Celine Dion Visits AMC!

Celine Dion visit AMC! (CelineDion.com)
The Pine Valley faithful are in for a real treat this November: Grammy-winning singer Celine Dion is headed to town!

ABC Daytime has signed some big names in the music industry this past year, but the addition of Celine Dion to the All My Children set - even for one day! - is a very big deal.

Celine will appear on the November 21st episode, promoting her new album.

Sources tell Soaps.com that Celine will appear as herself during a taping of Erica Kane's "New Beginnings" talk show. She will sing the title track from her new CD called "Taking Chances" on the show. The album hits shelves November 13th and already has people talking. You can purchase the CD on Celine's website here; there is also a CD/DVD combo available!

AMC's executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers said in a statement, "[Celine's] appearance with Erica Kane and her musical performance is a great treat for our audience. I can't think of a better way to ring in the holiday season than with the angelic sounds of Celine Dion."

This is the latest musical guest for ABC Daytime. Earlier this year, Nelly Furtado made a guest appearance to One Life to Live; Timbaland followed suit with a visit to Llanview in October. And ABC isn't the only daytime network getting in on the act. This month Enrique Iglesias will make a singing appearance on The Young and the Restless.

I love Celine Dion. I can listen to her music all day long, and I'm sure she'll sing lights out on the show, but having her on the show is not worth it as far as I'm concerned. AMC has a lot of problems with it right now, and Celine being on the show isn't going to solve them.

This is nothing against Celine. I think she's one of the best singers ever, but this is not what AMC needs to be doing right now.

When will TBTB realize that soap fans don't tune in to see musical numbers... particularly by guest stars. I notice AMC was tied for last place in the ratings last week. Hiring guest singers will not help that.

When the writers went on strike in 1989, the shows improved from the substitute writers. I hope the same thing happens with the current strike.
