free. Annie isn't convinced that Zarf is a killer, but Jon is certain. She begs him not to get involved, but he says there's "not a chance" he'll stay away from this, and rushes off.
When Ryan gets home, Annie tells him about the Zarf arrest and Jon's reaction. They're both worried about what Jon mght do.
