All My Children actor J.R. Martinez, who plays Brot, is set to be honored tonight with the 2009 Veterans Leadership Award.

NBC's Brian Williams will host the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America Heroes Gala tonight at Gotham Hall in New York. IAVA is a large, nonprofit, nonpartisan group for Iraq and Afghanistan vets.

Wow! Congratulations to J.R. Martinez!!! He gives servicemen everywhere a good name! He's a classy example of "turning poison into medicine", i.e. taking a negative situation and turning it into something positive. His incredible personality, strength, humor, and no doubt, family support, have made him into a person of character and integrity. We appreciate the sacrifice he made for our country, and wish nothing but good things for his future. He sure has brightened up AMC!

JR is solid proof that it is what's inside that mattered. There are quite a few people that could learn from him.
