At the 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards last night, many viewers were stunned to see actor Jacob Young, who plays JR Chandler on All My Children, sporting a different appearance!

Although Jacob didn't win in his category, chances are he'll have a shot again next year, since he is about to tackle a front-burner cancer storyline.

Soaps.com thinks that the upcoming AMC storyline is likely the reason for Jacob's hairless new look, but even if it's simply because Jacob wanted to try something different, he was certainly looking good - we wanted to give Soaps.com readers a glimpse!

No matter what the man does with his hair, he always looks ohhhhhh so goood! I like this look on him.

It is for the storyline, he is not trying a different look. He is honoring his mother, who is a cancer survivor, and all going through the disease or who have- by doing this as realistically as possible, to give it his all. He had already expressed to the soap magazines that he would be shaving his head as JR goes through treatment. I applaud him for it, and I think he looks great.

Jacob Young is a wonderful actor. I've always loved JR Chandler's s/l's & this one with cancer is just another way for JY to show how much talent he has. I hope the writers do it the right way & I'm sure Jacob will do fabulous. I hope he's moving to California with the show as it would be a shame to re-cast him. Good luck Jacob, love the way you portray JR no matter what your hair style. I think Tad should be the one to drive JR to & from his cancer treatment appointments. I'm looking forward to Michael & Jacob working close again.
