AMC Rant
Week of November 16 - 20:

The news is good for All My Children this week - Head Writer Chuck Pratt has been let go, which hopefully means there will be an end to the inane stories and character assassination we've been enduring. Of course, there will still be another good month or two of his storylines to play out, as AMC tapes well ahead. So hope is probably lost for the likes of Aidan Devane, and the characters returning for the 40th Anniversary, but hopefully things will improve after that. Let's look at this past week's developments and happenings on the show:

A Grunting Thug: Zach has been reduced to nothing more than a one-note bully - so disappointing, and such a misuse of a talented actor. Zach's sensitivity has always countered the macho side of his personality, and that's been lost. Kendall continues to be a whiny idiot, and Aidan has had a full-on personality transplant that is nothing less than an insult to those who have been fans of this character for years.

Amanda's Conscience:
A little late for her conscience to kick-in - after she has sex with a man other than her husband. I hate to see women depicted in this manner, and the scenes with David and Jake baiting one another have just become a ridiculous, repetitive bore. Jake's remarks make him seem like someone barely out of their late teens, and David's smarmy, gloating condescension is tiresome. I was truly interested to see where this threesome would go after the big reveal that David's son was alive, but it's just fallen flat.

Kicked to the Curb: The one entertaining aspect of this past week has been the performances of David Canary as the beleaguered Adam Chandler. He has made the most of the material provided to him. It was a truly satisfying scene when Adam kicked conniving Annie and wishy-washy Scott to the curb! That said, it still left me wishing I could understand where Annie and Scott have been coming from all these months. The character-development has been such that their true motivations and feelings have failed to come to light - therefore it's nearly impossible to engage with the characters emotionally - which is necessary in order to feel something about the story one way or another.

Soaps.com
Madison's Return: Why didn't Jesse arrest Madison's father for fraud in declaring his daughter to be deceased when she's not? Things that make you go hmmm… And Randi's shrewish ranting was on my last nerve. I can't wait for Angie to hear the latest!

Monitoring Greenlee: Here's something that is piquing my interest - how Greenlee will be discovered, and what the ensuing story will entail. What will she make of Ryan and Erica? It has the potential to be a good story.

Well, there's not much else to say about this past week. All My Children has continued to tell the same stories without much change, and the scenes have had a very repetitive feel. Probably the most interesting moments have surrounded Annie and her surprise pregnancy, and Adam finally dealing with her. Of course, I'm fully expecting his sentiments to change now that she has lost her baby, and the story will drag on… I'm with all of you Soaps.com readers that are looking toward the future of the show, and hoping that the next writer will tap into the rich history of AMC. Nowhere to go but up!

I just hate what you all are doing to Zach and Kendall. No good. They need to finally find some happiness.

First of all talk about budget, now that the head writer or whoever is responsible for messing up the character of Aiden Turner not to mention letting him go, for sure would regret this because this show is about to lose a lot of viewers. I, my friends and coworkers will put an end to watching this show once Aidan's storyline ends. Guaranteed. Having Aidan on AMC is the only reason we watch this show. I've been online this past few months and for sure the writers really provoked the fans. They really did a good job to upset us. It is very upsetting how they flip Aidan's character. It's a 180 degree turn. Sorry to say but I'm beginning to hate this show. Most of the characters are annoying anyway and now I have no more reason to watch. I'm not liking where the storyline of Aidan is going. The more I watch the more upset and disappointed I get. I've also read from msg boards and blogs from other viewers and Aiden's fans that they're not going to watch this show anymore. What can I say, if the ratings go down no one to blame other than the writers or whoever dictates them. That's all I can say!!!!!!!!!

I've been watching this show for years, it was always been my favorite, with ground breaking, fast moving story lines. It has never been a show that you could miss for a month and pick up where you left off.Now it's just pathetic. The same storylines dragging on for months and months, changing the basic personality of the charters and just completely off the wall plots. I can't stand it anymore. Aidan used to be one of my favorite charters, now he's an idiot who just keeps whining, Zach is an uncouth bully, Erica is having an affair with her grandson's father, Jesse's scruples ideals have flown the coop and they have an lunatic outwitting them all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't the orignal Scott gay, why did they forget that? How is it that suddenly the only chacter I have sympathy for is Adam? They need to give Brott a storyline instead of making him look like a sympathy character.

JMO.

I totally disagree with you about Randi. I was happy to see the feisty side of her. She's letting it be known that she's not buying Madison's act and the days of bringing harm to her family are over.

Candi, I have to say that Amanda has NOT been using common sense these past few months. Why in the world would she have to sell her soul to the Devil (David) to get pregnant.

Note to Jake...you need to kick Amanda to the curb because a person can take so much. You deserve a woman who doesn't have her brains screwed. Yes, Amanda, I MEAN YOU!!!

I agree stop the Zach and Kendal thing and let them be happy for awhile
